These numbers are really meaningless. Couple of things:First, there is no way to verify that these are REAL numbers. Its idolsforum.com. Do i need to say anythign else? Secondly, even if by chance they were accurate, text messaging - or so i've heard - accounts for a very small percentage of the total votes. Phone votes are what matter. geekboy

<Exit polls suggest Kerry will be re-elected in 2008! {Snicker} I've never put much faith in polls. Depends too much on what questions are asked and how they are phrased. And the source for this - the AI forums - psssshhhh - need I say more? Carrie may win, but I strongly doubt anyone other than the few actually responsible at the agency doing the counting knows a thing. 
Everyone is entitled to my opinion.

Who uses text messaging? Predominantly people under the age of 25 and in this case, they also had to be Cingular customers who had text messaging. What share does Cingular have of the cell phone market? 20%? I occasionally use text but only a few friends do and I am not a Cingular customer.There are hundreds of thousands of people who called instead of texting -- if not, I would have been able to get through more than 10 times in the first hour and a half or so! The ?? I have about texting it how many were sent by each person--if you have unlimited text messaging, how many votes do you send? And what if you have to pay per message? How many do you send then? Someone in the voting/ call status thread said they had gotten through 50 times to vote and thought that was a good number. I wonder what the threshold is for texters.

I did text messaging for the first time this season.Early on, each week i'd send one vote for Bo and one for Nadia (until she was cut prematurely), then up until last night i'd text vote for Bo once or twice. Last night i believe i sent between 10-20 text votes for Bo because i thought he needed them... Its very easy to text vote quickly. I think i pay $0.10 per message if i send over 10 a month? Something like that, its all based on whatever plan you have. geekboy

CARRIE -49.7 %Though I prefer these numbers, I won't believe anything until Seacrest tells us tonight. Then, depending on whether Bo won or not, I'll either think the numbers are dead on accurate or part of a HUGE conspiracy. HA! The "they're all a bunch of manipulators and cheats" hashed and rehashed theories are gonna be entertaining.  In fact, I'll go on record now - AI obviously manipulated the numbers, and I have PROOF. My best friend's cousin's girlfriend works on the set, and SHE says..........(fill in the blank, depending on whom you were rooting for.)
Everyone is entitled to my opinion.

Phone totals as well as text totals were posted on the forum linked all season long. They were pretty darn accurate each week. The totals were always broken down by time zone, so, they couldn't be averaged due to population differences.
