PLEASE NOTE: The Reality TV World Message Boards are filled with desperate
attention-seekers pretending to be one big happy PG/PG13-rated family. Don't
be fooled. Trying to get everyone to agree with you is like herding cats,
but intolerance for other viewpoints is NOT welcome and respect for other
posters IS required at all times. Jump in and play, and you'll soon find out
how easy it is to fit in, but save your drama for your mama. All members are

Ebert once said, "If you disagree with something I write, tell me so, argue
with me, correct me--but don't tell me to shut up. That's not the American way."

Not Laguna Beach, but I will tell you this, this show has completely commercialized. The first season was about helping the women. Now I believe it is about the women HELPING THE RATINGS of the show.

I'm glad more viewers are finally speaking up. Reality-Based Drama??? Kinda hard to dicipher huh? Maybe if they cussed one another like Hailey did when they brought Cassie 1 back to talk about HER (Haileys) alcohol problem when it was Cassie with the real problem !ie. Or if somebody would just SLAP someone else,(now that's what I call REALITY and DRAMA!!!) I keep hearing the ladies talk about how mad, sad, bad they are (all the while smiling)! When I am mad, a smile is the furthest thing on my mind! The HMs need to stop ACTING and start REACTING... .........ann

I feel this season is for more show than healing.Last season everyone could identify with several housemates problems. The best part is how they all worked together.

This has been a very hard season to connect to....I have been a watcher since inception and this season I can't seem to get into it. Maybe I'm just not getting "it"? Commercialism has taken over the show...The women that were in season one had real problems that many could relate to, season two had women with problems that women could relate to.....Season three???? too much specificity of the problems and the women are not easy to connect with, I can understand why TJ is having such trouble..

>I agree! You know I >was thinking...I can honestly say >that I really don't know >much about any of the >Housemates! Even their group >sessions are duds. All >I recall are the LCs >yapping about something and then >saying: >**What's happening Allison? >**What are the tears for Allison? > >**How are you feeling Jess? >And then Allison saying either she's >shamed; I get cancer; or >I disappear..... >Jessica just never knows. >Oh...Lisa looking like a deer caught >in the headlights. > >Does anybody else feel like this. > I'm sure with the >other seasons I knew a >lot about them by this >time. > >JMHO This is funny...LOL! And I couldn't agree with you more. This season seems to be really missing something. Also, the women might be consulting with friends outside the house and it is just not being shown like it was the previous two seasons. I know last season they only showed the conversations that were pot stirring convos. When one housemate had something not so nice to say about someone else or something. I do believe this season needs to get more substance or I can see this show ending up magically dissappearing. I mean not only are the HG being made to look silly. But the LC's with all of the dramaticals are looking like big jokes as well. I get that some people believe the LC's exercises are "good tools". But I'm not open to humiliation and I would shut down and lose focus of what the exercise purpose was, if humiliation was used to help me "get it". Sandra

I agree with you. None of the women seem to want to connect with one another. They get close one episode and by the next one, they've moved on and connected with a different house mate, leaving the previous one... it seems as if they're all enjoying a two week (or how ever long) vacation & their roommates are inciedntal. I think this is the last season & it should be, before the show gets REALLY bad. I doubt I'll watch next seasons SO house. As it is now, I'm really just curious about Jill and I honestly could just wait & read about her progress later on. I must admit to a guilty pleasure: I like watching all the different ways that DUMB A$$ Lisa will put her designer show in her mouth! I believe she is on drugs (seriously).

I am so disappointed with the SO show this season. It seems that all the drama queens were casted for this season. I was so hooked on season one and two, wouldnt miss it for the world...This season not so thrilled. It seems that that Iy, is always looking to see if the camera is on her, and I find it very distracting. Lets get back to the real reason the show was created, to show woman and men also, that goals can be acheived without silly exercises. It almost reminds me of truth or consequences.

I wish I could agree cause Lord knows I wish these women WERE acting! But I think they're for real. The 'problem' that most people are having with SO this season, and some have pointed it out, is what IV said at the last BOR: "There is no WARMTH in this house." Warmth meaning simple woman to woman bonding, friendships, cooperation. That is the common problem for all the women. They cannot connect with other women! How many telephone calls have any of the HGs made to girlFRIENDS? I cannot recall any of them speaking of any girlfriends on the outside, so why would they be expected to make friends in the house? They all have crazy issues that would drive most people, not just women, away from them. TJ with her diarrhea of the mouth would not just drive me away, she'd drive me nuts. Each woman has something off that keeps them isolated, closed off and unable to form friendships. That, along with all the women being followers - not a leader among them - is what makes this season seem so dry. Plus they have wierd problems (Lisa dressing up and ACTING like a baby was grossly off-putting to me).

Hey Busy! I'm not willing to take it that far, but I do think that there are so many people wanting to get on these reality shows that they are becoming very sophisticated and knowing just how to "Create" drama. You hear about people who have been to audition after audition. Sooner or later, they will eventually end up on a show like S.O. and basically, contaminate the true intention/integrity of the show. Thanks for the input!

I don't know about the housemates being compromised...but I do know that I am starting to hate Iyanla and Rhonda...they have compromised their principles and are being very mean to the housemates.

I think that there are just so many Reality shows on now, everyone goes on the show with a preconcieved notion about how s/he should act. They all know how they'd like to be percieved and they know that EVERYTHING is being filmed, so they behave accordingly. If any of you watched the very first Survivor you'll recall how REAL that was... no beautiful, perfect bodies, b/c no one knew that they'd be on so many TV sets. After that, the show, and all other "Reality" shows that followed went Hollywood, because contestants knew they'd be seen by so many people... They're ALL hamming it up. How can you be real with a freakin camera crew following you around.

I think that towards the end of last season they really started to step up the the drama for ratings. The whole thing with Tess and Meg and whats-her-face crazy alcoholic lady. It was all too much. I'm really dissapointed with the LC's this season, especially with the couples. I think the couples helped themselves more than the coaches did anything. Rhonda is laying it on so thick right now it's impossible to imagine her acting like a normal person. She's always been over the top but it seems this season she's taken a few acting lessons and its almost like she taking direction from someone on the other side of the camera. I think whoever takes this show to heart and literally is in serious denial about the world of Reality TV. The more they step up the drama, the more ratings, the more money in their pocket. We see on the show what they want us to see. For all we know TJ may not be that bad and Lisa not that stupid and Jessica not that weepy and Allison not that depressed. It's called EDITING people... Its sad where this show has gone. The first season seemed real to me. The first half of last season too, but it's just gone down hill from there. I'm done with my 2 cents

Hey Ladies! I couldn't agree more. Thanks for the great feedback. Who knows, maybe somebody from the show will read these comments and take it to heart. It is really a shame when a show, with such wonderful intentions, goes commercial. They end up not helping anybody...Not even us! I guess we'll have to fix ourselves...This is OUR Starting Over House (eh hem...Message Board) lol. Have a great day!
