moxiegirl 6 desperate attention whore postings DAW Level: "American Cancer Society Spokesperson" 11-04-03, 03:51 PM (EST) "shallow Hals?" Are these average looking guys with great personalities, or shallow hals who couldn't get dates for a reason? I loved the show, don't get me wrong (although I felt sorry for melana when the cute guy left in the limo and the bus of average guys show up and she handled it well). My peeve is that in a clip of upcoming episodes it shows them rockclimbing, and as she climbs up, the guys are all staring at her and one of them says "she has a great ass" or similar to that. My problem is that she isn't supposed to judge on appearance, but the only thing I have heard out of the guys mouths are "wow, she is hot", "what a babe", "she is so good looking". Apparantly the farthest thing on their minds is her personality. Will she find true love with an average Joe who loves her for who she is? Or realize that no matter what the outside packaging is...most men just want a hot babe.   Top

Or maybe she actually is attracted to "average" guys. She really has no "girlfriends" to interact with, so it's not as easy to know her intentions, as it is with the guys. She could very well be a gold digger in disguise! Remember how she reacted to that "decoy" guy from the limo, Mike? What if all the guys looked like him? Yeah, but then she decided to try and be a good sport and keep an open mind. We don't know that much about Melina yet, but I'd imagine that if she does have a great personality and/or is intelligent, it would get pretty tiring to keep get hit on by asshole, shallow guys all the time, and hear about how great her rack is, etc. I would hope that guys like this, who probably would never have chance with a girl like Melina in real life, would realize that, and try to get to know her as a person. After all, many of them said they wanted women to look past their looks and get to know them. They should show the same consideration. So far, doesn't look they will, though. Sentence first. You'd never expect a geek or nerd to act like a shallow Hal, like the world should tippy toe around his emotions just because you were lucky enough to be born looking like your parents, and your parents just happen to be beautiful people. It takes time to figure out what someone is really all about, but the dark angels among us are just better at concealing their inner demons (gold digging with the intent to use, lie and manipulate, etc) than most of us. You can be a gold digger with a heart of gold. Like Bill Gates. He such a mega success, and the mere fact that he had aspirations to become so well off - someone could call THAT gold digging, just because he's successful. It doesn't mean that he intentionally set out to extort money from the general public just because he was genius enough to provide a much needed service. And I'm not even getting started on current trends of beauty & ideal looks, size, etc. I'm far more bothered by AvgJoe in everyones lack of interest in mel's personality and the prize of "getting the girl" (mentioned by the Hostess and a couple of them, which could after all be some of the "plants" anyway). I'm not convinced yet that she is even a "prize catch". (esp if she is very interested in Zach). Just don't want anyone to take me as anti-nerd/geek/underdog either. EO Basher. I've met some quite bitter geeks who are jealous of those born with looks, and they act as if the world owes them a favor. I can only speak from experience. On the other hand, I have met a lot of babes who were actually quite shy and insecure in their striking good looks. It was just an initial shock to me upon meeting, it's a contradiction I didn't expect in the geeks and a refreshing paradox in the babes. I agree this show doesn't give us a complete picture of what Melana's personality is really like. I think by the end of this, we are going to see a few sub groups in geekdom. Some of them definitely have ego problems. I mean, just because you're not good looking, doesn't mean you should have a self deprecating personality, but just because she's beautiful doesn't necessarily mean that she's a typical skanky beeyoch. Regardless of either of the above reasons, you never know why someone is the way they are for sure, and you should at least make a few visits before trying to judge them, which reminds me of that guy Zach. His sh!t don't stink. Sometimes their behaviors are as bad as their pretty boy counterparts. Sometimes I have this problem of seeing both sides at the same time, and the more I learn, the more I have the potential to later contradict myself. It's a vicious cycle, but all in fun. Sometimes I wake up grumpy, sometimes I let him sleep.   Top

I mean, how can ANYONE who is saying, "I have a chance to get some HOT ASS" (or something like that) be LIKABLE? WHAT?! Is she supposed to be nice to the fat guys no matter what? How about the boring guys? Maybe these guys are rejected because they are immature, obnoxious or BOTH. Yes, Dennis is nice--but, GEEZ, he is SO developmentally behind that he'd better get some more dating experience before he commits to anyone. I think she has as much depth and class as can be expected from someone who was TRICKED into having to socialize with a bunch of droolers. At least the hunks on The Bachelor have some social skills and know how to BE LIKED and WANTED, rather than just panting and saying, "Oh, you're beautiful" or "You're SO HOT" over and over. It is sickening to have to hear that all the time from drooly guys, don't you think? How is that supposed to get a man--or a woman--liked? She has guts for not running away. Even average women would not be able to tolerate most of these men, I think. Zach may be irritating, but he is, at least, multidimensional--which would make him interesting no matter what he looked like. The others include: a boring "intellectual" who says, "Thank you. And I must admit that a lot of cheerleaders are shallow, vain, what have you.. but there are some that are great people and quite nice. I am not one of those(kidding) No, that was 15 years ago, and I cringe to think how i acted back then. Say what you want about personality but it is unrealistic for anyone to say that looks don't matter. I must be physically, emotionally, and mentally attracted to someone. What I find attractive may be different than someone else but i still have to be physically attracted. Does that make me shallow? I don't think so   Top

So would having a kid and paying child support be baggage? Are we all soo shallow ourselves that we won't/can't just accept people for who they are and not what they look like. What I am trying to say is that these guys need to stick with women in their own league. With so-so looks and the dorkiness, these men are not very good catches. I have a hard time believing this woman is serious about this. My sister is an "above average Jane" she is not a knockout but good looking, and she is pretty shallow. She goes for the gorgoeus muscle heads thats treat her like crap. I would like for her to focus a little less off of looks and go for a guy that is handsome and nice and treats her well. She will learn one day I hope. Yes, I admit I'm a little shallow but actually I stay away from guys out of my league. Looks are not everything to me but my guy is handsome and wonderful, so I feel like I have a good package anyways.   Top
