okay I got this off of Reality Fan Forum, thanks to Trevor http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,4871.0.html

Reality Show's Winners May Have Been Leaked

NEW YORK, NY, March 9 /PRNewswire/ - Sportsbook.com has announced that
wagering on reality television series The Amazing Race has been halted due to
irregular betting patterns on contestants Uchenna and Joyce .

Over a 12-hour period last week, from the evening of Thursday, March 3
through the morning of Friday, March 4, a significant increase in betting on
these contestants alerted Sportsbook.com odds makers of a possible leak into
the show's outcome. All the bets under suspicion were placed from accounts in
California and Massachusetts and were for the maximum allowable wagers.

"Sportsbook.com is no longer taking bets on The Amazing Race. In fairness
to our customers we will honor all wagers that have already been placed on
this event," said Alex Czajkowski, Marketing Director, Sportsbook.com.

As the popularity of reality television programs such as The Amazing
Race, Survivor and The Apprentice continues to grow, so to does the amount of
interest in online wagering for these programs.

"We try to offer Sportsbook.com users betting options on every possible
event. From time to time we understand, unfortunately, that situations such as
this will arise and will have to be dealt with accordingly," said Czajkowski.

Sportsbook.com continues to offer odds on Survivor, American Idol,
Apprentice 3 and more. For additional information please visit
http://www.sportsbook.com.

Thanks for sharing, wendyp. It seems like most of the betting spoilers I've paid attention to have been on the money, so I'll keep this in mind. Time will tell.

I could live with them as the winners and Joyce can't get over because of the LAKR, so it will be another "team token" win.

Every betting spoiler I've ever paid attention to has been true, but... they could just be trying to throw us off, so we'll see!

LAST EDITED ON 03-09-05 AT 05:34 PM (EST)

LAKR, lazy-azz-Kim-rule: an abbreviation for the new rules which say that no one person may perform more than 6 roadblocks during the entire race.

Kim got over on this during TAR 5, and they won with Chip doing something like 8 or 9 roadblocks.

FYI: this was also true for Nicole & Christie.

All the bets under suspicion were placed from accounts in California and Massachusetts and were for the maximum allowable wagers.

This seems very strange since Uchenna and Joyce are from Houston, Texas. It seems that CBS has a very big leak within their organization.

The first episode, the Token couple mentioned that they knew their way around (Los Angeles) because they used to live there. The Massachusetts connection could possibly be that Romber came home, without a million bucks, complaining how the Token Crew just zipped by them at the last moment.

This is the fifth online betting spoiler that we've seen. The previous four (The Bachelor 2, Survivor: The Amazon, Survivor: Pearl Islands, The Apprentice 2) have all been correct:

Thus, I'll go "out on a limb" and predict that the online bettors will be correct for a fifth straight time.

I mentioned elsewhere but this is a better place for it, that I recalled there being a betting spoiler that Osten from Survivor made the final 2.

He quit, so If my memory is correct, the betting spoilers haven't been 100%. But, I've slept since then and may be incorrect.

26. "RE: Osten?"
I always found that rather odd myself. Betting was suspended after one site received numerous bets on Osten and Sandra. Obviously, Sandra ended up being the winner, but why Osten received major action - I have no clue. Perhaps some staff insider joked that Sandra and Osten were the only two contestants not voted out this season, which of course is technically true.

Actually, what I recall was that Lillian's name got a fair amount of attention going on as well as Sandra in that betting spoiler -- and no wonder, it turned out to be Lillian's husband that gave it away.

I'd have to go back and look it up, but I don't quite recall any betting related to Osten. I could be wrong, though.

30. "RE: Osten?"
Thats what I recall hearing -- that it appeared the Osten bets may have been placed to throw people off/reduce suspicion. The amount of money placed was less and no where near the numbers placed on Sandra. I think (I could be wrong) that they were placed by the same people as well.

31. "RE: Osten?"
That's certainly possible about a decoy bet on Osten... Another possibility is that the two names that were generating the most buzz within the CBS editing offices were Osten (because he quit) and Sandra (because she won), so someone on the 'outside' who may have been hearing this buzz might interpret it as the two finalists without knowing that one of the names quit in the game.

Who knows? We'll probably never know, but I do recall now that the buzz on Osten faded after a while and the buzz on Sandra continued with the betting spoiler.

Except for something like American Idol where the results are determined week-by-week, it seems like it would be foolish for casinos/bookmakers to take bets on reality shows. If the events have already happened, there's always going to be someone who knows the outcome.

18. "A method to their madness"
I suspect these online betting houses are reality show fans too. If they can set something up that reveals the winner for them, well, that's good for at least two reasons:

1) They'll know the winner before (almost) anyone else, and
2) They can send out a press release, garnering more publicity, more deposits, and (hopefully) more winnings

They might actually make money on the bets if enough other people bet on the losers, but that's not necessary. The bets are likely limited in size ($100 or so) to reduce their exposure.

I was thinking these same things about the bookies. The press release about this was sent out by the online casino and said for more information see their website. I clicked the link and didn't see any more information about TAR, but I saw plenty of opportunities to bet on stuff, so if nothing else, the online bookie's marketing is working.

So, how much money are we talking here? What are the "maximum allowable wagers", with odds. And who's to say Romber didn't place the bets (California and Mass.). I mean, if they didn't win the million on the show, the way Rob thinks now, after being on Survivor (find a way around, use what you know to your advantage (without breaking the rules too much), manipulate, faniggle, bamboosle, use-abuse-then lose (ask Lex)), what's to keep them from wagering? There's nothing in the contract that says they can't...

There would be something in the betting website's rules stating as much though.
No one with prior knowledge as to the results of this show may bet on it's outcome, sounds like something that would be pretty standard in the Legal Disclaimer.

Yep, it's true they win. Dagnabit... I actually wanted the two girls who were eliminated last night to win. Since they were gone I wanted Lynn and Alex to win. Now it's Uchenna and Joyce who wins it. I'm not watching this anymore. I just have a feeling that some of these reality shows are rigged. I've had it. I'm turning off the TV and getting a good book and clean my house and hopefully do something more productive with my life. Naw, I'll watch it next week too.. You can only clean and read so much. I need TV...I need unreality.. I still think some of these shows are rigged though.

I tried not to read this because I feared it may say the Rob & Amber are the winners. Since I found out that they finish 5th or 4th, I figured I'd look. If Uchenna & Joyce win, it'll make me happy. They're a nice team, don't fight and are almost identical to Chip & Kim in the way they race. This is one of TAR best seasons.

The sooner Rob & Amber get eliminated, the better.

If Uchenna and Joyce win, then you know Rob and Amber are gone pretty much gone before they hit the states. This is why...

If all the teams want Romber to yeild, more than likely they will at least once. It's very hard to be first at the yeild twice in a row. And now you have to feel that all the teams are out for them now.
