"The Dung Has Hit the Fan! Or, can antelope poo be a spoiler?" |
MB must have had so much fun sticking in that quick shot of a defecating antelope. But coming where it did in the show, just after the start of the 'twist' I think he was sending a message loud and clear. Everything we thought we knew about Survivor is just so much sh*t, from this point on. Expect more twists (Jeffy already hinted at this in the last TC). Burn-it is just starting to have fun. The sh*t has surely hit the fan. For instance, why expect the current reformed teams to remain static? If Lindsay is voted off next week, as seems likely, then he can switch again, putting Brandon & Little Kim in with Ethan Clarence & MammaKim. Which would make the 2nd tribe composed of Frank & Teresa with Lex, Tom & Kelly. Do I have any evidence? Not much. Jeff said at the last Tribal Council that one of the things both tribes thought they knew was a merge. What if there is no merge? (This has been mentioned elsewhere, but I don't remember where to reference it--maybe someone can help me out here.) If he recombines the tribes again, all future jury members would know all the finalists well. Maybe even better than under the old merge sequence. This would also continue the process of disrupting all friendships & alliances, not just some. I admit, this is a lot to get from one quick scene of a sh*tting antelope. Maybe MB just liked the shot, and knew it would mess with the minds of idiots like me. Maybe the clip is from his private collection, Defecating Herbivores of Africa. Who knows? But I think it is an unambiguous signal, using one of his standard hint forms--the animal shot. And I look forward to being shot down for this post. Swami

2. "The antelope shot" |
LAST EDITED ON 11-09-01 AT 08:29 PM (EST)Wasn't that included during the discussion by the ex-Boran about Samburu? I read the shot as telling us that those three "got sh!t on" when they had to leave cozy Boran to join the Sammies. It was interesting to hear the discussion of Samburu's dilapidated camp versus Boran's camp -- for those of you who remember S1, that was a very similar discussion to the one that took place when Tagi and Pagong merged. I presume Island Heat talked about it in his summary from S1 E7 ("Gretchen, Gretchen, Gretchen" -- you should read it if you never have) -- that was why there was no doubt that the merged tribe was moving to Tagi. And, sure enough, it looks like Samburu is about to be Pagonged.
