"And so the countdown begins!"
Another season of AI is almost here. It's so interesting to me how the show seems to reach viewers of all ages. I have older school age kids, they are hooked. I am hooked. My dad and his girlfriend are hooked. That's three generations. Do you all think it's that everyone loves a competition or more the singing aspect that makes this show appeal to so many? Or something else?

Well, I am counting down. This is the only show that my whole family watches together, and enjoys. My sons.. 12, 10 and 4, my husband (who is 48) loves it.

I think it is a combination of everything, the singing, the competition.. everything. I? am hooked.

One big reason I watch is to hear Simon's acerbic comments. Hmmmm - not sure what that says about me. HA!

Everyone is entitled to my opinion.

A lot of people i talk to like the first set of episodes with all the people that cannot sing. To me, personally, this is the more boring aspect of the show.

I like the competition, I like seeing how these people handle the differnt themes, song selection, and the pressure. I like seeing who is the most versatile (and who isn't). But ultimately, i like seeing the competitors grow over the months of the competition.

And Simon is fun too.

everything you said, geekboy. I wish they'd get an additional judge, though. Someone with the personality of Amy Yasbeck. She is fun. A little hyper, but very fun (and gorgeous too).

(As an aside, Amy Yasbeck was on Days of Our Lives 22 years ago when she was very young and very blond. She is completely unrecognizable today compared to that time. Had to look up her IMDB as I suspected she was the same person.)

At first, I think our family loved the show just to listen to Simon and his blunt opinions. Randy had the more sensible reviews-however, that has seemed to changed into rhetoric, and Paula was so nice.

Now I have to say, we're listening/watching because they are starting to show some really talented people.

6. "Another AI countdown"
Just heard yesterday that they will be showing season 1 in syndication next fall. I'm looking forward to that. I didn't watch the first season though my daughter did. She is absolutely nuts about Kelly. I am too now. I can't wait to see the buildup to her "Stuff Like That There" performance. The girl is absolutely amazing (although I HATE HATE HATE her new blond look - why do so many of them feel that they have to do that? UGH!)

What was more impressive was her singing Celine Dion's "I Surrender" while suffering from a sore throad/cold.
