"Rankings - Queen Night" |
LAST EDITED ON 04-12-06 AT 07:46 AM (EST)OK, I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't the trainwreck I had pictured it to be. I thought - overall - they had one of their better nights so far. Who would have thought....? Rankings after sleeping on it. 1) Elliot - Damn, that boy can sing. I love it. PERFECT SONG. Excellent!!!!! 2) Chris - this is the kind of song he should be singing. I had never heard it before, and it kicked. Incredible. 3) Paris - Wow. One of the fist time I've really liked her. I guess because she has shown me she can do something beyond Beyonce and R&B. 4) Taylor - I liked it. I really really liked it. He did better than i expected. The real Taylor is BACK. Now, for 'American Songbook Night', please do "Georgia On My Mind". You'll be at the top of the list next week. 5) Bucky - I am impressed. In tune, working the stage. I slight country-edge, but true to the song. Surprised! 6) Kellie - Wow. Again, impressed. She has shocked me. I think she did ok, considering the song she choice. 7) Katherine - Initial thought - BORING. Queen is so dynamic. This is dull. She can sing though. I think it was the wrong choice for her. 8) Ace - Not great. Got worse at the end. I think he COULD have done a total rock out, but he had to r&b'ize it. Some songs should NOT be altered into another genre. "We Will Rock You" is one of those. Read the title, its not "We Will R&B You". Bottom Three Prediction - Ace/Katherine/Bucky Going Home Prediction - Ace

1. Taylor--perfect song choice. 2. Ace--I'm as shocked as you. I really liked how he tried to do something different. He (get ready, Glow) out-rocked Chris! 3. Kellie--Pains me to say it, but I was actually entertained. I will admit, though, that I finally believe that she is acting (some of) her dumb blondeness. She overplayed her hand with the "on paper" bit. 4. Elliott--Pretty good. The most personality he has shown during a song. 5. Katharine--Not so much that she was bad, but that the others were better. And the evil stylist is back--could that belt have been any more '80s? 6. Chris--*yawn* 7. Bucky--Pretty good, I guess. 8. Paris--Girlfriend, the Tina Turner look is *so* not you.Bottom 3: Ace, Bucky, Paris Going: Bucky

3. "RE: Rankings - Queen Night" |
1. Chris - best.idol.contestant.ever. Man alive, the guy has a voice on him. There's no denying that. And he has more talent in his weird (but oh so hot) facial hair than most people that have ever competed on this show in five seasons do in their entire being. And he's hot so I try to overlook his obvious poor taste in music (Live, Creed). 2. Katharine - a little too big. a little too pitchy. But it's my favorite Queen song and that earns her tons of bonus points. Which is probably the.only.reason. I'm ranking her above Bucky. 3. Bucky - I? am a proud Bucky fan. Bash him all you want. Bash me all you want. You won't change my mind. I love his voice. Love it. I think he's wonderful. To me, this is true talent. Real talent. Raw talent. Genuine talent. He was comfortable and it showed. He was entertaining. Love him. The only reason he's down here is because he didn't sing loud enough (or maybe the band was too loud). And because Katharine reminded me how hot Adrian Paul was in the Highlander and reminded me to pick up the rest of the seasons since I only have the first one. And because when Chris yells at me, it gets me all hot. Again this week, Pennsyltucky's phone lines were busy busy busy. 4. Taylor - It was really good and it was good to see entertaining Taylor again. 5. Kellie - I expected it to be worse (which is why I try to avoid passing judgement until after I see them perform). Nice boots! Loved her comment about not being able to understand Simon because of his accent. 6. Elliot - behind the music again right from the beginning. The rest of the song was him trying to play catch up and his voice (which I like a lot) suffered for it. 7. Paris - meh. I wanted it to be better. I thought it was a great song choice for her. She really should have rocked it. It should have been better. 8. Ace - icky.

WOW is everyone listening to that same show these rankings are all over the place except that everyone is pretty much unanimous on Ace. JUST MI, 1. Katherine- Did a great job her, she had some shaky moments but good job overall. 2. Chris- Rocks on, please show me your range, this hsould have been your week to break away and you did not do it. 3. Kellie- Much to my surprise she held it together pretty well. She hit some notes that I did not think she could. Look past the stupid act, and give her credit. We all thought she was going to kill that song. 4. Paris- Another person that is not getting any love for whatever reason. She is not a rocker and she did a good job with the song. 5. Bucky - Again pleasantly surprised, he did a decent job with the song. 6. Elliot- Did not do as well as I would of imagined. He did a bad karaoke staying away from the tough parts of the song. 7. Taylor- Sorry he did not do a very good job, but he is safe. 8. Hopefully finally a curtain call for him. He needs to go. Bye ACE, see you much much later. Jags

I finally got to see a complete show so I can add my 2 cents! 1. Chris-this was fantastic. Who cares if people won't know the song? If your performance was good it does not matter.
2. Katharine-She did good. She is not one of my favorites and I did think the way she did the song was kind of safe actually. But her vocals were great. 3. Taylor-loved it. However I think he could have chosen a better song. 4. Bucky-You had to know he was gonna choose this song! It was good. Good for him at least. I just don't know if he has the voice. He seems like just a bar band singer. 5. Paris- My biggest suprise of the night. She did very nicely. I liked it. 6. Ace- I don't think this was as bad as the judges made it out to be. It did not bother me that much. However it did not impress me that much either. 7. Elliot- This guy is horrible. His voice just grates on me. I don't get it. He never even heard the song? Not that that has anything to do with his performance. Seems like a nice guy but has a limited voice. The only reason he is not last is because of... 8. Kellie- please. It was a toss up between her and Elliot for worst. I think her horrendous outfit did her in for me and perky attitude on an angst ridden song. Bottom 3 Kellie Elliot Ace Go home- probably Ace. Siggy conceived by Arkie, gestating done by Zombs

1. Chris: Although I really didn't care for the song, he still, IMO, is the man to beat. His voice was perfect last night. 2. Elliott: Much better than past weeks. Great comeback for him. He is looking so much better, but I really don't dig his moves. 3. Paris: Another comeback. I asked DH, who doesn't watch but walks in and out of the room from time to time, how old he thought she was. He replied, "Mid twenties." I have always felt she is much bigger than a regular teen singer. Much bigger. 4. Taylor: I probably like him better with less movement, but I enjoyed his performance. Still waiting for him to have a "huge" night. Or is it "special"? 5. Bucky: I liked his country spin on the song. Bucky has had a nice turnaround, and I hope he keeps it up. 6. Katherine: While I love her voice, she bores me to freaking tears. And yes, she is beautiful - especially last night - but that doesn't do it for me. 7. Ace: Blah. 8. Kelly: The judges may have liked it, but it didn't work for me. She wrapped it up, but for this song, the country didn't cut it. And I hated her look. Too dark, too gothic.
It's Arkie Love

1. Chris--Obscure song, great performance. Don't think this connected with anyone who isnt a rabbid Queen fan. Still think it's his competition to lose.2. Taylor--fun to watch - but if you are gonna kick down the mic stand you better do it on one shot.. 3. Katharine--SOMEONE PLEASE GET HER A STYLIST!! Love, love, love her... But please babe, you don't have to scream the hight notes -- you do have a mic, remember? And please, keep the dramatics to a minimum -- Ace needs its, you dont... (sorry Glow! ) 4. Elliott--At first, all I saw of Elliot was the re-crap at the end of the show. Liked it alot! Then I saw his actual performance -- not as good. 5. Ace--Interesting version of the song. Sounded like he tried to take the song down a notch during the middle - then realized it was a bad idea and brought it back up! 6. Bucky--I like it... He is not my favorite, but I enjoyed it. 7. Kellie--Doesnt know what "on paper" means?!?!? WTF?!?!? I like Simon's comment "eyes like night of the living dead". Entertained? A little... Looks like she's been spending her off hours do choreography with Ace... 8. Paris--Have been trying to figure out why I do not like her -- last night it finally hit me -- she ISNT singing. Stay with me here -- does anyone know what Rich Little actually sounds like? No -- because he was always doing impressions. ALWAYS. That is what Paris is doing -- its an impression of someone singing. Cant argue that she does it quite well, but it has never been HER on the stage... And worse, it was not a great impression of Tina Turner either... Bottom 3 Prediction: Bucky, Paris, Kellie Going: Paris Archon "You can get more with a 2x4 and a kind word than with just a kind word." (Marcus, B5)

Ok, since it was Queen, I'll actually do a ranking.1. Katherine - I never have personally ranked her #1, she was pitchy in spots, and the outfit was bleh, but overall she pulled it off 2. Paris - Hated the extensions, she didn't look comfortable with them, but thought she did a great job singing. I expected her to completely bomb, but she didn't 3. Chris - Rocked it out as usual. While I know the song, and many Queen fans will, I believe the average AI watcher will not, and this may hurt him. 4. Kellie - another one I thought would bomb, and pulled it off. Her S&M look is hot, but the dumb blonde comments are too much. 5. Elliot - Had problems throughout the song, but pulled it off. I think the key was off in parts. 6. Taylor - He was ok. 7. Bucky - I liked his performance, he was sexy, but his talent is limited compared to those ranked highter 8. Ace - I have been a fan all along, but I just didn't like this performance. It was too safe, and he was boring. Sigs by Cyg

I think I do this wrong, but I don't like ranking just one performance, rather add the performance to the whole and go from there. I'd feel icky otherwise some weeks.1. Chris- not a great week, but I like him the best overall to not move him down. 2. Eliot- Not sure why I like him, but I do. Thought he did well this week. 3. Katherine- sounded really bad at times, but sounded really good at times, and she's just darn cute. 4. Kellie- Surprisingly good this week. 5. Taylor- Typically he really unnerves me, but this week, I enjoyed him quite a bit. Perhaps best of the night, even if this season just ammounts to national karaoke. 6. Bucky- did alright, does alright generally. I like him better than the bottom 2. 7. Paris- she was okay this week, but each week she sticks around I like her less and less. 8. Ace- Crappy *again*. Still here, somehow. Why is this guy singing nationally on a weekly basis? don't like sunlight, keep me away from water, don't feed me after midnight

1. Chris - outstanding as usual2. Kellie - yeah, the hick act is getting old, but holey carp she was HOT!! And pulled of that song better than anyone thought. 3. Bucky - I really like him last night, although he doens't have the "lujury" of taking a night off from now on. 4. Katharine - not her best, but still OK, and she looked gorgeous 5. Elliot - OK, I guess, but I can't really remember how he did 6. Paris - I just don't dig the schizo "who am I tonight" deal, but she did OK 7. Taylor - WTF was that? Talk about butchering a song. I first thought it was OK, but upon further review it almost sounded like he forgot the melody, then covered it up by being all "soul partol" with it 8. Ace - Brutal. Final 3: Ace Bucky Chris (based on DialIdol) Gone: Ace - bye bye, pretty boy Sig by Arkie!!

Also pleasantly surprised. Rankings based purely on entertainment value, not necessarily perfect vocals.1. Taylor - YES! The Taylor we love was back. Enjoyed and was singing along. Thought his vocals were good also. 2. Kellie - Huge surprise here. Loved the look, vocals were good and she really rocked it out. Probably her most enjoyable performance for me. 3. Bucky - Again, I was expecting a train wreck, but really enjoyed it. My DH thought he was the best. 4. Chris - He is still my fav but I agreed with Simon's comments. The song was too repetitive. Wish he would have chosen a better known song and knocked it out of the park. 5. Paris - Still not a fan, but the girl can sing. 6. Katharine - Great voice, and only this low because of entertainment value and my DH was talking to me while she was singing so didn't here all of it. 7. Ace - meh? good for Ace I guess 8. Elliot - I will probably be the only one to rank him this low, but I did not like it at all. His voice just didn't fit with the music or something.... I don't know, just didn't sound good to me. I think Ace is toast.

Okay, I'm not sure I saw the same show many of you did. I (most emphatically!) was not impressed. I'm a big Queen fan from waaaaaaaaaay back at the beginning, I'm not at all impressed with their current pairing with Paul Rogers, and most of this was pretty bad, IMHO. I had a hard time sitting through it and actually had to leave the room once because I found it so painful.1. Elliott - one of the few songs that I found recognizable. A decent vocal that took a lot of risks, not all of which turned out well. However, he did (for the first time for me) bring some real feeling to it. 2. Chris - best vocal of the night for sure. He's only second because I doubt most people will "get" the song choice. But I do and I was as impressed as Mr. May and Mr. Taylor were. 3. Katherine - tough song and she got a little screechy in places, but she sure has pipes. 4. Taylor - very entertaining but a somewhat predictable rendition of one of the few Queen songs that isn't massively vocally challenging. 5. Bucky - meh. Completely predictable choice. I just can't see him anywhere but a bar. And one I don't patronize. 6. Kellie - only because I have no other place to put her. You could switch this one with Ace and I wouldn't care. That was just horrible. And she looked like a bad impression of David Bowie. Hated, hated, hated it. 7. Ace - he could have rocked this out. He kinda started to and then, horrors, tried to put some kind of weird R&B thing to it or something. And then tried to correct an unfixable misstep. Ick. 8. Paris - I really only heard the very beginning because this is the one that caused me to leave the room. It made me ill. However it ended, there would have been no way to redeem how horrible that beginning was for me. Someone please get rid of this child. Goddess of the Steeler Nation

this is the first year I really don't have a contestant to love or hate. I'm kinda meh on all of them, even though I think the talent level is higher this year. Maybe that's it, no one is really deserving or undeserving. no front runners or jokes. 1) Elliot - loved it. everything about it. I thought he was great 2) Bucky - I was totally entertained. He's not the best singer in the world, but he is talented and a born performer. totally believable each week. 3) Chris - great voice and presence but he bores me. 4) Katharine - my early favorite continues to disappoint a little. screechy and sharp. I lvoe that song too. 5) Kellie - better than I expected. especially at the beginning - she kinda lost me at the end. 6) Paris - she is always playing dress-up. iiit's annoying. figure out who you are and come back when you grow up. 7) Taylor - not a challenging song vocally - aa predictable choice a frantic performance. I just do not get the Taylor love at all. And honestly I don't think he's even that good of a singer and I think he's a horrible dorky performer. blech. the dude missed the mic stand. puh-leez. 8) Ace - he managed to give Queen the Donny Osmond treatment. go home pussy. America's bottom three: Ace, Paris, Elliot/Bucky going home: Ace anyone see Fantasia behind Paula nodding her head furiously in agreement ?

I think I may be in the minority on this one...and I have some questions for some of you that have more expertise on Queen than I do, etc.1. Chris--ABSOFREAKINGLY PERFECT--Simon just does not get alternative rock..It was a perfect song choice for Chris and he sang it better than anyone else sang their song. Simon keeps calling him indulgent....why? please tell me how the song choice was indulgent? Alternate rock is about the edge not mainstream. What song of Queen's did he want Chris to sing for his "moment"? Geggy you're an expert on Queen and you love Chris, I'd appreciate your help here! We Will Rock you? We are the Champs? those were taken and they would have been trite choices for Chris. Dweeze you are on record as not liking alt rock, is he being indulgent? I'd love to hear your opinion. I think Chris is doing fabulously and he picks the right songs. Another question for geggy and other big Queen fans Why hasn't Innuendo been done live? Is it bc it was a 1991 album and that is the year Freddie died? I don't think it's bc of the song as Simon suggested.. I never heard it and I loved it. And an aside (it's Larry coming back--I had a better eye for fashion, makeup etc.) I just loved Chris' eyeliner...a nice tribute to Freddie. 2. Katherine-She did look great in the lights and she sounded the best I've heard her. Great job and good choice to change songs.
3. Bucky--I thought he was GREAT...Perfect song choice and it was not mediocre and not karaoke. I voted for him all nite bc I don't want this week to be the one he leaves (sorry glowie I would love for him and Chris to be in the Finals and him win it but I don't see it happending) 4. Elliott-maybe it was bc I don't particularly like the song he chose, but it wasn't as good for me as others might think. I thought he was choppy and it always sounded like he was off a bit from the music...but he was better than the others. 5. Ace--I really liked his arrangement. I know Queen didn't but they allowed their songs to be used so they have to allow for the change. I thought he did well and I hope his fans voted for him to stay in the competition. 6. Paris-It was okay but it did seem a bit weird as Simon said. I think Paris did better with Queen than I and others thought she would. 7. Taylor--okay, I am remembering PMons comment in her PTTE initial list post and she said she thought she would tire of Taylor....I have..it's official..anytime he wants to leave, he can...What the *&*^ was he thinking? This is not a dancing competition and his song WAS A MESS!! He should have stayed with "We are the Champions" He has to go back to the Michael MacDonald genre...what about a Bob Seeger song? 8. Kellie--okay DEATH goes Blonde...as opposed to Chris' makeup that was great, hers was downright scary...and she sounded horrible...what the heck was Simon smoking when he said she worked it out...it was horrendous and should have been so for everyone!! But hey, this country elected W twice....so I'm sure she's safe

Sorry it took so long, Emy, but I had to go to stoopid, stoopid meetings all morning.Okay, first, I have no idea what song Simon thought he should have done. I can't pretend to think I know what he had in mind, but he obviously had something. "We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions" would have been a horrible choice for Chris simply because the songs have become such cliches. I know "Innuendo" but most people who only have a passing acquaintance with Queen wouldn't, so I do get that (especially) the AI audience might vote more for someone doing a familiar song. Of course, even most of those who did do familiar songs did them so badly they were unrecognizable. So I don't know that it hurt Chris much. I really am beginning to suspect that Simon really doesn't like rock very much so he criticizes Chris' song choices because he really can't criticize his singing or performances much. He calls it indulgent just because Chris isn't indulging Simon. Tough for Simon, Chris did a great job on a tough song. Go, Chris!!!!! Freddy would have loved it. I would have to venture the guess that you are correct in that the song comes from the album that came out at the time of Freddy's death. Freddy only admitted to the band that he had AIDS immediately preceding his public announcement. And he died, I think, within a month of the public announcement. Unfortunately, no time in there for any type of tour promoting the album or a farewell tour. What I found most interesting in viewing last night and what I have discussed with a few people who have seen both shows, is that it became very obvious to me last night how inferior the talent is on AI compared to what I saw on Rock Star last summer. The contestants on that show did a lot of Queen songs. The only AI contestant that could have even stepped on the same stage as the Rock Star contestants would be Chris. And, in all likelihood, he'd have never have won or even been in the top 2. The worst Queen rendition by a Rock Star contestant was a thousand times better than what you heard on AI last night (excluding Chris and possibly Elliott). After hearing Suzie McNeil (or even *shudder* Mig Ayesa) sing "Bohemian Rhapsody," that awful, silly performance by Kellie is like fingernails on a chalkboard. Goddess of the Steeler Nation

I popped into this thread thinking that everyone would be thinking along the same lines as me. Ummm, I guess not. 1) Taylor - Loved the performance, loved his voice, loved that he missed the mic stand, it was adorable & human. I'm shocked that most of you are ranking him so low. 2) Bucky - Loved the performance and his voice makes me all fangirl squishy. 3) Chris - Thought the song was a bad choice, it was the predictable alt rock Chris yet again. He has a good voice though, and I agree he's hot. 4) Elliot - The boy has loads of vocal ability, but just ain't got the charisma to go with it. I wonder if they'll get Elliot to move while singing in the group number tonight? 5) Kellie - Thought the make-up was horrid and way overdone. Totally shocked she didn't completely suck. 6) Paris - Only this high because the last 2 were worse. A girl in search of a style. I. don't. get. Paris. 7) Katherine - I thought she stunk up the stage, and I normally like her. She either has really really horrid taste in clothing or her stylist is out to get her and she's too nice to say no. 8) Ace - Chris looked hot in the eyeliner. Ace just looked creepy. Horrid performance.

Taylor – Love Taylor. He will always be my favorite. Not my favorite Queen song, but he really kicked out the rockabilly, hold the cheese. Would love to have heard him do “Champions,” but good to see him doing an up-beat song & dancing.Elliott – Elliott did a beautiful job. Holy crap that boy can sang. He’s still doesn’t quite show his passion, like Barry & Kenny pointed out to him, but I really believe that’s something he’ll learn (unlike Carrie Underwhelm). AND, I’d rather watch someone that appears a little reserved (Elliott) than someone who ‘puts on’ a phony persona (Chris, Katharine, Paris, Kellie) Bucky – I thought this was really good. This was the perfect song for him, and he did it well. Don’t know why the judges were so hard on him. Ace – Color me surprised. He did very well too. And he did what people like Paris should do – sing the first 2 verses as written, THEN change it up. Yay. Paula was clearly out of her mind again last night, and the first sign was her saying that Ace had pitch problems….not that I heard. Yeah, “Ace the Rock Star” wasn’t quite believable, but I thought he was much better than the judges gave him credit for. Chris – Chris sang very well. He still bores me. More of the same. I completely agree with Simon’s comments about his song choices being self-indulgent. It just comes off to me like he’s very deliberately being Mr. Angst. Yawn. I’ve seen him before, and I didn’t buy the album. How about a variety of emotion? And does he have any personality? (side note: Paula, don’t EVER try to talk like you know how to read music. A high C? No freakin’ way. NO WAY. Idiot.) Katharine – another yawn. Yes, she’s a very good singer, but I’m still bored. Do we really need another woman that just stands there and sings big? Where’s the grit, the blood, the gut? Yawn again. Oh – and some of those notes were really splatty. Paris – She really sang this – a couple of times it made me think of Shirley Bassey. BUT – she still can’t control her voice unless she’s belting (she lost it a couple of times), she tried to do too much gingerbread at the end – AND she still looks like Dress-me-up Paris! If you’re an actress, and you can play a rock goddess, or a sweet innocent girl, or a coy flirt – Good for you!! If you’re a singer, you need to be yourself. Repeat: BE YOURSELF. Who the hell are you Paris? I agree with Simon on this one, it was incredibly weird. Kellie – YIKES!!! The girl should NOT have sung this song. With a little girl voice and straight through her nose. What a hot mess. I can’t believe the judges cut on Ace so badly and then told Kellie she did fine. Oy. That was all kinda suck. And did we have to return to the “What’s ‘on paper’" crap? And “I don’t have an accent.” Please, shut up, and shut up. My personal bottom 3: Katharine, Paris, Kellie Will be: Ace, Katharine, Bucky? Paris?

Yeah, I'll back off the "phony" comment with regards to Chris. He's no where near Paris or Kellie in that regard. I still feel, however, that he seems to kinda put on his singer-guy shirt when he gets on stage. Same with Katharine. It just doesn't feel like as natural an extension of himself as it does with Taylor or Bucky (or Elliott, reserved though he may be). Maybe it's just because this is a pop competition - maybe he perpetually feels like a fish out of water...I dunno. I just don't feel it. Almost like the Goth Kids on South Park -- Chris is "Alterna-Kid." BUT -- however bored I am by him, I do not deny his talent.

Wasn't a total trainwreck, but it wasn't good.1. Taylor, he was back and he entertained. 2. Elliot, if he would just let go; he could be great. 3. Katherine, too bad she screamed the high notes and I had that exact outfit in the 80's. 4. Bucky, bar performance. 5. Chris, he yelled/growled it just fine. But I agree with Simon, there's a reason Queen never did that song live. 6. Kellie, not quite the trainwreck I was expecting. 7. Paris, OMH. So tired of little miss dressup. 8. Ace, should have listened to the band ya dweeb. Save a horse, ride a cowboy.

I was really surprised how much better everyone did than I expected. This week is tougher to rank, because vocally everyone had their hits & misses so this is on overall ENTERTAINMENT value.1. TAYLOR - LOVE my man Taylor. His performances are infectious and I get giddy enjoyment watching him perform and it doesn't hurt that he has a GREAT quality & sound to his voice that makes him more unique than most. Great choice to change songs -- his missing of the mic kick was cute. He's just great. 2. KELLIE - She gets extra points for doing a surprisingly decent job. I still love the tone of her voice & she was S.M.O.K.I.N.G. last night. It's believable that she didn't understand the "on paper" analogy. I run into people all the time who surprise me by their unfamiliarity with sayings that I think are common knowledge. Plus she said she has a hard time with Simon's ACCENT (that was cute) and he pointed right back at her. 3. CHRIS - I'm a huge fan, BUT I just wasn't excited by his performance. I think Simon was right that he missed his chance to have "his moment." The song is so-so and there were SO MANY to choose from. Really good performance, but not a great song choice. 4. KATHARINE - She has such a beautiful voice & she's such a beautiful girl. I think she was trying too hard last night which affected her a little bit vocally. Still a great performance and I can see her with a recording/acting career -- on stage, TV and/or movies. Looks & talent will get her places. 5. BUCKY - I really enjoyed his performance, unfortunately he was outshone by others later in the show. Bucky's starting to grow on me & I hope he makes it another week. 6. ELLIOTT - I don't know why, but he bores me. Overall, his vocals were good last night & better than most, but there's no life in him up there. I don't get excited to see how his performance is going to be. I look forward with anticipation to Chris, Taylor, Kellie -- but Elliott just leaves me cold. 7. ACE - I felt bad for Ace last night. That clip before his performance roasted him -- yikes! I give him credit for trying to rearrange the song because the judge's CONSTANTLY say that if they are doing a song by someone legendary, you either do it BETTER (basically impossible) or CHANGE IT to make it COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. Ace can't outsing Freddie, so he was going to change the song -- unfortunately, Queen didn't like that idea so much. It wasn't horrible, although a little uneven. I wish he was given the liberty to rearrange it completely the way he wanted, so it would be easier to criticize him. I did like some of the vocal changes he did, but it was choppy. Good effort, Ace. 8. PARIS - I would rather have Lisa or Mandisa in the competition. Paris just doesn't do anything for me. I will say that VOCALLY, I thought that was one of her best performances and if I closed my eyes I would have enjoyed it much better. H.A.T.E.D. her hoochie mom-is-a-stripper-and-I-raided-her-closet-to-play-dress-up look. All of it was bad from the wig down to her toes. Terrible. Kind Creation of ARNutz

WOW, I must be watching a totally different show than the majority on here. ::: runs ::: This season is very disappointing to me.
To boot off Mandisa, and KEEP Ace, Bucky, and Kellie?? (*SiGh*)
Thank Heavens for CHRIS (if he's not this season's winner, he will go on and sell the most records out of every Idol contestant this season). This man is untouchable. Elliot, one of the best vocals on the history of this show (EXCEPT for his Virbrato that is waaaay overbearing. When Elliot gets signed, no one wants to hear a 'lamb' singing, I'm sure whatever company he's signed to will tell and teach him to tone his overboard virbrato down). * Other than that, I'd be suprised if it WASN'T a: Chris VS. Elliot final two. Taylor, he's hella unique... I love his spark, energy, charisma, he's so different and with so much soul. He won't win, but he should be in the top 4.
Katharine, one of my faves. She's been pretty pitchy the last few weeks (actually she's always been pretty pitchy)... but with more vocal training, and when she gets signed... she'll be on her game. I love her voice. Bucky and Ace... I think BOTH started off awesome this Season, then gradually they've become VERY boring. What are they still DOING here??
Same goes for Kellie, she sounds "karaoke" at best when she sings Country songs, and when she sings other genres, it's more like MEDIOCRE at best. (She's THIS season's Nikki Mckibbon from Season 1). BOTH karaoke singers, BOTH made it waaay too far in their season, and BOTH will be forgotten by the time the next season premieres. Kellie should've been booted off the same night the girl sang "Hero". AYLA should've made it instead of Kellie (and Ayla wasn't even good!) So yeah... America voted off Mandisa (who can out sing ANY of the females combined this Season, and they kept the weakest singers: Ace, BUCKY, and Kellie?) I'm scratching my head.

This is going on a tangent to another topic, but you started it.Bo made an album i really liked, but i agree it is NOT the album he would have chose to make. He was under the pressures of the marketeers who wanted him to make an album with broader appeal. That is the problem with marketeers. I'm hoping that Bo's followup will be more along the lines of the album he wanted to make, and perhaps it will do better. if you buy the DualDisc of "The Real Thing" and listen to the three bonus tracks on the DVD which he recorded with his band, they're amazing. Its the real Bo. I like the CD, but... Its the reality of the music biz. geekboy

Elliot - Tough song. Impressive, even more so second time I heard it.Katherine -Wanted her to hit the big note, but she just cannot do it. Still very good Taylor - He is back. Thank goodnes. Kellie - I thought she might be gone..no Constantine, but was good. Paris - Thought it would be better, but was pretty good. Bucky - Should have been gone first week, but is improving more than most. Chris - Big fan losing interest. How many times do I have to hear the same words. He is his only competition, but for 3 the last three weeks he has not impressed. Ace - How can you mess up the chorus to such a famous song. I actually liked the first 10-15 seconds. After your best week since the first of the final 24, you mess up a classic. Later Ace.

Queen was very interesting in their short commentaries on each contestant. It's interesting to me how a lot of people seem to be "dissing" Paris but Queen REALLY liked her. Queen looked really kinda sober to me when they talked about certain contestants, but not with her. So I just thought that was interesting. Carry on....

As usual, posting before reading... Overall, the Queen theme wasn't as disastrous as I would have thought.1) Elliot Yamin - Dayummm, that took me by surprise. Love his range. 2) Taylor Hicks - What fun! He's back, and it wsa a great song choice. Nice growl. 3) Bucky Covington - I really hope he's safe this week. His voice sounds A LOT better if you don't stare directly at him. 4) Katharine - Out of default, the rest were awful. 5) Kellie - Could have been abysmal, was only crappy. 6) Chris - Eyeliner? It works on men a lot of the time, just didn't work for me on Chris. I told DH, "wow, I could be on AI - listen: 'AAAAHHHH, YEAHHHH, UHHHHHHH'" 7) Crappy McCraperson - Again with the eyeliner. Yuck. I was laughing when Queen laughed at him. 8) Paris - Please leave now - I know I'm not alone with the "thenk yewwwww"s. I.Hate.Paris.

Four dead birds:Taylor - I like him like this. Bud "Elliot" Bundy - He would have gotten the extra corpse if he had just had stage presence. Chris - always sounds good to me, but he loses a tasty morsel for sounding the same...again. Three dead birds: Bucky - again, I am oddly attracted to Bucky and I want to be his teacher. He loses two birds for just not being all that great. Two dead birds: Paris - I was just "so what." Droppings: Ace - but I don't want him to go because I derive pleasure from his silly performances. That ghastly falsetto that he works into each song makes my testicles hurt, and I'm a chick. Queen Katherine - Pitchy. Those high notes were screeches. She sucks. Kelly "Does Dallas" Pukelage - Horrific. Rolly made this.
