"What is up with George?"

OK I might be missing something here but why oh why are the judges giving so much praise to George Hamilton. Is he a pretty good dancer and I just don't see it or is because they like him? Last night (1/19/06) and the previous week he had some bright spots but other times he seems like he is just standing there making faces (I know he has some injuries). Now I know he's better then Master P but Last night I think others did better but got lesser scores. Also I thought the Men did one Dance and the Women did the other but George and Lisa got switched last night? Why come? If he can't do the dances the others are required to do should he be in this compitition(sp)? Just curious.

The judges humor George, because he "PLAYS" the part. The judges make note that he is "master of illusion" and not the best dancer, just looks the part & gets people into what he's doing.

The dance switchup, I would venture a guess, is because George physically could not handle the Jive. In previous shows, George's numerous physical ailments were made known and he's not exactly a spring chicken, so for safety reasons I think it was nice that they allowed him to do the Tango (more suited for him). Besides, it looked like the switch really helped Lisa out, too. She probably would have done poorly at the Tango, yet did well with the Jive.

I think that George is really fun to watch whenever he is on camera, however, he is not really doing much dancing. His partner is more the illusion expert. George stands still a lot and his partner dances around him with a lot of flair and flash. I also was wondering about why he did the tango. This show seems as if it makes rules up as it goes along. If there are rules about lifts which they all should know about, then there should be deductions taken. And if a winner is decided, no matter the backlash, then they should stick with that person and not have that silly dance off.

it's one heck of a ratings winner for ABC though.
