"Idol ringers? MSN story"
MSN has a video clip of a story they did on MSNBC about 4 of the idol contestants that are 'ringers' because they are professionals--watch their clip:

The link to MSN's vid clips is: http://video.msn.com

or you can find the link under the story about Chris: http://entertainment.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=219429

The professionals?

Paris--has opened for acts like Bow Wow

Lisa--was the lead in Lion King in LA

Ace--is on some UPN sitcom ; the ep will be rerun on 4/3/06

Mandisa--has sung with many other professionals (can't recall who they listed).

You're right, it probably is for the peeps that really don't even watch the early audition rounds.

And I say ...

"So What?!"

Where in the rules do they have to be amateurs? Its "open auditions" with an age limit. Also, if they truly were "pros" then wouldn't you think they could get a better contract than what AI gives the winner??

I think the rules have to do with record contracts, not if you ever sung in public for money.

There was a thing about Taylor by Bo as they used to both sing in the same bars/clubs down in Alabama and knew each other from those times.

Constantine last year sang in Rent wasn't it.

A lot of people have gotten a bit of work singing here or there, or played in bars/clubs.

I think the competition would be a lot worse if you had the rule that you never ever ever got payed in anyway to sing in anyway at anytime.

I don't care if they have some performance experience where they may have made some money or not, but that is just me.

Imaginary friends by Bob!

Hey, it is MSN's story...just bringing it over here. Geesh.

I expected Taylor to be on the list because we know from fan sites that he has performed a lot in public.

P.S. MSN discusses AI's rules...they are just pointing out who has professional experience and may be more comfortable performing in front of a crowd as compared to a Kevin C. (watch the story).

I know you were just bringing it over here. I'm not knocking you for bringing it over - i'm simply stating my response, which is "So What."

I say that to a surprising number of "news stories" i see in the media. Don't take it personally.
