"A heartwarming glimmer of hope on this day of tragedy..."

Despite the horror of today's events, I heard what was the most heartwarming "image" of the day. The 6 o'clock news was running a story on what Canadians were doing in reaction to the suicide bombing, and they began to talk about giving blood.
They said something to the effect of, "the Canadian Blood Services were planning to stay open until 8pm tonight, but there was an overwhelming response of citizens to give blood to aid those in New York. As a result, the Canadian Blood Services have now closed their doors for the evening and will continue taking blood donations tomorrow."
Hearing about such an overwhelming response to help those in need put a smile on my face and a fire in my heart. I hope hearing this does the same for you.

This IS heartwarming, Surv. At tragic times like these, it gives us a liitle of our faith back in mankind to hear such wonderful stories. We are ALL one, after all...

God bless you all and your loved ones.

I saw a website last week that showed people all over the world, including Russia and countries I never heard of, praying, placing flowers near a memorial, or otherwise expressing their sympathy and concern. With so much work to do to eradicate terrorism, it was reassuring.

...oh, you Canadians will be giving blood alright, plenty of blood! And none of it will be voluntarily either!

Look at all the Canadians running to give blood....sounds like there must be a bunch of guilty-feeling people up North having trouble sleeping at night.

Just admit what you did, and what you plan to do...and then take your collective beating like a man. It'll all be over quicker than you can say, "When was the last time Canada won Gold in Olympic Men's Ice Hockey?"

CILL ALL CANADIANS
