Yes, there are lots of things that I see that could warrant medical attention. First of all, that is the medic that examines Tai's wound...pics from the tease at the beginning of the season....when the medic says: "the infection can destroy it in a matter of hours"



Also, note that Tai is in his bathing suit when the medic arrives...

There are a lot of wounds that look like staph infections to me already! Here is Joe's leg....clearly a staph infection...infected bites, perhaps. Note, the wound on his arm above his elbow, but that wound looks like it's healing well.

Next are Neal's legs...

Another infected (Staph) bug bite.

Ha ha! Obviously Cydney is braiding Jason's hair in that photo as he is wearing his red tank top.

Also, I forgot to mention that the bandage Neal had on his right leg in Episode 5

was NOT visible in Episode 6 nor in Episode 7

I think Tai's wound looks good in the hammock shot, it looks like it's healing to me, and I am beginning to question if that wound takes him out or not.

I am beginning to be a little suspect of Joe and Neal, however.

Jason is fine with the shoulders, I never thought he was in contention for medivac....sun burn.

Julia's legs look like fresh bites, they don't look infected to me.

I think that is Cydney's body in the background doing Debbie's hair, it's just blurry so it looks like a beard. fwiw.

Whoever starts to spike a fever at night will be the one that gets evacuated...duh.

That is Cydney standing up on the Left doing someone's hair who is wearing Red strapped shirt and appears to have a beard and Scot on the Right. That person Cydney is working on is definitely Jason wearing his Red tank top. That is not Debbie.

I believe Cydney works on Debbie and then she does Jason's hair. You can see Jason's hair is braided/tied up on the new Preview video.

Peter said in his post-game interviews that both he and Liz were flown back to the U.S. to have surgery -- based on this, I'd say that the entire Brains tribe are at a high risk of developing staph infections and the medic/Jiffy are there to monitor things on that front because of the merge, they'd want to make sure the staph infection doesn't spread. They'd also be monitoring Tai (and his scrapes) and Scot as well as these two were with the three Brains after the tribal swap.

Comparing the picture below with the shot of them at the end of the last promo, I think they are in the same position. Tai could be just out of frame holding the chicken, then Debbie, Michele, I think if you look closely, you can see the blue from Aubry's shorts behind Neal, she's sitting on that other stump in front of Nick, but behind Neal, then Nick behind Neal....Julia's out of frame, as is Scot, Joe, and Jason. Cydney is probably behind or next to Jason, out of the frame. (She was doing his hair...)


Uh-oh is right. Jiffy leaves them with the last statement, once again the game has changed. Will they take someone out this afternoon?

I think what Pepe suggests is very viable. The staph could have been picked up at the brains tribe area...Impetigo, staph, is very, very contagious too.

Clearly, Liz had a bad case of staph. Peter, after being voted out was found to have it as well. I agree with Pepe, that the doctor is coming to examine the rest of them. Neal and Joe could have a form of it. Can't discount Aubry or Debbie either....I am most concerned about Neal....he looks like he has a wide spread rash all over his legs as well...? Look at the difference in how his legs appear in these two frames...

then, later....

Neal could be the medical evacuation....?

They will examine Tai's wound healing. If Jiffy says "once again" the game has changed, makes me think that Neal is out, and perhaps Tai later? Or Joe?

This picture looks like its from a different day. I don't see anyone on the boat that looks like this medic. Plus his legs don't look banged up yet. FloPo did speculate in the Evac thread that Joe could be an evacuation due to infection.

Well, if the doc came to examine one of them, it sure looks like it would be Neal since he is sitting in front of everyone. Jeff would have come in, asked Neal to step forward and to sit on that stump for the doctor to look at his leg.

We can eliminate all those sitting in the back like Nick, Michelle, Julia, Scot and Jason.

We can learn a lot by looking at the press images and the timeline.

IC arrival on 4/17 ~ 9:25
9:42 ~ they are all seen competing in the IC in the first round
11:29 ~ they are all back at camp
2:00pm ~ Medical and Jiffy seen arriving by boat
2:01 ~ Jiffy and Medical are seen at camp with all of the DAWS, they are in their positions with Neal in front on the stump. I think that this is the positioning they were in when he arrived, so I don't necessarily think they came to just examine one of them.

Here is the shot taken at 2:01, when he and medic first arrive...

I listened to RHAP a few days ago and Peter told Rob he had infections on his hand and on his back. He had to go to the hospital and required surgery as well. His hand was so bad he couldn't hold a machete. He said, he felt sick, that he was "septic" on the day of his removal. That means the infection had spread systemically...I am sure that they cleaned him up a lot on removal and started him on antibiotics right away, then sent him for surgery at the larger city. Clearly, this is a virulent strain of Staphylococcus. So, considering that the two people from the Brains tribe that had been removed both were sick with infection and needed to be seriously treated, I think that medical has requested to examine them all.

This is the shot that is concerning, and this is Jiffy at 2:23....

Especially, when you consider it along with his final words..."Once again, the game has changed..."

Really sounds like he is taking someone out of the game here, to me. Most likely it would be either Neal or Joe. So, will there not be a TC if someone is evacuated?

Remember someone will still be evacuated at night, due to an infection...

If we look at picture #31 when Scot says: "Jeff's here" we see that he, Julia and Nick are seated in the exact same position as when we have the group shot. Neal is sitting in front at that point. However, in picture #29, we see that Neal is standing next to Aubry and, judging by the trees they could very well be behind everyone else. So Neal and Aubry sat when the doc got there (but not everyone else did) and they may even have stepped forward. In that Press Image group a 2:01pm it is interesting to note the body language. Medic and Jeff both have their hands on their hips and Jeff appears to be looking off into the distance. He is NOT looking at the group sitting there in front of him. And the group is NOT looking at Jeff. Neal is turned in the other direction. Aubry and Nick appear to be looking out into the ocean and/or at the boat. Tai is holding the chicken and looking sad? Only Debbie is facing toward Jeff but is not engaged in eye contact with him.

Peter says he infection was not a Staph infection. He says when he got to Ponderosa he grabbed a knife and started cutting open all of his infected wounds. And it sounds like they flew him home to the US for the surgery on his hands, arms, shoulders.

I agree Medical probably wants to examine everyone.

Could they have decided that both Gondol and Chan Loh camps have too high a risk for further infection and decide to move them all to the Brawn old camp and that's the change in the game?

Good points there, michel and Sheldor. Does appear that Aubry and Neal were standing when Jeff was arriving on the boat, I was just going by the times we had with the press images.

Shocking to me that they did not have a staph infection. There are many virulent strains, think MRSA, and most skin infections are indeed Staphylococcus infections. Once more, the staph infections are indeed very contagious. But, Peter, as a doctor would want to know what kind of an infection it was, and of course they would have been cultured. Some plant thorns can give you wicked infections, fungal and such. And some insect bites can be horrible, notoriously spider bites can lead to cellulitis.

Well, as far as moving them all to the Brawn camp, I highly doubt that, when we know that some one will be evacuated at the Beauty camp at night coming up.

And, they used all three sites in Second Chances. They wouldn't reuse those camps if they thought there was some kind of contaminant at one of them...

I have to think of the water as well. We know that Debbie drank from it, and she's fine, lol. But, these people are getting infected wounds or cuts, and that's what makes me think that it is most likely Staph.

You are right, at night, Jiffy asks, "You are pulling him from the game?" I am the one ASSuming that it is indeed for an infection. Logically, for me, it's most likely an infection.

Staph infections can also be acquired by bathing in contaminated water. If the Brain tribe camp was located nearby where a fresh water stream empties into the salt water of the ocean, that water could/would carry the bacteria responsible for the infections. Usually originating in upstream animal fecal matter.

At some point the salt water will neutralize and dilute those organisms, but if our heroes swim, soak, and wash themselves too near those mini-estuaries, they could very well pick up those infections where they have insect bites. And, as you pointed out, those insects might also be the vectors for the bacteria.

Remembering that picture of Darnell. If they are pooping in the ocean and swimming in that, well, that's another possible source of infectious bacteria.

As to spider bites, I was bit while I slept one night. I strongly suspect that it was a spider, and he bit me four times traveling in an arc on my side. About a half inch dia. circle of flesh rotted at each location, and it was over a half a year before it healed. Still have scars. I hate spiders. I'll leave the garden ones alone, but inside spiders will die.

To expand upon what Sheldor said from Peter's interview with the Survivor Fans podcast: Joe's finger infection was just the tip of the ice burg. Peter was very worried about Joe all season because of his age and how he was reacting to the environment (dehydration) and then he got all the infections on top of that. He also said Neal had an infection and implied that Aubry and Debbie did not. I'm inclined to think that Joe is the evac this week. It changes "everything." Well not everything, just the brains game in general and Debbie's game in particular! Neal is also a candidate for evacuation but due to the multiple infections and Joe's age, I think Joe will be pulled first. I agree that Tai's scrapes seem to be healing.

I went and listened to the podcast and understandably, he was more concerned about Joe because of his age. But, it was in regard to dehydrating quicker and in regard to fractures. The older you are the more porous your bones are, so he was concerned for Joe scaling all of the obstacles in challenges. When the interviewer asked about Joe's finger infection he said that was related to what he had and what Liz had. He said it nailed him and it nailed Neal as well.

He said that he didn't have Staph, but he didn't culture it, he didn't want to know. So, sounds like he didn't know what he had. But, clearly, it was at the Brains site.

So, I take this that it confirms that both Joe and Neal had what he and Liz had. So, one of them OR both of them are leaving the game due to infection. Looking more and more like Tai may NOT be medivac'd as previously was thought?

It's a flip of the coin for me as to who goes. The one that feels sick or has a fever is likely the one that will be removed...but wouldn't be surprised if one leaves that day, and the other leaves at night...?

What's more interesting is that we see all 11 make it to the IC so the medical visit probably results to nothing. They wouldn't pull someone for preventive measures just hours before a TC. Is there any sighting of the necklace during the doc's house call?

The time stamps state that the first day of the cycle was 4/15. We see nuChanloh wake up that morning and they get a visitor on a boat that brings a message. The message tells them to pack everything up and go with them. We see them arrive at nuGondol. We also see them painting their new banner and we see a merge feast.

The next day, 4/16, we have pictures of them from 7:58 AM to 9:41 AM.

Then, the last day of the cycle, 4/17, we see this at 8:54 AM.

Then, we see them at the challenge apparatus at 9:03 AM.

And, Jiffy is welcoming them as he stands next to the IN that is covered, at 9:25 AM...

Then, here they all are looking at him from the mat, where they see Jiffy, and the IN, and we can also see the challenge apparatus behind them, at 9:30 AM.

This is definitive proof that they are NOT doing the challenge they posted at CBS. They are clearly doing the one shown in the press images with the time stamps. (Sheldor noted that there were only 10 spots in the challenge they posted for episode 7....doh.)

Then, according to the press image time stamps, they are all seen back at camp...by 11:29 AM. Jiffy arrives at 2:00PM the same day, AFTER the IC. He is seen looking serious at 2:23 PM.

Then, as he leaves, he says, "once again the game has changed." Or, at least he presumably says that as he leaves, we cannot know for sure exactly when he says that.

It's logical that since 2 brains that have left the game had serious infections that most likely needed antibiotics as well as surgery that he would bring a medic to check everyone out. We do think we hear that same medic, that is shown with Jiffy this week, stating....Medic: The infection can destroy it in a matter of hours.. The medic says this during the day.

He was pictured along with Tai's leg. But, Tai's leg could be misdirection, to cover for the other skin/wound infection people.

The reason I think Neal's infection looks the worst is that the reddened area around the infection is the largest. The circumference of the red area is most concerning. If he were home, they would mark the perimeter of the redness to see if it was spreading. But, if Joe has multiple little "pimple" like infections in multiple areas of his body, that could be very alarming as well. And, do any of them have a fever or feel sick? As Peter did on the day of his removal? That is a sign that it is indeed systemic, or as Peter noted, septic. I suppose we cannot discount Tai's wound either. But, it looks like it's healing to me. And, with healing there would be some redness, but it looks like healing red, not pussy, inflamed red....fwiw.

Possible evacuees: Neal, Joe, Tai. But, really, let's face it, we didn't have an inkling that Liz or Peter were sick with infections prior to their boot. It could be ANY of them. I just think that Peter noting 2 out of 2 brains that left the game and had infections and surgery, is foreshadowing, most likely it will be a brain. So, I suppose we could throw Aubry and Debbie in there as well.

I think they are touting something showing us Jiffy and Medical coming to camp AFTER the IC, and then leaving with, "Once again the game has changed". Why would they show us this if they did NOT take someone out? If they don't remove someone in the afternoon, it could be later that night?

Sheldor, agree with you that Tai would seem to be the favorite on this. I could also see Cydney, Michele and Debbie doing well. Based on the IC vid caps, Jason seems to be surprisingly steady and still standing straight-on (like Tai). He has the arm strength (not sure about the balance) and might figure he's a merge target, so I could see him persevering on this too.

Michel, I don't see the necklace anywhere in the doc visit photos, but the time stamps indicate it's post IC. If they've realized by this point that both Peter and Liz needed surgery because of a contagious infection, per Pepe's speculation / post-game interviews, then they'd really have no choice but to check everyone and pull someone if necessary.

Joe's legs look very nasty in the merge feast shot. Between his head injury last week and his prior injury (finger?), not to mention his age, I think he's a likely med vac suspect in addition to Neal (legs) and Tai, but I'm not up on the pre-season medvac speculation or vidcaps.

I do find it weird that they're not hyping a medvac more if it's going to happen this episode. And no one seems especially concerned or hurt when Jeff shows up….but there appears to be a 20-min time gap between when Jeff shows up and his close-up at the end.

FloPo, from a medical perspective, what could they do in that 20 min time period? Would they be taking blood samples of everyone? Or just a physical check of wounds? Now that they're all staying at the same camp, would everyone potentially be in danger of having the infection, or just those who were at camp with Peter or Liz? Would they possibly segregate people in any way in terms of sleeping arrangements?

Independent of any medvac or new game-changer, my gut would say Nick is the most likely merge boot because of his sudden spike last episode, plus he's a potential challenge threat and we already saw the girls (Michele and Debbie) are weary of him.

If I'm the Brains tribe, my best move is to eliminate a Beauty, and vice versa. Brawn has a choice of which way to go, but the shot of the 2 Beauty girls with them in the Hut is very interesting, and we know Scot is already allied with Tai and will try to get the Super Idol thing going. Jason might feel getting rid of Nick allows him to control the Beauty girls and Tai and set up an equal 3-3 alliance that would have the numbers over the Brains.

ETA: Cydney could play a pivotal role as a go-between -- braiding Debbie's hair, wooing the Beauty women, etc. I worry for Debbie disclosing too much to Michele and/or Cydney about wanting to go after Jason, but perhaps I'm off base on this.

I suspect they are examining everyone, and cleaning wounds up if they can. I wouldn't be surprised if they cultured a few oozing wounds....Joe and Neal. Perhaps, Tai's. I think they wouldn't take any blood samples, but they sure could take their temperatures. And, assess them for fever, chills, malaise, etc.

Depending on what the bug is that is causing the infection, it could indeed be very contagious. They have to consider this, as 2 out of 2 brains had it. They could segregate them...They will most likely talk to them about hygiene out in the wild...soaking those wounds in salt water is a great thing to do...hot packs to the wounds that appear infected would be another good thing to do. Etc.

FWIW, Stephen Fishbach has said they were warned to not spend a lot of time in the water - maybe that is where they think the staph originated? Hard to soak your wounds if the salt water is dirty!
