He's no William Hung. Oh, lord, singing 'Don't Let The Sun', Elton turning over in his grave. Clay Aiken (in a really bad Beatles wig) walks out on stage in back of him, Michael freaks, Clay starts singing, and Michael gets it together enough to sing with Clay.   Top

Edited to say: Scratch those earlier comments--I rewatched it and I think the sound engineer did not turn up the background singers enough--so it was more pronounced when Mandisa stopped for them to carry their part--but those three girls/ladies either did not sing very loud or the mike/sound let them down.   Top

She was booted so long ago I don't recall her name. Kellie comes out to sing 'I'll Never Fall in Love Again'. Keep in mind, when I say 'sing, I mean snippets of the songs. Bucky sings 'Teardrops (Keep Falling On My Head)'. He does have such a nice voice. Mandisa sings lead for 'Say A Little Prayer'. Lisa sings 'Alfie', standing by the piano. Elliott sings 'A House Is Just A Home'. Still love his voice. Kevin sings 'What's New Pussycat'. What, they couldn't find a Bacharach song without 's's in the title? Lisps all across the song. Chris, Ace and Kevin singing the theme from 'Arthur', Christopher Cross song, title escapes me. Paris sings 'Close to You'. Paris introduces Dionne Warwick, who has perhaps had the most success with Bacharach songs, sings 'Walk On By'. Huh, she isn't singing in the upper register. I think AI missed the opportunity to let Taylor be more Taylor like...with his harmonica, or singing "Georgia", or something he could have rocked out. They packed the show with so many so-so acts. Most of it looked like practice for the concert. Why the focus on Burt Bacharach? Seemed oldie-ish for a show that wants to be hip. I guess Prince was supposed to balance that out.
