"Ep. 4 Highlights" |
Oops, I missed the beginning of the show, so these are abridged highlights. When I tuned in, the models were dressing themselves for some stylist guy with Tyra. This segment was notable because Camille again refused to accept comment and Catie AGAIN got all teary and upset (Catie must go!) because her appearance was "whoreish." This segment also made it even more clear that Mercedes, Yoanna and April are the favorites. This episode had two more subplots: First, Mercedes has Lupus. She is tired and down and her hair is falling out, but she is hanging in there. Gotta love that plucky Mercedes. Does this mean that Mercedes is going to go soon because she's sick, or is she going to hang around a long time because when the going gets tough, Mercedes gets going? Subplot #2: The models dress themselves again to be rated by crazy designer from the past Betsey Johnson. Betsey shows her nuttiness is more than skin-deep when she picks Shandi as the best because her personality couldn't be covered up by the clothes. She said this because Shandi managed to be gawky as ever in a lame attempt at being sensuous, but her geekinesss shined through. Hmm. Anyway, the reward was dinner out with original Top Model Adrianne. Shandi took Xiomara and Yoanna. Yoanna seems to be quite popular with the other girls, Camille notwithstanding. This segment showed us nothing about the current contestants, but did show that Adrianne is really on a whole 'nother level as a model, looking better than ever (but still not talking so well), and that Adrianne also likes to smoke all the time. Then the big segment: This week's photo shoot was all about each contestant simulating some celebrity Let me see if I recall: Yoanna-Audrey Hepburn (a natural choice) Jenascia-Salma Hayek (because Salma is also short) Camille-Diana Ross (perfect in so many ways) Shandi-Nicole Kidman (um, no, I don't think so) Sara-Angelina Jolie (close, but no cigar) April-Catherine Zeta-Jones Mercedes-Billie Holliday (and some great photos) Catie-Marilyn Monroe (WHAT-ever. not even!) Xiomara-Grace Jones (too perfect!) Xiomara is upset about Grace Jones. Why? Because Grace has darker skin and Xiomara has a problem with that. This is an interesting issue to consider, the attitudes people have about skin tone within their own group. But moving right along, the transformation works. Finally, the girls appear before the judges in black cocktail dresses and have one minute to jazz them up for a night out on the town. The judges tell most of the girls to take off nearly all the accessories they have chosen. Camille argues with the judges some more. Jenascia puts her hat back on after speaking with the judges. This is not a good sign for Jenascia. The final two are Catie and Jenascia. Oh, how I hope Catie goes, but I don't think they are going to eliminate three blondes in a row. Sure enough, Jenascia goes. Too bad, she was one of the more likable (but not really all that special looking) competitors. Jenascia says the house is going to suck without her, which is probably true. But the increased cattiness without her around should be entertaining. Next week: Well, I forgot what's coming next week, except that Mercedes' Lupus apparently is revealed. Feel free to improve this summary!

2. "RE: Ep. 4 Highlights" |
Good summary! The only thing you missed in the begining was the girls heading off to the gym to box. I guess the trainer (I forget his name) turned it into a 'last model standing' competition to see who could last the longest boxing. It came down to Camille and April. All the other girls were rooting for April (naturally). They both lasted the longest boxing wise and, like men, turned to push ups to see who would be the winner. April won. Oh - and Camille broke Xiomarie's fugly earring during "dress up with Betsey Johnson" time...Xio (can I just call her that now?) got all fired up and shoved it in Camille's face "you broke it you broke it". Camille said she has a friend in the jewelry biz and will get it fixed. Xio is happy, walks away, Camille rolls her eyes. 2 scenes later Xio is wearing the earrings. huh?!?!? Adrienne made a comment - don't know if anyone else caught it...she said she was primarily doing the Diamond ad's (what model gets to take diamond's home after? please...) and that "Revlon is on the back burner"
hmmm...maybe a reason why Revlon isn't sponsoring it again this year?

I noticed that too and I thought that was the funniest thing said last night. Did you also notice that Tyra was wearing almost the same outfit as Katie in the "dress as yourself" contest. It was the same down to the legwarmers. So it was a prostitutes outfit on Katie and a super models on Tyra?
