"Ellen won't be judging anymore"

Ellen's statement from Fox's official release:

A couple months ago, I let FOX and the AMERICAN IDOL producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me,” said DeGeneres. “I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next. It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for. I also realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. I loved the experience working on IDOL and I am very grateful for the year I had. I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.

J-Lo will take Ellen's place next season. Should be interesting!

That will really mess with Kara's head. Meow.

And now, to honor Ellen's time on the show, here's a list of all the memorable things she said and did there.

I wanted to be comprehensive.

FOX hasn't confirmed Jennifer yet, but it makes sense for them to hold off for the Major Official Announcement.

Apparently she didn't go willingly, though. TMZ reports that she was fired. So much for the anticipated cat-fights with J-Lo!

I'm sure Nigel Lythgoe will be pleased. RTVW reports that if he can finalize his deal to return to the show, he would prefer only three judges and would replace the whole panel.

Please, please, please let it be Seacrest next...

Y'know the real pity about Kara being voted off? Forget about the quality of her judging -- I just felt she had so much commercial potential. Advertisers could have put her in a little box. And locked her in. Forever.

We never have to listen to that patented Kara-speech again. I'm vaguely thankful.

At this point, who's waiting for Randy to complete the British Massacre?

Steven Tyler is reported as saying it's a done deal, he's going to be a judge. Bret Michaels is reported as saying he's interested. I've heard the same of Katy Perry.

Simon's gone. Kara and Ellen are both out the door.

So is Randy holding auditions all by his lonesome?

The celeb judges usually aren't around at this point. They are doing the big cattle calls and that is only producers deciding who will see the celeb judges.

I think usually the "see the judges" rounds are in like mid-September/Octoberish even when all the cattle calls are made in the summer.

Or so says

Apparently she didn't learn from Paula that the girls can't make too many demands if they want to be on the judges panel.

Ellen DeGeneres: nide women. Talented comedian. Great dancer. No business judging American Idol.

Possible replacements? Who the hell knows.
