PLEASE NOTE: The Reality TV World Message Boards are filled with desperate
attention-seekers pretending to be one big happy PG/PG13-rated family. Don't
be fooled. Trying to get everyone to agree with you is like herding cats,
but intolerance for other viewpoints is NOT welcome and respect for other
posters IS required at all times. Jump in and play, and you'll soon find out
how easy it is to fit in, but save your drama for your mama. All members are
encouraged to read the
complete guidelines.
As entertainment critic Roger
Ebert once said, "If you disagree with something I write, tell me so, argue
with me, correct me--but don't tell me to shut up. That's not the American way."

I'm a third of the way through it now. I'm not sure what to think just yet. T.J. isn't helping.

LAST EDITED ON 01-03-05 AT 09:53 PM (EST)The position I'm in -- and it's going to be reflected in the summary, much to the downfall of the writng -- is that I came in looking for the absolute bottom of the barrel, and wound up at the top of the trench, blinking at the sun. I was not expecting the show to have an actual emotional impact. I didn't think TJ was going to come off as sympathetically as she did. And while the game show idea still stinks on ice, and the disco scene was cringeworthy, and we weren't even given that much to go on, period -- -- oh, this hurts -- -- I'm gonna have a hard time bashing the thing all the way through. Feh.

I watched about 30 minutes of it but couldn't watch any more. Did it have a happy ending?

They're all gonna have happy endings, Vols. The producers made it pretty clear that no matter who the daughter picks, she meets her real father at the end. The only question is whether the searcher -- I can't say 'contestant' here -- gets the 100K as well.

So, this is going to be a series? I thought it was a one time event as advertised. I may have to watch. Does it come on next week?

Fox admits to having already filmed at least 6 episodes, I think they were just gunshy about committing to airing any more until they saw what the public reaction and ratings were.

what's so wrong with this show?girl gets teased for a few days, meets her dad, can get $100K. TJ even met her real mom (was that stevie nicks?). Fox did what many spend alot of money doing on their own with no luck.... Not the greatest show...but... my better-half liked it and she NEVER likes reality TV....(scratching head)

Adoption is a topic very dear to my heart. Both of my children were adopted internationally. As for the show, I think it sucks. While adults all understand the idea behind this, the adopted children that might see the show or even catch a commercial don't understand it. No matter the circumstances involving the adoption, the children always wonder about their birth parents. My oldest daughter is 6 (7 on Sunday) and has been stuggling with understanding why she isn't with her birth parents and would love to find them. Fortunatley, I think I was able to keep her from seeing any ads about the show, we are going thru adoption questions enough without having to explain a 'game show' type, win a $100,000 if you guess correctly show.As another thing, adoptive parents are 'real' parents too, please use terms like bio-parents or birth parents. Thanks,

I hated it but being adopted myself I couldnt stop watching I just dont understand why this TJ person had to go on a reality show to find her birth parents and why her dad and not her mom? Will they show us what happens when the honeymoon is over? I doubt it They may feel great right now but I doubt it will last my birth mother is a raging drunk who despises my adoptive parents and blames my adoption on her drinking for 30 years TJ didn't look too happy to meet her sisters I sensed some resentment there I wont watch the rest I have finally reached my "they've gone to far" limit
