...a dialouge game.

I figured that with the talking like a pirate (always a good time) and the interesting diversity of characters/pirate wannabes for MB's new show, we might consider having a "BeThe..." game for the inaugural season of PirateMaster.
Anyone interested?

The premise is easy...pick a cast-member, be it an actual player or some other animate/inanimate object the players might come it contact with and then post as if you are that person/object.
Be snarky, be Un-PC, be funny, just be.

I'll be taking sign-ups in this thread (for serious and commited folks only).


RULES: Aye, there are rules...
1. Casting: Sign up for a PirateWannabe to speak for/represent. One spot per PirateWannabe. You may not be someone already taken or reserved. I will go by first come basis. I'll try to be fair and work it out if there is a problem. Sign-up sheet will be posted below.

2. Please post at least once a week/episode.
After being set-adrift - optional, you may still add comments. If you're gonna be out for an extended period of time, or just end up going missing, I will reassign the character.

3. Sign the bottom of EVERY post you write with your PirateWannabe's siggie. I will provide you with a siggie, once "casting" has been established.

4. Speak as your PirateWannabe would speak, and speak for them. Share your PirateWannabe's inner thoughts about what happened in the episode, and what they think of the other PirateWannabes. Praise, tease or Bash away. Be Funny.

5. Have fun, this is not for SERIOUS bashing. As always, don't bash other players personally.

6. Anyone not signed up as a character/survivor, is still invited to make comments about the survivors or about posts, just please do not speak as a character - just be yourself, a cameraperson, or some other object, etc.

7. This is NOT the place for spoilers. DO NOT POST SPOILERS in here!!!

8. This game is an Angelfood original. Most of the rules, I swiped from her, and the concept is solely hers. Without such a goddess to work off of, I wouldn't be sharing this game at all. Make sure to give a posthumous shout-out to Angelfood.

Now's the time to reserve your character before the show.

I will be making siggies for each of the pirate wannabes and for most of the other non-player "characters" but now's the time to put your claim on one of them.

Please, please limit your reservations for 1 pirate wannabe. If it so happens that this game and most of it's participants go un-spoken for, then we can double up on characters. But for now, just pick one. This doesn't mean you can't be anything else as a character. Feel free to claim "The Ship" as your character. Or "The Republic of Dominica" or "The Masthead" or "The Ghost of Henry Steel", etc. Be the bilge rats for freak sake. The more characters the richer the experience.

A Casting Wish:

From my first read of Tribe’s intriguing game premise, I had thought to be The Ship. But, principally because I have never set foot on the smallest of sailboats (much less upon the decks of a grand Tall Ship), after several hours of wandering about her fascinating website, I’ve reluctantly concluded that I’m simply not qualified to ‘speak’ for the S/V Barque Picton Castle.

I truly hope, though, that one of you will assume her Pirate Master role. What a splendid, entertaining and (potentially) sidesplittin’ funny yarn she has to spin! In fact, in the entry in his Log regarding her incarnation as a ghostly pirate ship, Captain Daniel Moreland proffers that she may well be the star of the show. And it should come as no surprise that I agree!

So, to that end, I’ll do my best to entice the enlistment of a saltier dog than I to play her part with these additional links to tidbits of the tale:

In this post to the Crew’s Journal, there is confirmation that all of us who speculated that the cast of Pirate Master must have received some sail training were right! But, for a wonderfully detailed description of the relationship between her professional crew, her cadre of trainees and the cast of Pirate Master and its production personas, you will have to read the whole thing …

Sailing from her homeport in Nova Scotia and bound for the Caribbean (first to Grenada and then on to her February date in Dominica), on December 8, 2006 the Picton Castle lost a mate and a friend to a stormy sea. There is a very moving tribute to Laura on the site. I was particularly struck by the entry that provided a candid perspective of the friction engendered by the ship’s loss of one of her own vis a vis the press’ loss of ‘Bob Gainey’s daughter’.

Here, for all of us lubbers who will soon have to find our ways around her, are interactive ‘maps’ of her sails and decks. I’ve decided to forego any attempt to learn her ropes. There are well over a hundred o' th’ snakin’, slitherin’ devils!

Finally:

For all of our scurvy East Coast spoiling community, here is the ship’s East Coast Summer 2007 itinerary. She was in Charleston harbor (and open to the public) May 18 to 20 and she’ll be at anchor in Norfolk and receiving visitors June 7 to 12, in Newport June 27 to July 1, in Halifax July 13 to 16, in Port Hawkesbury July 18 to 19 and in Sydney July 21 to 23.

And the scuttlebutt is that many of the crewmembers who sailed aboard her in the Caribbean (and during the filming of Pirate Master) are still aboard. Fair winds, following seas and good grillin’, me hardies!

And, as it would seem that I ha'e need to be more prudent when discussin' some one or a'other portion of ship's anatomy, I be grateful to ye for me education a'ready begun. 'Deck' bein' the example, I nay think I'll e'er make casual mention of a 'fo'castle' hereafter.

So, sail on silver ship! I be sailin' right ... astern.

With all of that information you supplied, Georgianna, I find it difficult to understand why you feel so inadequate to speak on behalf of the Picton Castle.
Your empassioned plea for a spokesperson did not go unheeded though...seems our resdient daredevil is up to the task.
(By the way... hiya mister dangle! Enjoy the queen's holiday? Just to let you know, there are still a couple of awards waiting for you in the Ourtopian Lost&Found department. Check it out.)

However, I'm still going to encourage you G, to pick someone or something else and join in on the fun. The more "characters" in play, the more fun this whole game turns out to be.

Another reason I didn't 'be' the Picton Castle was that I didn't think that I'd have the time to do her personality (ships are not things) justice.

But, if she hasn't found a 'voice' by Monday (and if she survives tonight), I'll see if I can acquit myself well as Alexis (the other-than-Cheryl Shrew of the Show). There are those (I've been married a very long time) who would say that I've certainly had enough practice for the part.

Though I'd really like to portray Jay (I've always wanted to 'be' a Libra), even at my 'comfortable' age, my timbre just isn't that deep ...

And even if I don't 'be' anyone but me, I'll sure be around. This is ... fantastic!

And I hear Glowie still wants to play but has some time constraints coming up. So I'll keep Jupiter open for a bit longer to see if anyone else can commit to the part.
Glowie knows if she comes back too late she may have to pick a different character. But I don't want that to stop her from enjoying her vacation.

Hiya Rudes! Welcome to the game.
At the moment, all of the piratewannabes have been spoken for but I do need someone to temp for both Jupiter/Glow and Kendra/rasslinmomma.
They both are taking a couple weeks off and need someone to speak for them in their absence. Sound interesting?

Other then that, it's up to the fertile mind which "character" you'd like to play. Like The JollyRoger, or the Bell, or the Chest of Zanzibar. etc.

Tell me who/what you wanna be and I'll get you your "costume" ready for the game.
