Seyz 198 desperate attention whore postings DAW Level: "Blistex Spokesperson" 01-11-02, 04:58 PM (EST) "Editing the Winner. Where was KJ and EZ all this time?" I just thought that it was extremely strange that Kj and EZ had sooooo little face time in S3 and that they won. I mean was it done on purpose? Neither one of them were EVER in the spotlight.. not really one single episode at all (except the last one which doesn't count). In fact.. KJ and EZ were also very boringly edited. Both of them aren't really that interesting characters.. very mellow characters.. so why didn't MB focus on them a bit more?? We hardly know either of them... and that annoys me a bit. Does MB purposely underedit the winners now? In fact, i think ALL 14 other survivors had a lot of focus on them.. even KimP had one episode that kept on focusing on her (the one where she got booted), while KJ and Ethan had never won the spotlight. And I thought MB said that there were going to be surprises in the finale.. something about the jury being a bit different.. Um.. sure.. I got fooled into thinking that they were reading the ballots in Africa.. but that isn't really much of a change. S3 was actually a lot of fun because of the sporadic players.. but I think it didn't do as well as its predecessors because all the most interesting players got booted out early. Jessie, the best looking girl Linda, the Mother Africa woman Lindsey (whom I LOVE to watch) .. and sorry everyone, but I think she looked the best yesterday at the reunion. Brandon, Clarence- the comedy Kelly- (I like Kelly a lot too. she's so articulate..and she's sooo hilarious.. I was laughing so hard when watchin Regis and Letterman) KJ and EZ are just plain.. um.. boring??   Top

I just let myself get distracted by my instant hatred of Lex. And remember, Tina was almost invisible until the end last time. It's how MB plays the game.   Top

Ethan is a natural introvert (odd for a professional athlete, but he's an introvert none the less). This is a problem for MB because good Television is almost all about A type personalities. Because Ethan is an introvert, there was almost certainly little in the way of footage that could be used to build a compelling character or story around him. Ethan didn't initiate the winning alliance. Ethan didn't perform well in the individual challenges. Ethan wasn't one of the 3 "fish out of water" in the switch. Ethan didn't initiate strategies. Ethan didn't cultivate close relationships. So MB had a problem in that the winner of SURVIVOR was pretty much... boring. There wasn't anything MB could do once the film was in the can, so MB editted the interesting players like Lex, Lindsey, Silas, Tom & Kelly into the show to pull viewers in, but editted them as evil or idiots so we wouldn't be upset, and maybe we would be pleased that they didn't win. MB then had to edit the show so the person whom Ethan faced the jury against wasn't more likeable Ethan was. Thus, MammaKim got little face time or development in the show.   Top
