Snidget 44369 desperate attention whore postings DAW Level: "Playboy Centerfold" 02-21-07, 06:05 PM (EST) "Weds Feb 21 Top 12 Girls" Keep all your yawns and snores about the top 12 girls on this thread until the West Coast has a chance to fall asleep during the show. I wonder how many votes they lost because people nodded off and didn't wake up in time. Please let everyone who was sure that the boys would be the hot ones after the auditions and Hollywierd rounds be wrong. Also Ix-Nay on the Ig-Say Ics-Pay so should we all stay awake long enough to post our friends on dial up can get the whole thread in something approaching a timely manner. Here are the girls: Alaina Alexander (24) - Currently lives in West Hollywood, CA, and has been singing all her life. Her favorite artist is Mariah Carey. She has been pursuing a career in music but almost gave up her dream until she made it on AMERICAN IDOL. Antonella Barba (20) - From Point Pleasant, NJ, Barba attends Catholic University in Washington, DC, pursuing an architecture degree. She began singing in sixth grade and once toured with the Monmouth Conservatory of Music in England. Melinda Doolittle (29) - Currently lives in Brentwood, TN. Doolittle is a graduate of Belmont University in Nashville and has a bachelor’s degree in Commercial Music. She is a backup singer on stage and in the studio. Stephanie Edwards (19) - Currently lives in Savannah, GA. Edwards sang at the famed Apollo Theater when she appeared on "It's Showtime at the Apollo." She has won every singing contest she has ever entered. Gina Glocksen (22) - Currently lives in Naperville, IL, and works as a dental assistant. Glocksen also performs in a cover band. She tried out for AMERICAN IDOL last season and made it to Day 4 of the Hollywood Round. Leslie Hunt (24) - Currently lives in Chicago, IL. Hunt is a dog walker who is studying to become a dog trainer. She also plays the piano. Lakisha Jones (27) - Grew up in Flint, MI, and began singing at age 5. Gospel is her Jones’ favorite type of music but she has trained formally in classical music. Amy Krebs (22) - Currently lives in Federal Way, WA. Krebs has been singing since she was a small child and attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. She is fluent in German and lived in Germany for three years. Haley Scarnato (24) - Currently lives in San Antonio, TX. Scarnato, who recently became engaged, has been performing as a freelance singer since she was 15 years old and considers Celine Dion her hero. Jordin Sparks (17) - Currently lives in Glendale, AZ. Sparks began singing when she was only 18 months old. She won the "Arizona Idol" contest. Her favorite band is Something Corporate. Sabrina Sloan (27) - Currently lives in Studio City, CA. Sloan attended the Northwestern University music and theater program and has performed across the country with the touring production of "Hairspray." Nicole Tranquillo (20) - Currently lives in Philadelphia, PA, where she is a vocal major at the University of the Arts. Tranquillo began taking voice lessons when she was 12 years old.   Top

I liked that she tried to put some emotion into that song, at the end, anyway. I just don't think the snoozy ballads are a good choice for this first round of voting, because they are forgettable. I can understand wanting to play it safe, but I really think you've got a better chance to get votes if you sing something that will stand out.   Top

Hmmmmm, nice sound, WAY too many flips & runs, which threw her off pitch. Seems connected to the song, but I'm not thrilled. STOP DOING RUNS. I agree with Simon, that she's not memorable. "RE: Leslie Hunt" We only saw a tiny bit of her in Hollywood, and I was intrigued. Her voice sounded interesting. Is it? Yep, I like her voice - nice texture, deeper than you'd expect, good range, nice control. I like her. And she's doing that raspy thing in a way that sounds like it's not going to hurt her. And Randy, yes - Aretha sang that song, but so did Carole King. I didn't have a problem with her giving it a different sound from Aretha. I did, however, see what Simon was talking about too, with the gangliness.   Top

"RE: Sabrina Sloan" I don't think I'm going to like her - in her clip package she sounded tight & like she was holding the tone in the back of her throat. The girls version of an "Eddie Vedder Cover." (vocal cover, not a cover of a song.) She sounds better than I expected, but - eh for me. She's really harsh looking. But there's the soul & blues that the judges have been asking for. I'm not surprised the judges liked her, and smart girl for doing the upbeat thing.   Top

She's tip-toeing through this - too obviously nervous. Pitch issues. Dead eyes - (Carrie?) No way is she going to make it past any of the women we've already seen (maybe Amy) - she had a negative Hollywood edit and she doesn't sing all that well. Buh bye. "RE: Jordin Sparks " Tried to change it up and make it more uptempo, but that seems to take all the longing and emotion out of the song for me. In tune and good tone, but I'm not feeling it. (Can you tell when I can get the song title fast ) Randy: Some good things about it. You got a big old voice, at the end you showed that. I don't know if there is any song to big for you. Paula: You are starting to go there you have that natural talent go for it. Simon: Seen a big change in you, you have got a very good voice. I think if you push yourself you may surprise a few people.   Top

I wondered half-way through whether she'd bring the energy she was putting into the song to the crowd and they caught on towards the end. Not sure how well I like her yet (would like to hear more).
