"Season 18, Ep 4"

It's the partner switch and Julianne Hough is the guest judge.

Another horrible intro dance. When does the new season of SYTYCD start?

Thanks to tribephyl for the sigpic!

Song: The Ballroom Blitz

Scores: 7+7+7+7=28

"James & Cheryl - Tango"
Posted by udg on 04-07-14 at 09:42 PM
Song: Dark Horse

Some commentary on how she's not as tall or blonde as Peeta, but Cheryl was born to Tango. *sizzle* I love her!

Scores: 9+8+9+9=35

I think this would have been a better partnership.

"Drew & Whitney - Cha Cha"

Ugh, ugh, ugh! Why?

Song: ???

Horrible, horrible choreography. Yuck.

Scores: 8+8+9+8=33

(While he did better than Candice, I still think that was over scored. No idea where that 9 came from.)

Not the greatest dance, but I thought the chemistry was pretty good between them. Maybe because she brought more humor into it.

Derick & others...

ROFLMBO!!! 6 yo DD just said, "Beefcakes!" of the topless guys.

Fancy camera work (can't believe he trusted the DWTS camera crew with that!).

"Danica & Maks - Jive"
Posted by udg on 04-07-14 at 09:57 PM
Val explains stuff. Maks says, "Just do it." Danica asks lots of questions. "Val would know the answer."

Song: Love Me Right (?)

Val manages to get in on the end of the dance.

There was a problem with the music at the beginning, but the judges didn't know that when they scored.

Julianne accuses Maks of phoning it in. Ouch!

Scores: 8+8+8+8=32

Good for you, Julianne.

PS: good to be back. Lost my password for a while.

You ain't alone. Been lurking a lot.

"Charlie & Peeta - Rumba"
Posted by udg on 04-07-14 at 10:04 PM
Song: Wildest Moments

Len says it wasn't a Rumba. Julianne & Bruno disagree. Carrie Ann agrees with Len: not really a Rumba.

Scores: 7+8+9+9=33

Gotta go with Len and Carrie Ann on this one. That was no rumba.

"Amy & Mark - Salsa"
Posted by udg on 04-07-14 at 10:10 PM
Amy feels like she's leading. Mark gets advice from Derrick.

Song: ??? But the vocals were really bad.

IDK. I didn't like it, but maybe it would be better with the music off? The music was really bad.

Her ring got stuck in her hair.

Scores: 9+8+8+9=34

(Julianne says she messed up?)

"Cody & Sharna - Foxtrot"
Posted by udg on 04-07-14 at 10:18 PM
Two Ozzies! (OMG! He's only a year older than my son!)

Song: I'm Yours

Sound issues at the beginning.

Carrie Ann comments on his arms, and I noticed that, too.

Scores: 8+7+8+8=31

This was mixed for me. I agree on the holds and such, but the times they danced separately was like pure silk.

"Nene & Derrick - Jazz"
Posted by udg on 04-07-14 at 10:26 PM
Song: Grown Woman

Scores: 8+8+8+8=32

Meh.

Song: Too Close

I liked that!

Scores: 10+9+10+10=39

Amazing! If she was teamed up with Val, there would be no contest.

I think one of the things this showed tonight was that there were some partnerships that came out better this time around.

I think whoever ended up with Val would have come out ahead of their original partnership. ;) I found it interesting that with Maks's reputation, Val seemed to think he was "meaner" than his brother this week.

Derrick really struggles when he's given an older and less physically fit parner. Moreso than some of the other guys, IMO.

I agree that Cheryl with James was a nice switch. Whitney is the weakest of the females dancers in addition to being the most annoying.

Thanks for all the recapping udg!

I've really been enjoying this season. I had taken the past several seasons off (too many boring nobodies who weren't good dancers) but this season is a lot of fun!

I don't think Maks is easygoing at all.....

I think Julianne is out of line. To accuse a professional who has worked hard their entire life on their craft of phoning it in is probably the biggest insult you can give them.... I saw no evidence of it. You can accuse Maks of being a jerk, insensitive, etc....but I don't think phoning it in is it. Plus, Mark is Derek Hough's best friend. I wonder how Mark feels about this.
