I am glad that I am not the only one who fails to see Ruben's talents. Yes, he is a capable singer with a smooth voice, but nothing really special. He does not always hit the notes (something he has not been called on by the judges even though they always point out "pitch" problems to others). He has a very limited range in both style and scale. He is simply boring. To contrast, while Clay is not perfect, he hits the right notes 99% of the time. His vocal quality is more resonant. He has a better range. I don't even see the contest, but obviously a lot of people disagree.   Top

No, you're not the only one, and I think we'll see more digs on Clay to favor Ruben next week. Case in point--Simon doesn't like anything that smacks of Broadway, so of course he's gonna crack on 'Grease'. However, he also gave Clay one of the biggest compliments of the series on his first song. Guess which comment they didn't include in the clip montage from last night's show?   Top

Yep, and didn't Ryan say something like - "Rueben gave the night's unsurpassed performance." Which seemed strange to me, given Clay's first song. THAT was better than either of Ruebens. Though I will say, I'm not a Rueben fan but I was very impressed by his second song, more than I have been for any of his others. But Clay's first was still better than that, no comparism.   Top

I think it is pretty obvious. But to be fair, he was on The Daily Show last night and said Ruben and Clay are the best and either one of them deserves to win. I'm just glad the judges don't get to pick, because I am pretty sure Simon wants Ruben to win too, although he may be coming around now that Clay is showing more "pop star" stuff and less "Broadway"   Top

Both Clarkson and Aiken "are what I would describe as 'middle America'", Cowell says. "I said he was more Broadway than pop star, but I think he could end up making more money than anyone who's ever entered this competition."   Top

Up to this point, I proudly voted for Josh, since I am a big country music fan and loved his voice.Not that I didn't think Clay wasn't without his appeal just that I could tell we'd see him on Broadway real soon. But I would vote for anyone just to beach this whale and vote I will.   Top

"RE: cross your fingers" Cross your fingers for a good performance by Kim L, as well. I think her fan pool and Ruben's are more likely to overlap than hers and Clay's, and last time Kim had a really solid performance, Ruben ended up in the bottom two. I think it WASN'T just complacency on the part of Ruben's fans; Kim stole them away, but handed them right back last week.   Top
