"Extreme Makeover Home Edition 1/22"
Did anyone see tonight's show about the Hebert family? It was in Sandpoint, Idaho, which is a hop, skip and a jump from Spokane, where I live. They built the house in November. Our local ABC affiliate did a "behind the scenes" special right before the show aired. Pretty interesting to get more of what goes on to make the show. They had to build a road up to the property in order to get everything to the house site. And I guess the contractors had to talk the producers into still doing the house, basically because of accesibility issues. Anyway, it was a great show. I did not get the opportunity to go to the site, but it's neat to have it happen nearby.

Hey Cyndi, that's cool. Can you just drive by, or what? There is a house that was done last year up in Hood River, I think. I liked that particular show. Don't like all of em, but most are pretty good.

Well, my brother and his wife were going to drive up there but I guess it's pretty crowded and they couldn't get too close. Plus it was up in the hills by itself so it wasn't really easy access to begin with. Guess they have a volunteers booth set up where you can go. Our local tv station said that they had a guest book you could sign even if you couldn't help but really wanted to. I don't think they really let onlookers too close, though.

I agree that the show is pretty cool. Wish I could say I had more of a connection with this house being built but the most I can say is I live "kinda" nearby. Oh well! Maybe someday they'll do a house actually in Spokane and I'll get to be involved. (that would be cool)

I saw parts of that episode. I think it's great that the family got a new home and all but I think the show goes overboard. Does a guy with 2 kids (3 people) need a 6,000 square foot home? I say no. It's too much. Yes, it is very nice but c'mon, too much is too much in my book. A 3,000 square foot home would have been more than enough room for the three of them.

I guess that doesn't make for good TV though.

I would agree that the size of the home is much more then the family needs, but I also agree that a spectacular home makes for good tv. And hey, if someone offered to build me a huge home I wouldn't turn it down! (and the $50,000 for upkeep doesn't hurt either!)
