I can't stand Scott personally. I hate when I see a person trying to be black when they're white. Talks black, and picks all songs done by black artist. Most of us who see him are sick of the poser and can't believe he's made it this far.

Scott has a person who lays out what he wears? I think I can hear Larry with a shotgun going to kill that guy.Anyway, I liked it. The fast parts screwed Scott up, but I thought the base of the song was solid if a little flat. And I liked his attitude. I don't think he quite got into the cocky range, and when he said the "next week" comment, you could see him laughing (!) afterwards with Ryan, so it was a bit of a joke (rarity). And in all honesty, if he goes home this week over Anthony, I'd be a bit...disappointed, since for once, he was clearly not the worst remaining singer in a given week. A generous Icecat donation

Damn, I'll join the swooning hoards on the overly full bandwagon. My favorite performance tonight by far. The song is pretty old for something that is #2 on some chart (I heard it summer '04), but it was a perfect fit.I think Anthony should go home, of course, I thought that when they were down to the Top 20, so what do I know? I think bottom three is the predictable bottom three: Vonzell, Scott, and Anthony, and Scott's in danger because he performed well. He won't gain many new voters for it (people are stuck in their biases, so even if he was great (which I have reservations about saying), getting new voters is tough. All three are vulnerable. 1. Bo (Correct, no one is even close to Bo at this point. He may not have the best voice, but he is by far the best performer, which is really what matters) 2. Scott (Really not much of a choice between the four below Bo, but Scott's the only one of the four who did two songs I care for or didin't butcher his songs) 3. Vonzell (The hype from the first two judges was unwarranted and I think she's in danger for lackluster performances. What she did wasn't the worst...but they are the type of performances that can't save a contestant from being ousted due to large opposing fanbases or lucky contestants) 4. Carrie (Her first song was uninspired and her second song was amazing...ly boring. I couldn't care less for her performances and if not for her appealing to her fanbase, as you should do, she'd be in danger) 5. Anthony (He did the Backstreet Boys...(heh, Meatwad flashback) and that was the better song. He wasn't that bad, but he...well...wasn't Top 4 quality. I honestly enjoyed Judd's performance from the first episode where he was booted more than his first job. Congrats).Bottom 3 (projected): Vonzell, Anthony, Scott Home: Scott (his good performance will cause a ceasing in votes due to confidence, and he'll be ousted when he was not the worst performer because of his previous record or lack there of. Think Chris from The Apprentice). A generous Icecat donation

Individual performances:1. Bo - #2. Not my favorite Los Lonely Boys song, but he did a fantastic job with the song. 2. Bo - #1. Good choice! I thought Scott would've picked this song, but it worked well on Bo. 3. Scott - #1. When I heard he was singing Broadway, I was worried...but it was good. See...Scott can sing people. 4. Vonzell - #1. Loved her working the stage/song. She does tend to have pitch problems still, but she is usually the ONLY one who looks completely at ease and normal on stage (some of Bo's antics seem a bit forced even though I still like him) 5. Carrie - #1. Off-pitch quite a bit tonight and again, looked and sounded as if she was just singing random words that meant nothing to her, but there were definitely parts I enjoyed (haven't been able to say that about a Carrie performance for a while now). She really needs to learn how to convey something when she sings (other than boredom)... 6. Scott - #2. Didn't like the song selection (one-note chorus = not the best choice), but with most of what's on the top 40 charts today, he really didn't have much choice in the matter unless he wanted to go out of his genre. Brian McKnight is a pretty risky artist since he's got a phenomenal voice and you'll almost always sound like carp singing his songs no matter how talented you are. 7. Vonzell - #2. Not as bad as Simon alluded to, but not as good as Randy/Paula thought. Still, I like her and the way she actually pays attention to what she's singing each week. 8. Anthony - #2. Well, he sure was back to his old ways tonight...NOT a good night for Mr. Federov. He needs to sing either mellow pop music or big 'bravado' type ballads. He missed the mark tonight. 9. Carrie - #2. Ew. Icky song, icky performance, really icky wardrobe. 10. Anthony - #1. My word that was hideous. He'd been impressing me (a little anyway) over the past 2 weeks, but that performance just about erased every positive thought I'd had about him in the past. Ouch. Overall: Bo Scott Vonzell Carrie Anthony Anthony should DEFINITELY go home based upon last night's performances. Got blog?

Long post because puter isn't in the same room with tv, so I had to take notes. Gah!First, let me say that this was a hard night to judge because I've not heard any of the second songs they sang. I AM OLD! I don't listen to current Billboard of any genre! And they didn't say the name of the song before they sang, just mentioned it afterward, so I didn't catch any of the names of those songs. Anthony - Poison Ivy - definitely poisenous! Bad Karoake. Second song - I thought he did much better. I didn't like how he sang the word "incomplete" the first time though...he waivered on that note. The second and last time he sang it was very nice. Overall....pretty sucky. Poor guy - I like him, but he did sound like an amateur! Scott - On Broadway - DEAD ON! I was happily surprised. good tone, nice high notes and his voice just sounded so rich. He was also very good with the nuances of the song...singing loudly when it was called for and singing softly as well. Very nice. Second song: nice tones, but a few fell flat. I wasn't sure the beat was supposed to be synconated until Randy confirmed it. I didn't like his "cockiness" about not going home. Confidence is one thing, but he's been a "back-talker" since a few weeks ago and I find it annoying. Overall though, this was his best night in the competition. (As much as I do think he should have gone home last week and the week before) Vonzell - Treat Me Nice. I heard some pitch probs, but she was having so much fun with it and she's so adorable...had a great ending! Second song: I was distracted by her hair silouette sticking so far out under the lights. I thought she was weak at the start, but she had a very nice long note in the middle. Her first song was definitely better than the second. Bo - Stand by Me. Amazing, fabulous.....he had me from the first note. He IS a star and will be, regardless of how he does in this competition. Second song: I LOVED the coat! And his voice....his "oh yeah" was perfect and fitting. I'm not sure what Randy meant by "Captain of the Dog Pound" though. But I totally agreed when Simon said he made others look like amateurs. He rocked the house! Carrie - Loved the gutteral, Wynona Judd "grrrr" at the start of the phrases. Great song choice and I thought she did well. Second song: Nice vocals, very beautiful key progression. I agree with Simon though, that her performance was "robotic" So, those are my crib notes. I thought Bo was the stand out with Scott chasing close behind. Vonzell/Carrie...toss up. I feel poor Anthony did the worst tonight and I was sad, because I really do like his voice. Mandy Out MM I'm convinced this country is another planet’s hell

94. "RE: American Idol Final 5 Show East Coast Thread " |
1. Bo - While his two performances were my favorite, I don't like his tendency to be flat while holding a note at the end of a song. He does it on a consistent basis, and did it in both of his songs tonight. It takes away from the positive effect of everything he does before it. But like Randy and Simon have implied, Bo is comfortable with who he is and he exudes the same attitude and identity in every performance. He's not trying to put on an act, he's putting himself into the performance.2 (tie). Vonzell - I love the personality she shows on stage, and her vocals were not bad at all. Great attitude up there. When Simon was commenting on her vulnerability with that smirk on his face, I couldn't help but think he was trying to fuel a spark in her voting base to keep her in the competition and get rid of someone else (*coughAnthonyorScottcough*). 2 (tie). Scott - Couldn't help but be impressed by his first performance, but he was oh so flat in the second one. Hopefully that will be the one that sticks with voters. I just feel like he's trying to be someone that he's not with all of his hip hop shtick and that's one of the many things about him that turns my stomach and takes away from anything positive that he does vocally. And what some call confidence I call arrogance. He has shown no gratitude or humility during this competition. You can be confident without acting like the world owes you everything just for being you, but this guy hasn't figured that out. 4. Carrie - I enjoyed her first performance...except when I was looking at her. She's the Carrie-bot, with above-average vocals but no ability to put herself into a performance. Extreme opposite of the spectrum from Bo in that regard. 5. Anthony - Needed to hit two home runs tonight, and barely hit a single between the two performances. His personality is the only reason I'd like to see him stay in this. If Carrie is the Anti-Bo, Anthony is the Anti-Scott, and that's enough to make me want to see him stick around.
