"My New Favorites List"

1. Corey - I loved how he was able to Improv and still be funny at the laundromat! Plus, the sleeping with the golf club bit was also funny.
2. John - OK, I came around with this guy. We just have so much in common. Early 30's, married, like video games. I thought he was funny last night cause I could relate to what he was talking about.
3. Jay - Not much personality. Really disappeared in the house. That's why I dropped him a couple of spots, but I still like his one liners.
4. Todd - Sometimes funny, sometimes annoying, yet even though he is occasionally annoying, at least he's still entertaining at times. Plus, he's under Ant's skin, which is a good thing!
5. Alonzo - You form an alliance and you let Ant a Tammy be the leaders of the group? Come on Alonzo, step up!
6. Gary - "I know I'm funnier than Jay!" I know you're WRONG!
7. Ant - Can we all agree we are sick of hearing the same 2 jokes over and over again?
8. Kathleen - Boring! Nothing about her act or her personality is the house is entertaining me.
9. Tammy - Also boring, haven't liked her act up to this point, choked at the laundromat, has teamed up with Ant, and her over dramatic behavior in the house is annoying........please let her be the next to go!

Finally, I was pretty happy to see Bonnie get booted last night. See has the same problem as a lot of the other comics, WRITE SOME NEW MATERIAL!

Agree 100%. That was the point I was trying to make in another post. I was surprised at how funny he was lastnight. That is the first time he's made me laugh. He crushed Bonnie with over 90% of the vote.

Same thing I mentioned to my wife. Why do you pick two of the weakest comics in the house and then sit back?

Agree

To me she it seems as though they are trying to make her this years Corey (LC1).

Why do you pick two of the weakest comics in the house and then sit back?

Because Alonzo knows if they make the final 5, he'll kick Tammy and Ant's butts.

Not a bad strategy if you ask me.

I didn't watch in the first season, but tuned in for one episode in New York and the episode in which Drew and Brett went wild last week. When I saw the previews for the upcoming weeks, and the weird stunts they will have to perform, I really didn't have an interest in watching (I guess I don't really much like watching people being humiliated ALL the time -- now humiliating themselves a la Survivor All-Stars, that's another story). But, my significant other convinced me to watch last night. Here are some thoughts from a LCS newbie:

- You can really tell the difference between the more seasoned veterans and those who aren't so career-oriented.
The pro has a wide selection of material from which to choose that can be tailored to the circumstances. (See Jim Wiggins from Las Vegas last week. I loved his bit about passing out by the pool.) It's pretty obvious, for example, that Alonzo has done some work on the college circuit because he took those "this is an example of why you should stay in school" jokes and tailored them to this laundromat crowd.

- At the same time, however, you can also tell the difference between those who have an ear (and maybe even a talent) for comedy improv and those who have an act that is too gimicky (shticky) and can't think outside that box.
Even though most of the jokes they wrote on the spot fell flat, at least an effort was made to try to fit that act with the circumstances.

- I really liked what Alonzo said about how he forgot for a brief time that he was in a competition. Losing out on that opportunity for the Colorado trip really hit him and a few others quite hard. Some are seeing really big picture (long-term career goals that require more exposure than just this show) while others are entirely focused on this show and what LCS will bring them if they finish in top 5.
I'm sorry, but I have never heard of the names that have been mentioned in this forum from last year's competition. Dat who? To me, that's an indication that the 15 minutes of fame pretty much ends with the closing credits of the finale. When people like Ant are hanging their hats on this show only, they are in trouble.
Bonnie was too interested in Tammy choking at the laundromat, for example, and too focused on whether Jay was laughing for her. I can only imagine what must have been going through her head when they revealed the hidden talent scout. "Crap, she saw that."

- Love her or hate her, I had to howl with laughter when Tammy was pulling the Robfather routine talking about taking out Todd's partners in crime and leaving him friendless in the house. HILARIOUS. It's too bad her hot head, and teaming up with Ant, will do her in.

- I LOVE the photo booth voting, and I REALLY LOVE the concept of being able to fight to stay in the house when you have been voted out. It's a much better design than Survivor, for example, because it has the potential to eliminate the sneak attacks. It's so much easier to stab someone in the back when you know they have no recourse and must leave the set immediately, than it is to do so with the possibility that you may have to live with them for many more days.

- Already, you can see the division between those who understand this is a game which may require strategy and a Survivor-like alliance and those who naively believe they may win this competition by actually being the funniest person. Gary is a good example of one who will probably be burned by a lack of strategy. (Or maybe he actually has a strategy. Maybe voting for one other who you honestly believe you can beat, but who you also know will not be voted out and can therefore not challenge you to a show-down, may actually work. If you avoid a head-to-head, you can guarantee you stay in the house -- unless you are voted out.) And John, from last night's head-to-head, is a good example of one who has no clue about strategy and will allow himself to be manipulated by those he thinks can play this game better than he can.

Sadly, I don't know the names well enough to list my favourites but I can tell you who I do not like:
Kathleen -- dull
Ant -- it's pretty obvious to me that this guy has rarely (if ever) been in the "in crowd" in his life, and will fall victim to his sense of being in a power seat in his alliance -- not to mention he's really obnoxious
Jay -- try something new, please (edited to add: I have seen only 3 shows this season, and this guy has done the same jokes in each one)

Welcome to the LCS boards Snowbunny! I'd say you pretty much have a handle on things at this point.

Corey killed last night!!!

Bonnie was lame in the challenge. Her set had no direction. She was just spitting out jokes. Heffron's set was excellent. He only needs to calm down & slow down.

I am starting to turn on Ant. He needs to stop with the SF joke. Doesn't he know that the people at home are watching & are getting bored with his repetition. No way to get a sitcom.

One thing I noticed that was different this year is that the other comics did not appear to attend the head to head. I think it's a good idea for them to be there. It adds more drama.

1. Corey - I knew this guy was funny! He was great last night.

2. Jeff - I love this guy too! I love his energy on stage - he reminds me of Bobcat without the annoying voice. He's still trying to figure out how to play the "game". We may see him on stage quite a bit.

3. Alonzo - I like his act. He's a funny guy with maturity on his side. I also like his strategy (see Spidey's post).

4. Jay - He's funny, but he may get old quick.

5. Kathleen - I'm just waiting for her to break out of her shell.

6. Gary - He seems totally clueless.

7. Ant - ick

8. Tammy - BLEH!!! Although her "take out Todd's friends" approach was too funny to watch. She just seems way too insecure for me to like her.

9. Todd - most.annoying.guy.ever.

Doodle my list is almost identical to yours! Swap 2 & 3 and 7 & 9 and you've got my list.

I was sooooo glad Bonnie left last night. I couldn't figure out why she'd gotten in the house.

agree with everything except for Corey Holcomb. Can he not go through a whole episode without mentioning the "ghetto " and constant references to women? please, come up with a new line already. I think Ant is the most overrated comic. PLEASE!!!

1.Jon-Laid down the gauntlet last week Probably a target again this week. Needs not to be a wimp anymore.
2.Alonzo-Unless John makes it through as an underdog setting himself up to be an easy winner this year
3.Kathleen-shes an easy final five contestant
4.Todd-as long as he's in the house he'll be interesting
5.Gary-needs to go backto being an accoutant
6.Jay-New jokes please sir
7.Corey-funny if you call hitting on the women comedy
8.Tammy-Nice way to stereotype yourself moron what the hell do you know about the mafia other than what you saw on tv
9.Ant-please eliminate this fool Before people start scooby doo becomes the gayt people's mascot

They definately need to edit this show better, as soon as bonnie picked Jon I knew who was going due to the fact that the idiots at nbc showed jon at another showdown wearing something different.

1. Alonzo (1)

2. Jay (2) - SO GLAD these two are teaming together!
--------------

3. John (3) - for going with the alliance, stays up top

4. Kathleen (5)

5. Tammy (6) - loved her getting it on with Bitchy Bonnie

6. Ant (7) - tolerable since he's with the peeps i like

7. Gary (4) - takes the big fall for being part of the loser group. maybe a bit too much of a fall, or maybe his one good set in round 2 had him overvalued to begin with, we'll see. opnly mover in the group so far though

---------
8. Todd (7) good lord he was annoying

9. Corey (10) - WTF? i cannot believe this idiot won. how on earth is INSULTING the audience you're supposed to make laugh funny?!?! the fact that any of them actually laughed only shows that they deserved being made fun of, not that he was funny.

Bonnie (9) - haha, loser. now hopefully the other completely unfunny one, Corey will follow you out the door

These are my Picks to the End-- not necessarily my favorites in order.

# 1 Gary-- I think he'll win any head-to-head because he's likeable, handsome, and surprisingly funny. He's my pick to the end. Last Comic Standing (except for the part where he's blowing it strategy and alliance-wise)

#2 John-- though I think he's definitely beatable. The other comics strike me as weak.

#3 Todd-- his in-house stuff is too much but I think he can command an audience.

#4 Corey-- Didn't like that he repeated the same bits, but I think he has funny material.

#5 Alonzo?? I can't get a handle on his material. He seems to lack a real presence.

#6 Jay London-- against the right comic he could win-- his stuff is original to an audience but also weird. He'd lose out against more traditional comics.

#7 Tammy-- Thought she was funniest the first time she performed, but I also liked her because her poor father had just had a heart attack. She's flubbed it since then, so we'll see.

#8 Kathleen Madigan-- her stage presence and jokes seem weak. Maybe she'd beat someone like Jay or Corey (if race played a factor) but I don't see her as really strong.

#9 Ant.
