Well, well, well....So you wanna vote do you? How bad do you want it? Reaaaaallly bad...or just BAD bad? I won't make you beg....this time. Special thanks to me amigo Sherps for starting last weeks vote thread. Sharing is good. Here, once again, are the vote thread rules...now given to you in interpretive dance! *Superman waves his hands above his head wildly, then falls to the floor in a lifeless heap* Which means: 1. Reply only to this post! *Superman rises from the heap, jumps into the air and slaps himself on the left buttock* Which means: 2. Put the name of your choice for this weeks bootee in the SUBJECT heading! *Superman lands gracefully and then pinches his lips closed* Which means: 3. This is NOT a discussion thread! Do not treat it as such! *Superman points to his chin and then frames his face in his hands* Which means: 4. Don't hate me because I'm beautiful! *Superman takes a bow* Ok folks, the voting thread was beautifully done and easy to read for the first 2 weeks. There were a few exceptions and they know who they are....but just in case they don't remember, here's a list of their names: wilsoa2000 7o62x39 xrunner MDSkinner weltek 5foot3 ....and *gasp* SherpaDave.....and SurvivorBlows! This people have blatently violated vote thread rules and have been added to "The List." Please feel free to taunt them in the message portion of your vote post! And as always...HAPPY VOTING!

LAST EDITED ON 10-24-01 AT 12:58 PM (EST)I don;t think that there is much doubt that should Samburu lose the IC, Brandon goes first. He is a big pain in the ass and will be the leader of the Young Samburus civil disobedience in E3. The case for Mamakim, is based upon 1) minor evidence of Kelly going E4 and speculation that 2) Mamakim would go before Kelly. This is pretty weak. There are several aspects majority/purality view I don't buy. 1) We have not had a storyline development of the mamakim nickname. Nor the need for it if the two Kim or at least mamakim doesn't make the merge. 2) We have the URL registration of Kim P's nickname "Little Bit" 3) Age as well as gender has been a strong basis of alliances throughout Survivor. 4) The speculated Kelly-Ethan Jewish alliance has not been seen, although it could exist. But it appears to me that Lex and Kim are as in control of voting targets as anyone else in Boran. 5) "The gods are angry" to me suggests a Samburu conflict, ref. Linda's ancestorial - respect theme which was placed into the storyline and has not been yet built upon. 6) Lindsey and perhaps others are thought to get sick, if so perhaps weakening Samburu at the IC The way things are shaping up the Old Samburu Alliance could be in a heap of trouble after the merge. By declaring themselves so militantly and strongly they have given every reason for Silas and any other young Samburu's to defect to the remnant Borans, who will be reduced but tight. Here's my boot order take: 1 Diane 2 Jessie 3 Brandon 4 Kelly 5 Lindsey 6 Clarence Merge Here's Old Samburu's complex suballiances: Frank + Carl - Age, Gender bond Carl + Teresa - Trust bond Teresa + Linda - Age, Gender bond resulting in: ((Frank + "Carl) + {Teresa" + Linda}) < ((Lex + Mamkim + Ethan + Tom) + (Kim P + Silas)) The destruction of the Old Samburus begins at the merge with Frank going E7. Cheers 7

18. "Brandi...no, KimJ...no, Linz...no, ok it's BRANDON" |
Compelling arguments can be made for quite a few people, but I'm leaning towards Brandon because too much has been directed on the possibility of 4 Borans getting booted in a row, that I believe that MB may have planted some "evidence" to throw people off. Lindsey has gotten too much negative face time in the preview, therefore she stays. Kelly either goes in ep.4 or it's a local station trumpeting her performance to date (DK's spoiler). Clarence... good arguments have been made that he could lose out on a tiebreak if he convinces the women to vote along with him or the women gang up hoping that Tom will continue to vote "C.B." -- but I'm not ready to jump on that bandwagon yet. Kim J. seems a little too obvious at this point as part of the misdirection edited towards the possible pagonging of the Borans. IMO, most of the others are safe, but as Ep.2 showed, nothing is "for sure" in this show. So... that leaves Brandon. The preview said someone gets in trouble cooking for his "friends" and I believe this may be in reference to Brandon thumbing his snotty nose at the elders and opening up some food while the Viagra folks were on a water run. I ought to vote Kim P. or Ethan... I've often been wrong and being wrong this week would mean Brandon stays! "What's wrong with her?" "Oh, it's gonna blow up, dude... in 5 minutes, dude. It's gonna hit the (bleep) ceiling." "It is?" "Oh yeah." (maniacal laughter) Anthony (talking to Adrian) on LC, Oct. 9/01

I wish Samburu would lose to even things up... From the ep. 4 preview, it sounds suggestively like Boran loses another member. Additionally, MB footage of the EP 3 IC challenge showed Boran winning, but a) he usually shows footage where the team that is leading is opposite of the team that wins and b) we saw that Kim J and Kelly get in trouble partway through the race. If Boran loses, the men will vote out the weakest link. This could be Kelly, but I see Kim J as more isolated from the group and probably less physically fit in the minds of the guys. Should Samburu lose I pick Brandon as my alternate. Silas will probably defect for now (I suppose the ep. 4 "cracking" could be a member of the older alliance feeling bad/screwed - Teresa?). Kim P seems to have a bond with Carl and be the most personable of the useless ones, and Lindsey was already hinted at in the preview (flipping Frank off, crying). So it's not her. Brandon is the leader of the mallrats, making him a good target, and he's not a physical advantage over the women.

Keeping it simple here in the reasoning department:Two challenges are shown: The INTENSLY physical 'dung ball' race; and A rehash of the SOS challenge. The SOS challenge is judged by a subjective decision on visibility. A subjectively judged challenge will NOT be used for IC. A race is judged by the objective standard of crosses the line first. The dung ball race IS the IMMUNITY Challenge. Boran does not have the horses to pull off a physical challenge win. They have not recovered from the physical effects of dehydration. They will continue to lose physical challenges. Boran will lose the IC, they will chose the person who presents the largest physical deficit - Kim J. Her age, lack of physical strength, and demonstrated inability during challenges will see her chosen as Boran's next member to take the long walk out of the village. The argument that Kim J's 'Lil Bit' nickname has not been developed on the show is weak as it could just as well be a nickname she had before the show. Tom was called 'Big Tom' before he went on the show. Boran loses, Kim J. goes... but watch for MB to throw Boran a moral 'bone' by letting them win the RC. It's a frikkin beauty contest! MB tells Jiffy who to pick and who ever MB wants to win the RC will win the RC. It is in MB's best interest to get these losers motivated. Having them get skunked at the RC would not help their moral (and their subsequent effort) at all. You can always change your vote people! ;)

Besides the obvious reasons (age, eating dirt), why choose Kim J over Kelly? Because the men get wind of her trying to form an all woman alliance (her attempts were stated in some of those xtra CBS clip thingees), Kelly probably narcs on her to get the heat off herself. They see her as the most troublesome and dangerous, and althought they do like her, out she goes.

The aerial pictures show the yellow Boran dung ball in the lead. Editing to mislead the viewer to conclude a Boran victory…Conclusion: Boran loses the IC.The post IC pictures are ambiguous, but put in context, Tom is tired and dejected, Ethan the soccer player, puts on his good sportsmanship face and says “good game” in defeat. Kim J. and Kelly hug to console each other because they know that one of them must go this week. Brandon breaths a sigh of relief because he just dodged a bullet...Conclusion: Boran loses the IC. Lindsay's injury is a red herring. Lindsay is safe...Conclusion: Samburu are safe. EP4 Preview text states..."the generation gap CONTINUES to split loyalties among the young and old." suggesting that the basic relationships and group dynamics have not changed significantly...Conclusion: Samburu safe in EP3. EP4 Preview text also states..."Meanwhile 2 members of Boran tribe who are especially nervous about being the next to be voted out of the tribe make SEPERATE attempts to stay in the game." The 2 Boran members are especially nervous because they are more vulnerable and more desperate now that the tribe is down to 5. They make "SEPERATE attempts" because they do not have a strong bond, suggesting Clarence and either KIM J. or KELLY...Conclusion: Boran loses another female member in EP3. Dangerkitty’s thread on the interview following EP4 suggests that Kelly will go in EP4 and is therefore not the female Boran to go this week…Conclusion: Kim J. gets the boot in EP3. Episode 5: “The Twist” You've seen the show And think you know the game But this being Survivor Things aren't always the same So tune in to see Who's the one they dismiss This is definitely the episode You don't want to miss
A Sweep by the Samburu sets up a situation for things that "aren’t the same". The twist is the result of something new and I am speculating that the Samburu finally go to TC in EP5 and end in a 4-4 deadlocked vote, with no previous votes cast. This situation would require a “twist” to resolve the deadlock and determine who to “dismiss”.Conclusion: regardless of what the twist is, it results from a Samburu sweep leading up to it. The post IC pictures still bother me, but all the pieces fit togther to paint a fairly clear picture...Goodbye Momma Kim. Krautboy

If Boran loses another IC, and I think they will (for all the reasons already stated by others), then it's Kim who goes. She is the most obvious weak link, and of course I must use my own "spoiler" that Kelly goes in Ep 4, so that means Kim goes Ep 3. Although just for the record, I realize that the teacher interview could mean that she STAYS in Ep 4, and it's a "spotlight on the local girl in the game" deal. I wish I had more info to share. Selfishly, I hope it's true, though, so I can for once be famous for a big spoiler hehehehe.

I'm tired of trying to figure this one out. I don't have a clue. For some reason, I just don't have a good feeling about MamaKim going this week. I think the 2 people worried next week are MamaKim and Kelly. Too much time has been invested in this "battle of the ages" thing on Samburu - the payoff will happen this week. Brandon is worthless - and I think his lack of cigarettes must be making him pretty damn cranky by now. The cooking will be the last straw. But for the record - I can't ever remember feeling less certain of a pick. the great entity of the thread

Okay... here's the deal:Boran wins IC 1) Challenges typically alternate physical/non-physical. Thus, this week RC will be non-physical and IC will be physical. We have pictures of Boran seemingly celebrating at what might be the ball-rolling site, thus Boran wins. 2) Now that Boran has lost two in a row, look for MB to introduce a challenge (a la S2 Maze) to try to even things back up. Samburu's larger tribe will somehow be a liability in the challenge, not an asset. 3) Preview focusses on Lindsey's illness, so this will clearly be a focal point of this episode... 4) Last week focussed on Samburu's alliances... MB wouldn't have introduced the concept *too early* before they come into play. Look for these alliances to make a difference in tonight's episode... at the vote. 5) Gut feeling... can't explain it. Brandon booted:
The old folks alliance is strong, and has Silas in tow... for now... but watch for it to crumble when everyone gets tired of Frank, while Carl starts to get to know Little Bit. Little Bit is safe, cause she isn't known as Little Bit yet. Lindsey is safe, cause she's this week's decoy bootee (due to her "injury", which I predict to be short-lived and not worth the hype given to it). That leaves Brandon... bye!
You never know what might be up my sleeeve...

Ok, I really have no idea...But I think the previews point to Lindsey (decoy) to make us think that Boran finally wins an IC..but NO..next weeks preview says 2 Boran are worried about being voted out, not 3, so Boran loses one of the worried this week.

I'm tired of tying myself in knots trying to make sense of so little information. Unless the wimmenz get wise and vote for Clarence, I believe MamaKim is gone. Yes, it appears that the Morons are winning that IC, but that's probably typical MB misdirection.I DO believe chapstick boy is the one who dares to cook for his friends (what--did NONE of these guys bother watching last season?!!!)--no way it could happen again with the Morons, right?--so Brandon will be the first to go when his tribe is finally up for TC. And I think the first big "twist" is going to be having to deal with uneven numbers between the tribes--but I'll be damned if I can figure out for sure which theory is going to prove correct on that one. . . I'm afraid that after that whole LC fiasco, I'm a sucker for each and every story that involves LOGIC, which we've been sorely deprived of. . . GT (Oooh, lookie! DK isn't satisfied with her "Goddess of Words" gig--she's looking to conquer the world! Go, kitty, go!)

77. "Kim Of Boran (aka Kim J., aka MamaKim, aka Old Kim)" |
LAST EDITED ON 10-25-01 AT 03:59 PM (EST)>SherpaDave.....and SurvivorBlows! What -- what did I do wrong, I just checked, my reply was perfect. Ok, what can I say -- this week is very difficult (again -- come on Burnett, throw the viewers some bones before they desert you.) We all know what happens this week -- Boran gets visited by lions, Brandon cooks some food for the Mallrats while the Older Folks Alliance (OFA to you and me) goes for water. Silas continues to struggle with whether he should join the Mallrats or the OFA. Lindsey starts feeling severe pain due to dehydration. The tribes roll around some big-ass paper-mache-like "dung balls," and then later (in the scariest Survivor scene since the Dique's birthday episode) Boran strips damn near naked and we get another great look at Tom (parent's please put the kiddies to bed early.) Anyways, if Samburu loses I have little doubt that Brandon goes. The question is whether Samburu loses. In my opinion, the vidcap evidence this week is highly inconclusive. Because of that, I've decided to put greater stock in the Ep4 and Ep5 TV listing descriptions that we do have access to: Episode 4: "A member of the Samburu tribe cracks under pressure as the generation gap continues to split loyalties among the young and old. Meanwhile 2 members of Boran tribe who are especially nervous about being the next to be voted out of the tribe make separate attempts to stay in the game. A trip to the watering hole becomes a dangerous stand-off with an animal known to be one of the deadliest in the area." Episode 5: "You've seen the show And think you know the game But this being Survivor Things aren't always the same So tune in to see Who's the one they dismiss This is definitely the episode You don't want to miss" Looking at Ep4's description, I find it EXTREMELY interesting. First off, the description says BORAN is the tribe of the "two nervous survivors." We know Lex, Ethan, and Tom are all in an alliance and therefore have little reason to likely worry during the next several days (unless Clarence, Kim, and Kelly were to team up at an Ep3 TC and vote one of Lex, Tom, or Ethan off, in which case the remaining two would certainly be nervous.) We KNOW Clarence, Kelly, and Kim already were nervous in the days leading up to the LAST COUNCIL and there is no reason to believe they would be less nervous this time. Therefore the following question emerges -- why would ONLY TWO Boran's be nervous in Ep4? If Boran didn't go to council in Ep3, then no matter which way you look at it, THREE Boran's should be nervous in Ep 4 -- either Tom, Lex, and Ethan are worried about the case of Clarence defecting to Kim and Kelly (although the men shouldn't worry too much since Clarence would likely lose a tiebreaker) or Clarence, Kim, or Kelly all continuing to worry about the next vote (just as they have been starting since Ep 2.) The only way I can see ONLY TWO Boran's not being nervous is if one of Clarence, Kim, or Kelly is GONE by Ep 4. Yes, I understand the agrument that all six might still be there and Clarence is just arrogantly convinced that he'll remain, but I'm not buying it. Let's look at another of the above words: "separate attempts." If Kim and Kelly were both still in the Boran tribe (along with Clarence) at the time of Ep 4, I believe they would *NOT* be making separate attempts -- I think they would be JOINTLY trying to convince Ethan/Tom/Lex to vote out Clarence at the next vote. The only way I see only two Boran's being nervous and those two Boran's making separate attempts is if they are Kelly and Clarence (meaning a Kim boot in Ep 3,) Kim and Clarence (meaning a Kelly boot in Ep 3,) or Kim and Kelly (meaning a Clarence boot in Ep 3.) The bottom line is that based on the Ep 4 description, I can't foresee a logical situation in which that description would be valid and Boran could still have SIX tribe members. Granted, the description could be a complete red herring, but you have to choose to believe something, and I'm going to choose to believe that the description is valid. Therefore, the list comes down to Clarence, Kim, or Kelly going in Episode #3. At this point and time I am still a believer that the men are going to desperately keep Clarence around for another vote (unless of course the lack of protein causes his body to begin to completely crumble,) hoping against hope that his strength will help them finally win a IC challenge. As such, either Kelly or MamaKim's head will be on the block -- and due to her perceived lack of strength, as well as what I see as Kelly's friendliness with other other Borans -- MAMAKIM will be sent packing. (yes, that's right folks, there is DISSENSION in the Blue Man Group -- with AyaK yet to way in, we're already split 2/1!) For our alternate pick this week, I'm going to operate under the assumption that all the above is COMPLETELY WRONG and therefore pick BRANDON as our alternate selection As far as the Reward Challenge, I agree with IceCat and others that this will be a subjective challenge and that Boran will win. Maybe the reward is some livestock and that's what brings the lions close to camp (and if so, maybe it forces them to eat it all quickly and therefore be VERY STRONG for the Ep4 challenge, but I'm getting ahead of myself... ) Anyways, that's it for this week -- to recap: RC Winner: Boran IC Winner: Samburu Bootee Pick: MamaKim Alternate Bootee Pick: Brandon

OK, let me start off with a qualifier -- I really haven't been paying attention this week. But I can't sit this one out.I still believe the "Boran wipeout" theory, for the same reason Webby cites: the teaser for E4 says only 2 members of Boran are extremely concerned about their status. If Boran won IC, three members would be concerned: MamaKim, Kelly and C.B. Therefore, I think they lose the IC (after winning the RC, too!). So who do they boot? Well, they can either boot the weakest (MamaKim), the most useless (Kelly), or the outcast (Clarence). They've kept Clarence around because they learned the Kel lesson. But now they see their third straight IC loss. And this is a mental IC, at which Clarence may well be useless. Anyway, it comes down to this: Boran has tied the record losing streak with Clarence around. They haven't won an IC yet. They can't do any worse without him. MamaKim can keep cooking for another week. Next week: a fourth Boran goes, and MB searches for a contingency plan to save the show, which he'll pull out in Week 5: an early merger, due to the hazards of a four-person tribe needing to maintain two sentries. Oh, last point -- I believe that if, by some miracle, Boran were to WIN the IC, Samburu would boot the Linzmeister first. But she's been all over MB's promos while cramping this week. So... I have to believe Samburu doesn't get the boot. Tensions are going to get hot inside Samburu. That may not be what happens. But it was a lot of fun making it up!

I know the Bandwagon lost last week, but it's what makes sense to me. I'm swayed by the future TV guide listings too.Hate to go against AyaK (sign #1 I'm likely to be wrong) but: BeMorons lose, Mamakim is not that useful. Surely one of the others can cook. We haven't seen the usual focus on cooking this time, so it may not be as important this time. Maybe people have fewer arguments about maize, lower expectations than with rice. I think the 3 guys believe Clarence's strength makes him useful--still. They have been losing by such a small margin that they likely think the weakest player continues to drag them down. Gonna go out on a limb and say Samburu wins the boulder RC, and that Jiffy is talking to the Samburus about water delivery afterwards while the BeMorons wander dejectedly. So maybe Lindsey crashes before the water's delivered and then revives. I think she gets hospitalized later and most likely immediately after her boot or removal from the game--not now. I don't think Brandon has had enough face time. I can tell MB likes his character from the interviews and if he's gone this early I would have expected a little more footage of him. Like we got a lot of Varner early on because he was entertaining and left mid-game. Alternate pick: Brandon Don't think it won't happen just because it hasn't happened yet--Jackson Browne

I think I'll agree that Boran wins the RC, but I'm going against the tide on the IC. While we see Boran members getting run over by the ball, let's look at last week's "stair master" challenge. The previews showed a pole slipping during the process. I remember someone here saying "if it slipped 19 times, and the other one slipped 20, what difference does one slip make?" Sure enough, both teams showed at least one "pole slipping". Anyway, I think the "rollover" shots are head fakes, along with the DK story about Kelly's interview material. Just don't see it happening that way. So Boran wins both this week, Samburu goes to vote. Haven't decided how exactly it'll work, but the older members will win, and get rid of that annoying little twit Brandon...
