"American Idol - The Second Eight" |
Having a much better week this week if you ask me....just ready to give a few critiques of my own on the choices this week.....the competition has just stepped up!Clay Aiken - Wonderful. I don't know how to describe his voice....his look is unique, which is what they are looking for.....I look for him to move on, whether it be America or the judge pick. I really enjoyed his performance, and I am not usually a fan of that type of voice and music. Candace Coleman - Her voice was a bit too smoky for me....she really didn't even pronounce all of the words in the song right, if I didn't already know the words to the song I would be questioning what the heck she was singing. I liked her, though...she is very cute, and although she is very entertaining and fun to watch, I think she definately chose the wrong song and will probably have to really blow away the judges during the wild card show if she wants to move on....I doubt she moves on, though. Rebecca Bond - I did not enjoy her performance at all....the voice is a bit too cabaret, a bit too much like voices we've already heard before....wasn't really into her personality, either. She is almost the same as Meosha for me....(to steal a quote from Simon)....she came in a loser, and ended up having a "So What?" performance.... Jacob John Smalley - Nothing stood out for me.....he did alright, the performance was okay...he may get through to the next round on cuteness alone, but he is a lot like Charles in the song genre, and I think we have too many different unique people in the show to have two from the same genre.....I have my doubts that he makes it through. Hadas - I hate the name change....it is very stupid and wasn't necessary. I wasn't overly impressed, but she did a good job. She may make it through, but I have a lot of doubts...she isn't very unique. Ruben Studdard - I thought he did a superb job.....he's the man....definately through, most likely with the fan vote.....my favorite contestant on the entire show so far...go Ruben! And I love his brother Kevin too...sporting the Kabeer jersey and throwback style hat....GO PACK! Kimberley Locke - Great! She also belongs in the top ten, but she got stuck in a tough group to win in....this may be the toughest group to be in....I love her voice....she belongs, although the public might not like her as much...but she was great....I think she goes through due to the Simon comment. Jennifer Fuentes - Looks great....not a bad job singing, but the competition is tough, and I don't think she will quite make the cut...I like her though....but she didn't do an outstanding job. Top Three - Kimberley, Ruben, Clay Top Two (My Prediction After Watching Tonight) - Kimberley, Ruben My Prediction Before Watching Tonight - Ruben, Clay Possible Wildcards (If They Don't Make It By Fans) - Clay, Kimberley, Ruben, Jacob John. The Way I Rank Them - 1.Ruben 2.Kimberley 3.Clay 4.JacobJohn 5.Hadas 6.Candace 7.Jennifer 8.Rebecca Survior 5 Anti-Bootee Champion

There should be a clause in the American Idol contract that no one, under any circumstances, will be allowed to sing Janis Joplin. It didn't work for poor Nikki McKibbin last year and it didn't really shine on Candace, either. But Ruben was awesome and I'm rooting for Jacob John ( a lost cause, yes Edmond is 20 minutes away from where I live ! )

My take on things:1) Ruben - I was hoping he'd do well so that Mr. Bebo could hear that lovely lovely voice. He didn't disappoint. I was scared when I heard he was singing a Carpenters song, but as soon as I realized which one he was singing, I knew it was an awesome choice for him. 2) Kimberly - My only complaint? She should have picked a different song. Yes, she sings it well, but she needs to show the public she can sing something else well. May get the second spot just for saying, "Simon, you suck." 3) Clay - He did Raleigh proud! Love that voice. 4) Hadas - Did better than I expected her too, since I'm not that big a fan of that song. Mr. Bebo thought she did well with the song, and it's hard to get a compliment from him. The one name is being done so often that it seems wayyyyy too affected. 5) Rebecca - Went flat on all of the high notes, but had a nice sultriness to her voice. Mr. Bebo and I made a long list of songs that we would have liked to have heard her try which would have showcased her voice better. 6) Jacob John - His performance was...nice. He looked...nice. I'm not saying it was bad, I'm just saying that nothing about it jumped out and said, "Cheer for this guy" for me. 7) Candace - Questioned the outfit choice, and really questioned the song choice. She was shouting more of it than singing it. A disappointment, after a much stronger performance in the audition round. And use some consonants, girl. 8) Jennifer - Wrong, wrong, wrong, song. I winced at the "ooo, dance" part. I really wish I could have heard her sing whatever other song she was debating about singing. She had a nice look, but she did not showcase her talent well. Ruben, Clay, and Kimberly were my top three going into tonight, and I don't see any reason to change that. Hadas might sneak in, but I doubt it. Royalty, shmoyalty...EVIL rules!

5. "Tough group !!!!!" |
LAST EDITED ON 02-12-03 AT 01:01 AM (EST)What difference a week makes, this group was tough. Here's MY opinion: *Clay Aiken. FABULOUS voice, he reminds of Josh Groban, another geeky looking guy, with a FABULOUS voice, who ended up selling over 2 million copies of his debut cd. Love this guy, just love this guy. I would buy his album. *Candice Coleman. She looked like she was singing kareoke. I don't dislike her voice or her, she just had NOOOOO personality tonight. Boring. *Rebecca Bond. Love her voice, she's very pretty. Liked her, but she was overshadowed by others. *Jacob John. Dull, thin voice, no personality. BORING. Worst of the night. *Hadas. Nice, nothing special. Ridiculous name. *Ruben Studdard. What a voice by this guy. Not a big fan of Luther Vandross, but no doubt Ruben has an incredible voice. Not sure I would buy his album. *Kimberley Locke. I wish she would sing something different, would love to hear her PERFORM something different. That said, she was AMAZING. She's beautiful, she has A LOT of personality (Simon is waaay wrong here) and has a PHENOMENAL voice. Love her. *Jennifer Fuentes. She has a pretty voice, but nothing special. MY votes: Clay, Kimberley and Ruben, with Clay and Kimberley moving on. MY predictions: These three are the top three, with Ruben and Kimberley advancing by popular vote. Clay will return for the wildcard. I hope Clay does make it though. Much better week, no doubt about it. Any of these three would have been better than the two that won last week. ONE MORE THING: Frechie is missing from the A.I. web page. Where is she? Has she been disqualified or something? (c) 2002, 03 GeorgiaBelle Creations, Inc. All rights reserved

WOW, much better night tonight in general...1. CLAY!!! - this is my boy. I voted for him like 50 times. And he's probably the only one (except maybe Frenchie) that I'll vote for (unless he doesn't make it). He's freaking adorable, and I LOVE his voice. And I think he's gay....whether or not he is, he's still DAMN cute. 2. Kimberley L. - AWESOME performance. Didn't vote for her just because I didn't think she'd need it as much. Loved the attitude with Simon (though it did feel a bit forced) 3. Hadas - she looks sooo much like Sandra Bullock..hot, sang well, she had the look, and seemed to have a pretty cool personality. 4. Ruben - I really didn't think he was all that the judges did...when Randy stood up, I was like, it's just cause he looks like you, and was surprised when the other judges were just as favorable....he was good vocally, but talk about not looking, or dressing, like a pop star 5. Rebecca - I don't really have clear preferences on the bottom four...none of them were awful, none of them were superb...she was a little scary with the faces she was making singing....just okay. 6. Jacob John - he was cute, he sang okay, but overall pretty bland 7. Jennifer - looks WAY too much like Julia DeMato (and not as cute) she even went in the same spot as her and sang an upbeat song....bad song choice, and has the misfortune of going the night after diva Julia 8. Candace - and I had such high hopes...she wasn't awful, but I didn't like the scratchy tone of her voice...kind of blah performance. I sincerely hope Clay, Kimberley, and Ruben are the top three. I figure which ever one doesn't go on will probably get a wild card spot (hopefully Ruben, b/c I want my Clay safe and secure in the final 10)

>Having a much better week this >week if you ask me....just >ready to give a few >critiques of my own on >the choices this week.....the competition >has just stepped up! Absolutely a better week overall. I still have to agree with Simon though, they still need to step up their game this year. Clay Weasley did a wonderful job. The whole Jim Nabors thing he's got going amuses the crap out of me. The voice is amazing though, and even if he doesn't win *this* competition, he will have a career in the business. Candace didn't impress me really. She's cute and all, she reminds me of Natalie on SportsNight, but she just didn't quite have it. Rebecca really didn't impress me at all. She ran way too many words together and didn't enunciate enough at all. A bit too cocky for my tastes too. Jacob John (Smalley) reminded me pretty much of the entire male quotient of the Top 10 last year. All boy band and no substance. There are too many truly outstanding male vocalists this year for a boy band wannabe to get through. Hadas... again with the last name dropping! Jebus, what is with these people? She was ok, but nothing great. She does kinda look like Sandra Bullock with a bigger nose though, doesn't she. Ruben reminds me of an old school gospel singer, and that's a good thing. I didn't like the jersey & jeans look, though. I guess I'm kind of old fashioned like that, it was too casual for a big time competition like this. But hey, he'll make it through, no question about it. Kimberley did wonderful, although I hope she's not subscribing to Justin's "Keep Singing the Same Song Whenever Possible" theory. I'd love to hear her do something else, and I'm sure we'll get the chance. Jennifer had the horrible luck of going after 2 phenomenal voices, and she wasn't able to even come close. Nothing outstandingly horrible or anything, but no great shakes. Clay, Kimberley and Ruben will make it to the top ten. The question is, who will get the fan vote and who will get the wild card vote. My picks? Clay and Kimberley get the fan vote, Ruben gets the wild card. Is our children learning?

12. "RE: American Idol - The Second Eight" |
Oh, these performances were so much better than last week. Clay Aiken - I still can't believe that voice comes from that body. It's like the first time I saw Rick Astley. He did Raleigh proud last night. I would really like to see him move on (either through the vote or by the judges).
By the way, he was on one of the local radio shows earlier this week, and was asked about going to Broadway, and he said (paraphrasing), "I pretty much have to go into singing because I can't act and can't dance to save my life." Funny guy with a lot of singing talent. Candace Coleman - I don't think she chose a very good song, plus she didn't sing it very well. When she started singing, I was thinking, "Why is she singing this song?" Rebecca - Next... Jacob John Smalley - He's got the look, but if I close my eyes and listen to him sing, I will have forgotten about him as soon as the song is over. Hadas - What's up with the one-word names? I was pretty bored with her performance. It really wasn't worthy of a one-name performer. Ruben Studdard - This is the guy I was looking forward to hearing (aside from the hometown favorite). He did not disappoint. I hope he changes his wardrobe, but the voice is just great. I really hope he moves on (not much doubt in my mind). Kimberley Locke - Loved the voice, but shouldn't there be a rule about singing the same song over and over? She should be in the top three, and I think she will move on (either by vote or by judges' choice). I am looking forward to hearing her sing a different song. Jennifer Fuentes - It's wednesday morning, and I've already forgotten her. Enough said. My top three: 1) Reuben, 2) Clay, 3) Kimberly
Favorite moment: Watching Reuben and his brother crush Ryan on the sofa. If you don't have time to do it right the first time, when are you going to find time to do it again? - Anonymous

It was a much better week!Clay - good voice...nice tones....should be in the top three for the night. Candace - bad song choice for her and for god sakes loosen up a bit...she looked like a robot! Rebecca - couldn't even understand the bridge of the song because she ran all the words together! John Jacob jingle heimer schmidt(or whatever his name is today)- first I am really tired of these damn name changes...He was John Jacob Smalley last week in the promos...now he is Jacob John...please! Then to top it off you can't sing your way into an nsync karaoke contest....Bah Bye! Hadas - again with the name game...banana fanana fo fanana...not a bad performance...but not great either Ruben - incredible talent and voice....but didn't like the jersey and jeans look...he'll make the top 10 and I hope he polished his image then. Kimberly - WOW...she can really sing THAT song....BUT can she sing anything else???? She did a great job and then duked it out with Simon...should be enough for her to move on Jennifer - sucked so bad I went to pee! you can't do that song with just a piano...please!!! Thanks for playing,,,here's a nice copy of our home game! Top three - Clay, Ruben & Kimberly Fan votes - Ruben & Kimberly but Clay should make it via wild card show "It's only cheating if you get caught".....Al Bundy

LOL. Yeah, she was like, "I used to think you were sexy, but now, you just suck." OMG! My neices could get in a better insult (and they call people "truck-heads", whatever that is.)But, the funniest part was, she was so proud of herself for "telling him" cause her 'mad logic skillz' and legal background make her such a steller slammer, but really, it was just sad. Simon definitely won that round. He said one little line to get her all riled up and sure enough, it worked like a charm. So predictable. So these are the top two for this group. Clay was robbed, if he would have been is last weeks group and most likely next weeks, he would be in the finals.I have to say something about Ruben. I had tried to keep quiet about it, but I can't. Those "outfits" of his have got to GO !!!!! I looked horrible on Charles Grisby last week, and even WORSE on Ruben. They look infantile, dumpy and trashy. I understand he is a big man, but even big men can dress like a man, not a little boy going to kindergarden. Unfortunately I don't think he will change them. Now that Frenchie's gone, I so hope that Clay makes in, he will most likely be in the wildcard show. Hopefully the judges or the audience will put him in the finals. Clay has got to get back in it! I have to say that Kimberly really doesn't move me much. Yes she can sing, but she needs to show more of what she can do. I am glad she will get another chance to perform, I think she earned it, but she is boring me.On the Bug O Meter, no one has made me cry yet. I want to be moved to tears by their performances.
