LAST EDITED ON 03-08-06 AT 04:58 AM (EST)I haven't seen any song spoilers yet, but I do have this: And I quote,
"That rumor about Katharine McPhee leaving Idol had a kernel of truth to it. Rumor has it, all of the contestants are feeling the stress and exhaustion from the show's long hours--which showed in last night's low energy performances. And, when Katharine, who lives in the local LA area, wanted to leave the hotel to go home and rest--some of the kids complained. After all, most of the contestants are miles away from their own homes, without the luxury of family nearby, like Katharine. They felt allowing her to go home just wouldn't be fair. The producers made her stay, but her mom was insisting that she be allowed to leave. Mom said that if she "doesn't get the rest that she needs," they would find somebody to get Katharine medically released from her contract. This happened over the weekend--and you will note that Katharine is still with us--so not to worry. That tidbit, making its way around the internets, originally found at Survivor Sucks."
I haven't seen any posts related to this in these boards, and I'm not sure how reliable the source is (although his/her song spoilers have been correct for the last two weeks). ADDENDA: Will Makar - "How Sweet It Is" by James Taylor Taylor Hicks - "Taking It To the Streets" by Michael McDonald Gedeon McKinney - "When a Man Loves a Woman" by Percy Sledge Kevin Covais - "Vincent" by Don McLean Chris Daughtry - "Broken" by Seether Ace Young - "Butterflies" by Michael Jackson Elliott Yamin - "Heaven" by Bryan Adams "Vincent" is back on Idol? I remember how Clay massacred that song! And Michael Jackson! And, IMO, one of the most overplayed songs in history ("Heaven")! Again, I'm not sure about the reliability of the source. Just clearing that up

I admit, I'm an Ace fan. I hope the dire predictions don't come true. I don't remember "Butterflies". Which album was it on. Not that I own any MJ albums since "Thriller".

LAST EDITED ON 03-08-06 AT 11:50 AM (EST)Now, _IF_ these spoilers are true, i have the following comments and predictions: >> Will Makar - "How Sweet It Is" by James Taylor Will once again will get slammed by Simon for having his auntie pick his songs. And, it will be a valid slam since they suggested he pick something more contemporary to fit his age. Same goes for Paris/Lisa. >> Taylor Hicks - "Taking It To the Streets" by Michael McDonald FINALLY, a potentially good song choice to showcase his voice. I have hopes for it. >> Gedeon McKinney - "When a Man Loves a Woman" by Percy Sledge Although not my favorite contestant because of comments i've made in other threads, at least HE is following the judges' suggestions and sticking to what they say he does best. >> Kevin Covais - "Vincent" by Don McLean Almost certainly a trainwreck of epic proportions. I was telling my wife that if Kevin was smart, he'd bring back 'You Raise Me Up' from his auditions and do that this week, but no... >> Chris Daughtry - "Broken" by Seether I'm not familiar with the song, but given his track record he will shine. >> Ace Young - "Butterflies" by Michael Jackson Others have been criticized for taking on MJ, and then here goes Ace with a not-so-familiar song by MJ. Go figure. Bubye? >> Elliott Yamin - "Heaven" by Bryan Adams I'm quite surprised by this choice, but at least it isn't another Stevie Wonder song. The boy has the pipes, lets hope he puts some unique spin on it. Predictions: Kevin, Will, Ace will be struggling. geekboy

Ranking predictions assuming these are true:Chris Daughtry - "Broken" by Seether oooo this will be good. You folks who say you don't know the song have probably heard it. Amy Lee from Evanescence does the song with Seether. It's a very sad song and sad video. Anyhoo, it is perfect for Chris' voice. He's going to nail me it. Taylor Hicks - "Taking It To the Streets" by Michael McDonald I hate this song and pretty much anything by MM, but when I picture Taylor singing it, it kinda words for me. The song is sort of bluesy. However, I can totally see the background singers grandstanding on this one the way they did with some of the girls last night. It doesn't do the lead singer any favours when the bg singers are sooooo loud. Gedeon McKinney - "When a Man Loves a Woman" by Percy Sledge In spite of his cocky, smartarse attitude, I think he'll hit this one out of the park. He has a good voice and good delivery and his confidence/cockiness works for him onstage. Elliott Yamin - "Heaven" by Bryan Adams I'll believe it when I see it. Ick. Ace Young - "Butterflies" by Michael Jackson Ick. Will Makar - "How Sweet It Is" by James Taylor Mwwaaahahahahahaha!! Yes, I agree his aunt probably picked this, or he wanted to sing about how sweet it is to be on the show. Geez...these guys have to stop picking "meaningful" songs. Kevin Covais - "Vincent" by Don McLean *boggle* Rolly made this.

Okay I am propably not going out on a limb much from what I am reading. I don't think anything that kevin will do can save him. Having said that, Bucky, Ace, Gedeon and Will shall fight to stay out of the bottom 2. If Ace sings the MJ song like he sang last week he should be gone no matter what anyone else does. Because even if you do not like they song selection there voices are better than Ace's so far. If by some mircale he pull one out of his A-- which would shock me, it would be a miracle. Will and Gedeon should be able to handle these songs. BUT ACE'S LOOKS AND NOT HIS TALENT MAY PULL HIM THROUGH WHICH WOULD BE A TRAGEDY. NUFF SAID, JAGS

Wow. I'm sorry I'm going to miss tonight. There are going to be a couple of train wrecks.I think Taylor will be able to pull off the Doobies with no trouble. Same for Gedeon. He's grown on me, despite earlier cockiness. I hadn't realized how freakin young he is. I think Elliott is such a good performer that he'll be able to work Heaven just fine. Don't know Seether either (I'm a poet!!) but I'm sure Chris will have no problems. I do hope, however, that he really tears it up tonight, or soon. To me he seems to be holding back a little. I want to see him go at it like some of the singers on Rock Star. Ace "I can sing through my nose just like all the boy bands" Frehley Young (oy, that's got to be a stage name) will probably be crap on any MJ song. Poor Will - he's a very good singer, but he is going to get spanked for his song choice. As he should. As for Kevin...this is not the Winnebago County School District Annual Talent Show and Bake Sale. He will suck wind on Vincent. Please, send him home.
