Pamela was moved to the girls side and was named PM.

The task was to go to QVC and sell a product and whoever made the most money from sales wins.

Pamela was acting like an authoritarian, dictating what everyone was doing, yet not taking a specific task for herself.

i'm not so sure - she whipped that group in shape in a very short time...she had to be the way she was because of all that infighting that group has a history of -- eg. when Jennifer C was fired -- they celebrated for a moment then they turned on each other - Ay Carumba! keep it business like - not personal...

I think it like 250 units to 650 units, but the grill was about 2-1/2 times more. It was obviosly close.

>so much for the spoiler that the guys lose.

Argh, apparently this comes down to an assumption that the team that sold more units was the winning team. The exact text we reported at the time was:

The women's team, tasked with selling a cleaning set, sold more than the men's group, which was tasked with selling a panini maker. Producers took the unusual step of removing all the guests names from the production records, but the video tape lives on....

...the women did sell far more units than the men -- the problem is that it turned out the winner wasn't based on units sold but instead based on revenue (which is bogus btw -- what is this, dotcom retail lessons -- it's not about the REVENUE, it's all about the PROFIT!)

"RE: Episode 5 Discussion---"
Posted by Lisapooh on 10-07-04 at 10:21 PM
yeah - I bet the women made a lot more profit. The cost per piece is probably next to nothing and there's no packaging to speak of either. The markup on the grill couldn't be as high.

Would love to see the margins on this task.

"RE: Episode 5 Discussion---"

Absolutely profit should have been the motive, but in that case the products should have been similar so that costs pricing etc. made the difference in who won the task. Obviously the mark up on a cleaning product could be much higher than on an appliance.

Well technically, all of the women (except Pamela) have been to the boardroom four times now, but it's the amount of times the PM drags them back in to face the 'firing squad' that counts more. In that sense, Stacy's only been there twice (last week and tonight). From what I recall from last year, no one has survived three 'firing squad' visits, so if the women lose again and Stacy gets brought back, my money's on her to take the down elevator.

Another amazing boardroom! Pamela never even got to speak a complete sentence. She was constantly interrupted by Stacy R especially, and Maria, too. Amazing! Maria and Stacy once again took control of the boardroom, just took it away from Donald and his henchpeople, and they let them! Not once did anyone ask please to not interrupt, please wait, they will get they own turn to speak, etc. Donald & Co. just went right where the interrrupter wanted to take them. Who would have thought that rude, interrupting, and literal finger pointing could be so rewarding?...

LAST EDITED ON 10-07-04 AT 11:12 PM (EST)

Stacy R is so irritating and catty. She always gets in the way of the task at hand. She has a tendency to fight with the PM. She whines and complains about her task instead of getting it done. She wasted a lot of Pam’s time. Instead of working with Pam, Stacy R chose to argue with her on minor details. For example, Stacy R wasted a lot of time with the labels on the bottles, and no time on pricing. Pam had to take over her job at the last minute.

This team did not lose because of Pamela’s leadership skills. Pam was brought into the team to teach Apex how to focus and put aside their petty differences. This team lost because Pamela had to micromanaged Stacy R and Maria.

I totally disagree with Trump’s decision to fire Pamela. Pamela brought the right people into the boardroom. She brought in the two most incompetent people for this task. Pamela had a short time to assess their skills and assigned tasks. She mostly had to rely on them to tell her the truth about their abilities. Maria and Stacy R assured Pamela they were more than qualify do the job assigned to them. Unfortunately, for Pamela this was not the case.

On the other hand, the men’s team keeps winning because they are collaborative. Once a decision is made they all fall in line and carry out their assigned roles. They don’t continue to argue or challenge the PM at every step.

"RE: Episode 5 Discussion---"
Posted by anotherkim on 10-07-04 at 11:03 PM
I thought Trump was totally unfair to Pamela when he was berating her for not assessing her team's strengths. She had been with them for a matter of HOURS while the men's team was together for days? How was that even remotely "fair" (as if it had to be?)? He threw her into an almost unwinnable situation that she almost eeked out. That's the cruelty of this game, though. You never know when your number will be up. Pamela might have saved herself if she'd been able to contain Little Stacy and her own ego, but that obviously wasn't happening.

Miscellaneous Ramblings
--IMO, she should have been immune from firing in the interest of fairness.

"RE: Episode 5 Discussion---"
Posted by djandy on 10-07-04 at 11:37 PM
Pamela would have been fired sooner or later due to her poor people skills and insensitivity (making fun of kids at Mattel, dog poop ice cream). I agree that Trump shouldn't have used the reasoning that she didn't properly assess her team's strengths, he should have said he fired her for the pricing or her autocratic leadership style. However, I couldn't have cared less which of the 3 went tonight because they'll all be fired soon anyway.

I totally agree. She was a social buffoon. And it's the Donald's call, so who's to say what the criteria will be from one week to the next.

Th extended boardroom will be interesting. I imagine that there will be even more that points to an obvious Pamela firing.

"RE: Episode 5 Discussion---"
Posted by Loree on 10-08-04 at 04:14 PM
Oh I agree. Pamela had not been working with the women. How was she to know who to assign to each task. She asked them and they told her their strengths. Then they didn't perform well and Trump blamed Pamela. The way he made her be PM again did seem like he wanted her to fail so he could boot her. Between Maria's blinking and Stacy's attitude. They didn't have a chance. Hopefully Stacy and Maria are the next 2 booted.

"RE: Episode 5 Discussion---"

I think Stacy and Maria were kept on because they make good television.

On a related note -- for the first time tonight I noticed those glass teleprompter things on the board room table, like the kind they use for politicians to read speeches, right in front of carolin. Did anyone else catch that? Is some of their dialogue scripted? if so who is writing the script?
