"Last Year's Controversy?"

I've heard plenty about the selection controversy this year, but one article caught my attention. It said something to the nature of 'Here we go again! Controversy hits this season of Last Comic Standing too!' I watched the first season from start to finish, and I don't remember anything particularly controversial about anything in the first season. Did it have to do with Jay Mohr being a good friend of Rich Vos from before the show?

I don't know. I watched every episode. The only thing that they could try to make controversial is Dat Phan beating out Ralphie May. They both were good and the people spoke. I thought Ralphie May had a better set that night.

Yeah, I think this refers to the Dat Phan/Ralphie May controversy of last year-- which didn't really exist, except in the minds of the people who thought Ralphie should win, even though his last set went on for an obnoxious five minutes of yelling about the high price of gas. Ahh, Ralphie May. At least his bit is still relevant a year later. He has that to console him now.

Wow, I'm snarky today. Sorry!

The controversy was over the fact that Dat was edited to look like the underdog, and the one being picked on. Then Dat wins all these head to head competitions with established (read funnier) comedians. It was easy to tell that Dat was being forced on us as the producers choice. He pretty much had the same material throughout the contest.

As for Ralphie's screaming, the same thing could be said about Dat doing the impersination of his mom's voice.

I don't even think Dat Phan should have even made it into the top five, there's no way he was funnier than dave mordal or the other guy, I bet I'd be a good comedian if i just stood on stage running back and forth squeaking an obnoxious voice that sounds like a dieing elephant.
