Are they paid anything while the show is taping? Meaning are they given a weekly salary while still on the show.
We heard that they are given some kinda clothing allowance.
But, surely the adults need some money.

This is from the homepage of AI. I was just wondering if the Brass Ring is a metaphor or some kind of real trophy. (I didn't watch any other seasons)

Also I have no Idea what the contestans make...I would put money on the fact that you get paid more the longer you stay though.

I think they are referring to the prize of winning the record contract. The big brass ring is a metaphor that originated with the Carousel, which had a brass ring hanging from the roof. People would try to grab the ring as the horse rose up, because if you could touch it, then you would get a free ride. Of course, the ring is placed in such a way that it was unattainable to all but a very few.

Seems like a pretty good metaphor for this contest, no?

I heard somewhere $100,000 for the top contestants, but I have no idea the validity or how many "top contestants" would be.
