Lady T Lake Tahoe. Beautiful Sand Harbor in Lake Tahoe is the place I am meeting Cygnus. I think I will pop right over to Las Vegas and do some gambling and maybe see some shows. Some cash advances on Webby's credit card will put me in the style that I am accustomed too. Ahhh, there is Cygnus now and he's without Ladycub too.... Cygnus Hello Lady T. Are you enjoying yourself here? Isn't this place wonderful?
Lady T Why yes it is. Where is ladycub?
Cygnus She has gone snorkeling this morning. This is One of my favorite places to visit with Ladycub. Concerts are held here, and we’ve like to go snorkeling in the clear blue waters so that is where she is today. Yet you can still see snow on the very tops of the pine-covered mountains. Over there is Heavenly ski resort, and on that side of the lake is Squaw Valley, where the 1960 Winter Olympics were held.
Lady T I sure say it is heavenly. If I said, do you come here often, it might sound like I am picking you up so I think I am just going to begin. How did you find Reality TV World?
Cygnus Of all people, I have Jonathan from TAR 6 to thank for finding this place. After the Berlin episode featuring The Shove, Ladycub and I were so infuriated and wanted to see if others thought the same as we did. Lo and behold, we found these boards. I lurked for a few weeks, then took the plunge after the completion of the super-long episode in Budapest . . . HUNGARY! I discovered OT soon after.
Lady T We are glad you did. What are your favorite shows?
Cygnus TAR is about the only show in prime time that I make any time on my schedule to watch. And we discovered it by accident last summer when Season 5 was getting underway. We watched the opening episode and were hooked.
I don’t watch much network TV, and I don’t have cable. I prefer to watch DVD reruns of Hogan’s Heroes, Dragnet, and MASH, among others. I’m just not that happy with most of what’s on TV these days. Kinda weird that I’m on this board, huh? I also have a tape collection of Whose Line Is It Anyway?.
Lady T Wow, you like those old TV shows.
Cygnus I sure do and I love me a good football game. I get a real letdown when the season ends.
Lady T I hear you. Patriots are soooo gonna threepeat.
Cygnus In your dreams.
Lady T Whatever. Anyways, who are your favorite contestants and why?
I really liked Jon and Kris on TAR 6. While they may not have been as animated as the others, I felt like they were the sort you could easily have a nice dinner with. They lived the Race to the fullest, and came within one tactical error of winning it all.
On 7, even though they didn’t get all that far, I couldn’t get enough of Brian and Greg. They were hysterical. And they gave that race two of its most memorable moments: their ridiculous getup when they arrived at the Pit Stop for Philimination, and that spirited race to the mat to eliminate Ray and Deana after they had wrecked their truck. I think I rewound and watched that something like 5 times.
Lady T I have to say Brian and Greg cracked me up too. I too loved their outfits. Speaking of TAR,If you were to go on TAR who from the past's strategy would you want to incorporate into your own?
Cygnus I would basically try to hang back in the pack for a while, then move up as the race went on. I’d want to be underestimated, a la Chip and Kim and Uchenna and Joyce. Of course, I’d have to overcome some of my shortcomings, like my tendency to act before I think.
Lady T Good strategy. Now, I know you like sports. I think anyone who has ever read your posts knows that you like sports. Who are your favorite teams?
Cygnus Go Ravens! I was raised on the Baltimore Colts, and was crushed when they left town on March 28, 1984. So I bided my time and rooted for the Baltimore Stallions of the CFL when they came to town for a couple years. Then the Ravens came to town, and all was right with the world again. Managed to go to the final Baltimore Colts game ever and the first Baltimore Ravens game ever. Loved it when the defense-minded Ravens won it all in 2000.
I used to be a much bigger Orioles fan, but then the 1994 strike came along. Now I just pay attention to as much or as little as suits me.
Lady T Must be pretty little as they are sucking ##### right now. Go Red Sox!!!
Cygnus Can I say 86 years? Anyways, Ladycub, well, I think everyone knows who she roots for! But she’s an O’s fan too.
I was also a big hockey fan until this past lockout. I preferred going to the minor league games in Baltimore, but not there’s no minor league team in the whole state. And since I don’t care for the NHL, I guess that’s it for me with that sport.
I keep half an eye out to world soccer, and am looking forward to next year’s World Cup.
I enjoy bowling and golf, although my golf scores more resemble my bowling scores, and vice versa.
Lady T Yep, I guess you like sports. So tell us a little about yourself. We all know you are married, so tell us a little about yourself.
Cygnus I was born and raised in Baltimore. I spent 11 years working for the Defense Department before deciding that wasn’t what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. So I bounced around from IT to computer sales, and then got into broadcasting. I finished first in my broadcasting school class, with folks who were young enough to be my kids. I’ve been working in radio in some form or another ever since. But more about that in a minute.
Came from a large Catholic family of 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Mom and Dad have been married 46 years.
Ladycub and I were married in September 1995. She’s also my best friend. She keeps me grounded, and I get her going. (No, that’s not code for anything. Yet.) We have no children, but we do have three cats: Minnie, Maya, and Patches.
Lady T Sounds like you have a very happy life. Do you like being in radio?
Cygnus Being in radio has fulfilled a dream of sorts for me. I am currently a traffic and weather reporter and can work all sorts of crazy hours. Although it can get repetitive (especially overnight), it’s still on the cusp of what’s happening.
Before that, I was a news reporter for a local radio station. Covered the arrest of the snipers just up the road from here, and won several Associated Press awards for my other efforts, including for a series I did on gambling. At one point, though, I put 20,000 miles on my car in 6 months driving between my home near Baltimore (at the time), Frederick, and York, PA! I was a “board operator” there.
And maybe the most enjoyable job ever? Walking through the Memorial Stadium stands as a vendor in 1983, the year the O’s won the World Series and the Colts played their last season in Baltimore.
Lady T I knew it had to do with sports Besides visiting OT, what do you do in your spare time?
Cygnus What spare time after OT? Seriously, I like to bike ride, swim, and volksmarch, none of which I’ve done enough of lately. And play fantasy football in OT and another league.
I have been in community theater, and would like to return to that once my work schedule stabilizes. Last role was Samuel Chase of Mary-land in “1776”. I’ve also appeared in “Oklahoma!”, “Dracula”, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, and “Much Ado About Nothing.”
Lady T SOunds like you have a very full life. Well, my helicopter has arrived to take me to Vegas. Why don't you go snorkeling with your lovely wife. I have had a blast here with you, getting to know you a little better.
