As entertainment critic Roger
Ebert once said, "If you disagree with something I write, tell me so, argue
with me, correct me--but don't tell me to shut up. That's not the American way."
While Shelly's current bet might be to ride that situation down to F5, pick a final pair to align with -- arguably Brendon/Rachel for the jury loathe factor -- and then pray to win the last HoH. Which under that scenario, turns into her only chance: each person in a pair will take each other before they take anyone else. (The potential exception would be Jeff realizing the jury might refuse to give Jordan two wins in a row, but don't hold your breath on his working that one out -- much less executing it. 'I refuse to beat the woman I love!' -- and there's your ultra-longshot loss.) Looked at that way, she shouldn't be too fond of her long-term odds. But her chances might not be that much better with the newbies, at least as far as maintaining any kind of power base...
The issue with boomerang control, as always, remains the HoH format. This game does not grant the majority alliance automatic control. Someone in the minority group still has the chance to win the power position and put up two from the other side. And if they're not Kalia, they might even make it stick and get rid of one. She was intimidated by fear of retaliation -- but let things stand in that form and she's going anyway. Eventually, someone in the newbie group has to win and take a stand -- or Danielle has to begin every-other-weeking from now until twists do her part.
The boomerangs have improved their odds with Brendon's return: no argument there. But they don't have a lock yet.
