Showing lots of enthusiasm and moving, but off the pitch by just that much. I think his growl is contributing. (JMHO) Judges' comments: Randy, nice way to start the show, lots of energy, some pitch problems but liked it. Paula, interesting that kept true to himself and made the song a country song. Simon, good song choice, song bigger than he, would rank it a mediocre performance.

Most of the songs that are so are hard on the idols to do are those songs with really big ranges, but this song is so single noted that it also is hard. If you do not have a big enough voice to do the constant pounding of the one note over and over really does not work at all.

but he can't sing.I love Bucky, but his technique promises to ruin his vocal chords within a year. He needs to stop singing in his neck, and he needs to sing in a higher key. I LOVE his warmth, but his technical talents and lack of natural ability will sink him. 6 months with a good vocal coach could turn this around completely.

Judges' comments: Randy, that's a big song, worried how he would bring it down, a 5 or 6, just all right. Paula, understood why the band wouldn't change for him, liked how he paid tribute in the beginning, little pitchy, appreciated he took a risk. Simon, Randy was being generous, was a complete and utter mess, was all over the place, forgot the words, didn't work, really hated it.

That is why it was never preformed live.

an excellent vocalist, and probably one of the best prepared ones in the competition, besides Paris and Elliot.Her performance tonight was a B+. At the very beginning and very end of the song, she had some pitch indefinition problems. All she needs to do is relax and let the notes come out. She has a glorious instrument, and she is a beautiful girl. She can go really far in the business, regardless of what happens in this competition. I really like her. --Singer

1-866-IDOLS-06I like Elliott's voice. I just don't think this was the song for him, although he does a good job with it. Judges' comments: Randy, arguably the hardest song tonight to sing, some pitch problems but loved him overall, really good. Paula, best vocal tonight, took the best parts of the song, best Elliott Yamin perforance. Simon, chose a tough song, overall pulled it off.

1-866-IDOLS-08This may be the first time in a long time I've actually enjoyed one of her performances. Usually she just gets on my nerves. She's handling the key changes and minor keys well. (not great, but better than most of the others.) Judges' comments: Randy, knew it would be hard, started rough, worked it out in the end. Paula, everyone is finding out the powerhouse that she is. Simon, finds it all a little weird...(but like many deserving Oscar winners, the music plays him off before he's able to finish his comment, so we can only speculate what he was going to say. Should we start a separate thread? No, just kidding.)
