"Why Hank can say anything"

Posted by Dpao on 08-27-03 at 03:43 PM
Hank can say "I want to take all of your clothes off. I want to make love to you," and not get in trouble because he was sincere and it comes off and sexy/cute. If anyone else had said that, (even Evan because it would have only made him seem like a player), it just would have been wrong. In front of his family Hank was very affectionate towards Lisa, but nothing too over the top like Renda was.

Lisa's actions towards Hank also seem like she's more interested in him than the other guys. When Hanks family asks her about the toothpast she leans in toward Hank and it's just a really cut gesture. She's always smiling with him and never wanting to leave. It was too funny how she just kept laughing after they showed their date. I think she was laughing at Hank's reaction, it was very funny. When Kim starts to as him about Jeckle and Hyde, you can see Lisa still laughing and point at Hank and turn to laura smiling and say "did you see him?" And Hank even when the girls were talking to him, seemed to be looking at lisa and making that face, like "oh my god! they really showed that." I thought the whole thing was just really great and these two definitely, as laura said, "make the most sense."

Also about the whole, Hank bashing the other guys, I totally disagree. I just think Hank is being honest. He doesn't like the guys and that's the bottom line. He likes lisa and it's hard for him to deal with the situation. He said to her, "I'm telling you right now, I cannot share you." Again he's being honest, and shows that it's not about winning the competition. He wants her and a relationship with her.

Nicely put Dana. Hank is in it for Lisa while someone like Joe is in it for the competition of the game.

Although I am not a Joe fan, I totally disagree with you statement (also made by one of the girls) that he is in it for the competition. He is totally into Lisa. What do you base that on?

People are so judgemental of these guys remember you are only seeing 5 minutes of a date which is edited.

That being said i hope Joe gets the boot next. I don't like him.

The reason I think he's in it for the money is because money and spending it has been a recurrent thing for Joe from the very first date.

Well said. Also, the bashing of the other guys was because he was put on the spot, and he chose to answer honestly rather that give some polite non-answer (and Kimberly specifically said she thought it deserved an honest answer)...because of the bashing some others did of him last week. Had they not been doing it first, it would never have come up and he wouldn't have said anything about them.

The oily pores, the big nose, the scalp showing through the God Awful hair cut. What is it about this dork that chicks find appealing?

He may not look like the classic 'pretty boy' type, but he's a real man (not a frat boy type) with rugged good looks and he has treated Lisa very well..I like the chemistry they have together, the both always seem so enthusiastic and happy to be together.

I hope you are right...she seems really smitten with him.

I think it was unfortunate...and embarassing for poor Hank that he was put on the spot to defend himself against the remarks the other guys made.. I do think he sounded a bit defensive though...sorry... I know how everyone adores the guy next door Hank..but I just bet he can be a bit of a hot head...I like the chemistry between Evan and Lisa so much more.I see Lisa and Evan's temperments as so much more closely matched...no hint of any Mr. Hyde lurking in the shadows in Evan's psyche

Well...honestly, maybe it just can't be seen because it's hiding behind the shadows of a womanizer. I don't totally trust the guy...and I soooo wish the show would put these guys to the test and see who would cheat and who wouldn't! He's growing on me a little, but I still just have to wonder about him....he was awfully anxious to have Laura and Kim sit on his lap just a few weeks ago!

I don't really think Hank is that much of a hot-head, but with his military school background I can see that he is much more disciplined and mature than a lot of the guys in that house, and probably doesn't have a high tolerance for some of their frat boy behavior (and by the way, he specifically said that none of them were bad people, just not his kind of people...I didn't think that was all that harsh). I think I wouldn't like it either.....think of it, totally different personalities, all dating the same woman, and they have to spend pretty much every minute of the day together. I'm surprised there haven't been any fistfights with all that testosterone!

I've definitely been a Hank fan from day one but I am starting to fray a bit after seeing him in the house. I understand that there are emotions flying around and he doesn't like some of the other guys but I'm starting to feel a bit uncomfortable about perhaps some latent hostility in Hank. (All this from an hour reality TV show on Tuesday night, huh? LOL) Maybe its some unconscious radar I have, with a verbally abusive relationship in my past..but Hank seems too smiley and happy all the time with Lisa and then there seems to be a big difference in the house. I understand how he explained that he is going to be different with the guys...but I haven't seen any of the other guys shown with that big a difference in personalities between being with Lisa and the other guys. They seem to basically be the same person...to me, it seems that Hank isn't. Seems like he's cleaning himself up for Lisa...sure every guy is going to do that but the essence of their personality is going to stay the same...they are not going to be 2 people. I really don't like the Hank they showed in the house.

Because of this, Evan is starting to ease past Hank in my opinion anyway. I think Evan portrays himself the same all around, and what you see is what you get. Next week I may go back to liking Hank...who knows?? I've never been able to pick the right man for myself...how am I supposed to pick one for someone else?? It's just too much damn pressure!!!

You seem to be the only one willing to believe that Hank may be "less than perfect" for Lisa. I think that your experience counts for alot. Lisa is really a very precious and I am afraid..a bit naiive girl...and her friend Laura, despite her faults, surprises me by her willingness to discount the fact that the other guys have mentioned the Jeckle and Hyde thing. Yes, Evan is a bit of a player, but what a hopelessly romantic and sweetly smitten and joyfully happy guy he is in Lisa's presence he is RIGHT now..Let them explore what new love is all about...America....get rid of the grouch..

I have to agree with you okdebi. I really like Hank but there was something from Tuesday's show that didn't feel right. Loved the passion he has for Lisa but I'm starting to wonder a little about him. Surprisingly, I'm starting to like Evan. I still can't get over the fact that he wanted Laura & Kim to sit in his lap though. I'm going to have to see how their dates go next week. I'm rooting for Hank ... hope he doesn't turn out to be a real Jekyl & Hyde.
