"Reflections on Average Joe"
I watched Average Joe from the beginning to end, never having missed an episode. I, like many of you, was disappointed that Adam was passed over when Melana made her final choice. Upon reflection, however, I wasn't surprised. Why? Ask yourself why Melana was motivated to participate in this show. Was it to find true love or was it to advance her acting career? I believe it was the latter and if she found a lover/boyfriend along the way, that was a bonus. I am certain that, in Adam, Melana saw a potential long term relationship with marriage being the final destination. However, I don't believe that she was interested in being a wife and mother at this point in her life in spite of what she may have said on the show. Her career is her main focus. As for Jason, a long term relationship is unrealistic. He is in no position to provide her with any sense of stability, financial or otherwise, as a student living with his parents. By having Melana choose the "pretty boy", NBC is able to maximize publicity for the show with two highly photogenic people. She maintains a short term relationship with Jason knowing that it will end once the public spotlight dies down. Melana can then add this to her acting resume and pursue other television projects. Jason can regale his college buddies with stories of his romantic evenings with Melana at keg parties. As for Adam, I firmly believe he is the ultimate winner. He proved himself to be a gentleman throughout the entire process and I am sure that his stock among the female population has risen considerably.

1. "RE: Reflections on Average Joe"
Welcome to the forums. Since many folks are posting their reflections in the threads discussing the ending of the show, I'm locking this thread to keep discussion focused. I encourage you to join in on the existing discussions on the forums.

We really do have guidelines here. Believe it or not, the Guidelines make things more fun. Really.
