Please tell me I heard that wrong.

Their dad was killed at Daytona, not Talladega, but he was still getting joy at their expense, IMHO.

And Stassi...what the heck did the Weavers do to you?

The whole attitude from the Schroeders towards the Weavers was disgusting. That would be like people cheering that they (the Schroeders) lost everything in the hurricane.

I will say this...getting eliminated in your own home town? Karma's a b!tch, isn't it?

The Weavers may be annoying at times, and their wacko performance at the bus stop was disturbing, but I don't know what they ever did to earn that much enmity from anyone. They're even Christian enough to include the safety of the other teams in their prayers.

I believe they said it was a different race track, not Taladega where they were.

They were emotional at first and didn't want to do it, but seemed to get through it and seem to think they are stronger for facing it.

I thought he was killed in a Goody's Dash series (can't remember the new name of the series) race, not the actual NASCAR event.

Also, even though Talladega is not where he was killed, the tracks are very similar in style and structure.

I'd like to see more space in between the departure times, but I do like the staggered bunching zones better than complete bunches. At least the front-running teams are awarded some type of advantage for being ahead of the other competitors.

The Paolo family, despite arriving last, will end up with a 7:40 departure time because three teams in front of them took a 8:00 a.m. departure time. Nuts . . .

And what's up with the Schroder daughter? Looks like she's having an absolute and complete meltdown.

is absolutely stupid. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't your best bet be to consistently stand and wait for the dealer to bust three times? There isn't a limit to how many times you can try, is there? You waste too much time strategizing whether to hit, stand, etc. . . .

Bingo (which probably awaits in Las Vegas). They're all lured in by the 'everyone can beat the dealer' option.

Also, all four hands need to beat the dealer's hand, right? You risk the possibility of busting if you hit and ask for another card, ruining the whole round. From what I've seen on the screen, every winning hand so far has been on a dealer bust. Am I missing something here?

The best thing would be to not take any cards and wait for the dealer to bust... to take any cards is a waste of time because the odds of all 4 hands beating the dealer if he doesn't bust is very low. I would stand with a 7 if that is what I was dealt in this case... just stand pat... not thinking necessary.

It's an absolute waste of time trying to beat the dealer on a non-bust, and you ruin any potential dealer bust if you bust yourself. Stand, stand, stand, stand, stand, people!

Yep all you need is for one of the four hands to be good enough to make the dealer have to keep pulling cards until they bust.

Trying to get 4 individual good hands will take forever.

None of the hands have to be 'good enough'... dealers have specific rules that they must follow. They MUST hit at 16 and MUST stand at 17 or higher... if they stood with ANYTHING and just let the dealer hit, it will bust with no help. Just let the odds work for themselves.

Nope. How good, or bad, your hands are doesn't matter. If the dealer is 16 or below he must hit his hand. If he's 17 or above, he's not allowed to hit. So, stand on whatever you have and hope (or, if you're a Weaver, pray) for a dealer bust.

29. "Hattiesburg"
LAST EDITED ON 10-18-05 AT 10:25 PM (EST)

I can't believe they went to freakin Hattiesburg. That's where Greeneyes lives, and she had no idea they were filming there. Lets just say she's a tad upset that she missed the teams going through...when did they film this edition? Makes me wonder if i was there around the same time they were...<grrrr>

I'm still in complete shock that H'burg was "featured" on the show last night. I was very pleassantly surprised to hear that they came to town; but, they could have done so much more here, such as museums, bike trails, etc. But no, we only get feature for a mobile home sales lot. Whatever!

{big pout} I just can't believe that I missed them. {/pout}

My only excuse is that it is at the complete other end of town, which is more of an industrial and warehouse area, so I don't go out that way very often.

I do wish that they would have given an update on the Schroeders, hopefully they will in a future episode.

I was told that the French Quarter was the high point of New Orleans.

Is this right? Thus the places we just saw are still there unharmed?

I don't think so...as far as I know the Ponchartrain causeway survived the storm...it was the I-10 bridge at the other end of the lake that got most of the storm surge and was heavily damaged.

I actually kinda liked this episode, and maybe I'm starting to warm up to the show. Panama next week should be fun.

I can't be sure, but I seem to remember reading that the Schroeders are staying with the Rogers family (the ones who were eliminated 2nd, they had the son with the "I LOVE TWINS" t-shirt). The Rogers also live in Louisiana but are more out of the way from the disaster areas.

anyone else notice Stassi's neck, why was it so pink? The dad put it best when he said (paraphrased) they had the biggest advantage being from the area and it's "shameful" (his word) that they couldn't find the park.

I also think it's hilarious that the "gag-them" family keeps going on about how they are the team to beat because they are into marathons and such but they keep coming in as the last team not to be eliminated.

Personally, I thought the whole attitude they started the race with was offensive, that the others would think they were dumb Southerners and mistake Southern manners for weakness. I feel for them that their home is in ruins but I wasn't sorry to see them lose the race.

It's cuz the other members of the family are too busy wringing her neck to get her to shut up that they didn't notice they were falling into last place... might even had help wringing her neck from the Weavers as well.

I don't usually post in this thread, but I had to come in and comment about all the teams over TAR's history that have gotten eliminated in their home cities. I'm also thinking of Frank and Margarita (TAR1 Queens) and Wil and Tara (TAR2 - San Francisco) and now the Schroeders! LOL, to one of the Schroeders, (Stassi?), saying it was "unfair" to the other teams that the pistop was in New Orleans!
Do you think they went home afterwards? ;)

Steph_fan-I was thinking about Frank and Margarita as well as soon as the Schroeder family started talking about what an unfair advantage they had over the other teams...as soon as they made that comment I knew they'd be the ones eliminated.
