PLEASE NOTE: The Reality TV World Message Boards are filled with desperate
attention-seekers pretending to be one big happy PG/PG13-rated family. Don't
be fooled. Trying to get everyone to agree with you is like herding cats,
but intolerance for other viewpoints is NOT welcome and respect for other
posters IS required at all times. Jump in and play, and you'll soon find out
how easy it is to fit in, but save your drama for your mama. All members are

Ebert once said, "If you disagree with something I write, tell me so, argue
with me, correct me--but don't tell me to shut up. That's not the American way."

Okay, is it just me or does everyone want the future episodes of The Bachelor/Bachelorette to help a nice, average person find love. What is up with all of the famous people? Everyone knows that when a celebrity is thrown into the mix, women or men will flock to the show. I mean c'mon! It's a chance to win a marriage or "commited" relationship with a FAMOUS PERSON! Just once, I would like to see good ole average joe or jane in the driver's seat! I bet the relationships would at least last more than 6 months!

who was famous when announced as The Bachelor? Andrew Firestone? His name was famous but none of the women knew he would be the bachelor. Bachelor Bob? Famous only for being rejected by Trista. Trista, Meredith and Jen? Again, famous only for being rejected. It's not like they chose George Clooney as the bachelor.

Okay. Average Joe was a show on NBC. Yes, I know that Trista, Meredith, and Jen were all once rejects, but still they had been on the show before. All I'm saying is pick someone we don't already know, and please don't let them pick a guy like the one that was on Average Joe, b/c he was a freak!

Charlie O'Connell was in "Can't Hardly Wait," but that's besides the point. I see what you're saying, and I know it couldn't happen in the real world, I just wish it could, ya know!?

Actually, I would kinda like to see a show where the women show up and the Bachelor is pretty famous -- ok, maybe not George Clooney famous but famous and single -- and see the dynamic that arises out of that situation. Which woman will be herself and attract the bachelor on her own terms? The catfights for the DAWs to try to trap a famous bachelor. The last episode will include a reading of the prenup during the private overnight stays.

>Okay, is it just me or does everyone want the future episodes of >The Bachelor/Bachelorette to help a nice, average person >find love. I agree in theory, but the show as it's set up currently doesn't facilitate this very well: 1) With only 25 people to choose from (including the tokens and "mischief makers"), the pool is small 2) Nobody really knows each other before the show starts 3) First impressions are all-important - and sometimes it's all you get before you're tossed 4) The dates are hyper-romantic, terribly expensive, and not very realistic 5) The isolation leads to lots of thoughts - even obsession - about the chosen one 6) Relatively few ordinary people can risk taking 6 weeks off without losing their jobs 7) Even with that, 6 weeks is a very short time to choose a mate 8) Then there's the 2 months or more that the new couple is separated, which can kill any new relationship, even the ones with promise I think the show has to be restructured in order to be taken seriously as a matchmaking tool. If the ratings don't improve for the next edition, I'm not sure they'll get the chance.
