okay I got this off of Reality Fan Forum, thanks to Trevor http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,4871.0.htmlReality Show's Winners May Have Been Leaked NEW YORK, NY, March 9 /PRNewswire/ - Sportsbook.com has announced that wagering on reality television series The Amazing Race has been halted due to irregular betting patterns on contestants Uchenna and Joyce . Over a 12-hour period last week, from the evening of Thursday, March 3 through the morning of Friday, March 4, a significant increase in betting on these contestants alerted Sportsbook.com odds makers of a possible leak into the show's outcome. All the bets under suspicion were placed from accounts in California and Massachusetts and were for the maximum allowable wagers. "Sportsbook.com is no longer taking bets on The Amazing Race. In fairness to our customers we will honor all wagers that have already been placed on this event," said Alex Czajkowski, Marketing Director, Sportsbook.com. As the popularity of reality television programs such as The Amazing Race, Survivor and The Apprentice continues to grow, so to does the amount of interest in online wagering for these programs. "We try to offer Sportsbook.com users betting options on every possible event. From time to time we understand, unfortunately, that situations such as this will arise and will have to be dealt with accordingly," said Czajkowski. Sportsbook.com continues to offer odds on Survivor, American Idol, Apprentice 3 and more. Thanks for sharing, wendyp. It seems like most of the betting spoilers I've paid attention to have been on the money, so I'll keep this in mind. Time will tell.

It doesn't have to be CBS. Keep in mind all teams were at the finish line. There are many ways for info like this to get out!

I always found that rather odd myself. Betting was suspended after one site received numerous bets on Osten and Sandra. Obviously, Sandra ended up being the winner, but why Osten received major action - I have no clue. Perhaps some staff insider joked that Sandra and Osten were the only two contestants not voted out this season, which of course is technically true.

I could be wrong, but wasn't Osten recieving a lot of bets but not for the max amount;Where as Sandra was recieving a lot of bets for the max amopunt?

Thats what I recall hearing -- that it appeared the Osten bets may have been placed to throw people off/reduce suspicion. The amount of money placed was less and no where near the numbers placed on Sandra. I think (I could be wrong) that they were placed by the same people as well.

Except for something like American Idol where the results are determined week-by-week, it seems like it would be foolish for casinos/bookmakers to take bets on reality shows. If the events have already happened, there's always going to be someone who knows the outcome.

I was thinking these same things about the bookies. The press release about this was sent out by the online casino and said for more information see their website. I clicked the link and didn't see any more information about TAR, but I saw plenty of opportunities to bet on stuff, so if nothing else, the online bookie's marketing is working.

So, how much money are we talking here? What are the "maximum allowable wagers", with odds. And who's to say Romber didn't place the bets (California and Mass.). I mean, if they didn't win the million on the show, the way Rob thinks now, after being on Survivor (find a way around, use what you know to your advantage (without breaking the rules too much), manipulate, faniggle, bamboosle, use-abuse-then lose (ask Lex)), what's to keep them from wagering? There's nothing in the contract that says they can't...

There would be something in the betting website's rules stating as much though. No one with prior knowledge as to the results of this show may bet on it's outcome, sounds like something that would be pretty standard in the Legal Disclaimer.

Betting activity in California and Massachusetts? I detect the sneaky hand of Boston Rob in this scandal - he would want to get money out of the deal, one way or another. Flipper

Yep, it's true they win. Dagnabit... I actually wanted the two girls who were eliminated last night to win. Since they were gone I wanted Lynn and Alex to win. Now it's Uchenna and Joyce who wins it. I'm not watching this anymore. I just have a feeling that some of these reality shows are rigged. I've had it. I'm turning off the TV and getting a good book and clean my house and hopefully do something more productive with my life. Naw, I'll watch it next week too.. You can only clean and read so much. I need TV...I need unreality.. I still think some of these shows are rigged though.
