That the three women on a tribe of professional people would assume that one of the women was going is almost unbelievable. They could have forced a tie or threw Joaquin under the bus, creating doubt on his loyalty at the very least. Some high powered thinking from that bunch.

Max really wanted to work with two weak girls. That was sort of his strategic gameplay from the very beginning.

If Max's plan was common knowledge at that point I really think the white collar women are toast. They're being led to Losers Lodge without a fight.

I wonder if they gave Carolyn a good first episode edit because she found the idol while the other corporate brain trust couldn't despite everyone apparently knowing about the clue except for Tyler and Carolyn.

I had some of the savviest players that have probably ever been cast, so that’s what I was up against.

That's it. My Mom told me if you can't say anything nice about someone then don't say anything.

Once we got back to camp, I actually did tell Shirin about it. She did know about the clue, and that was my way of telling her, "Don't worry. You and I will work together. I trust you and you can trust me. I'm showing this to you because I want you to know that you can trust me... Everybody already knew about the clue."

Brains are back!

I especially like Mr.Holmes' Word associations.
Here are Vince's...
Holmes: Alright, word association time…
Sly: Oh boy…
Holmes: I know. Let’s start with Nina.
Sly: Kind…subtle…(laughs).
Holmes: There are no wrong answers here.
Sly: Word association is hard. There are things that come up like, “insecure.” Nina is insecure, however I don’t need to talk crap about people who in the real world I really care about. In the game Nina was insecure, that’s obvious.
Holmes: Well, it doesn’t have to be negative. And I call it word association, but use all the words you need.
Sly: The gameplay characters? I wanted to (expletive deleted) tear Joe’s head off in the (expletive deleted) game. But in real life he’s like my little brother. I want to take him to festivals and introduce him to a world where people embrace each other and truly accept each other for what they are. In game vs. out game? Are you asking about their characters in general?
Holmes: The first thing that pops into your head when you hear their name.
Sly: OK. Nina shines joy through her smile.
Holmes: Jenn?
Sly: Quirky, whimsical, doesn’t give a (expletive deleted).
Holmes: Hali?
Sly: Cute, has a mysterious depth that she only shares with those who get really close.
Holmes: Joe?
Sly: Fun, playful, talented, and immature.
Holmes: We’ll finish off with Will.
Sly: (EXPLETIVE DELETED) WILL!
Holmes: (Laughs)
Sly: I’m just kidding. (Laughs) Will is a devoted, charismatic, family man.

and So's...
Holmes: OK, word association time. Let’s start with Shirin.
Kim: Delusional schizophrenic…oh, that’s so awful.
Holmes: Too late. Joaquin?
Kim: Loyal to a fault.
Holmes: Carolyn?
Kim: The funniest woman I’ve ever met.
Holmes: Tyler?
Kim: A politician to the core.
Holmes: Max?
Kim: Max is a bit sociopathic.
Holmes: And let’s finish with Malcolm.
Kim: (Laughs)
Holmes: He told me to do this.
Kim: (Laughs) Malcolm is my guy. He’s great. You know what? I may have been the first one voted out. But I ultimately won because I got to meet a great guy like Malcolm.
Holmes: I told him this interview was going to be tough because I’d be so jealous of you.
Kim: (Laughs) Aww…he’s the best.

"RE: Vince"
Posted by tribephyl on 03-06-15 at 01:04 PM
Nina finding the HI ploy is a figment of Vince's imagination. In hopes of splitting the votes of Joe/Jenn/Hali.
That part worked, as the trio did indeed split votes.
Probably the one and only strategically sound thing Vince attempted.
But promises be made in assurance that Nina does NOT actually have an idol. Hidden or otherwise.

"RE: Vince"
Posted by dabo on 03-07-15 at 05:41 PM
Confusion in the RTVW edit, '"fake idol" campaign' should have read 'fake "idol campaign."'

Campaigning that someone has a "fake idol" is different from trying to fake out others that someone has an idol.

The one thing Vince fails to realize is that the trio of Joe, Jenn and Hali didn't need to be broken. If he wasn't jealous of Joe then he could have ridden with that trio safely until the swap. Despite his disclaimer, his behavior proved that he was jealous. He blames a bad edit but then he avoids talking about his conversation where he told Joe that he needed recognition.

Cochran is doing interviews for CBS.com this year. I guess to replace Survivor Live?

John Cochran interview with Nina

The thing that I noticed most about this interview (if Nina is telling the truth about Joe's behavior) is that Joe got a very careful edit around his treatment of her. He wasn't associated with Hali and Jenn when they weren't nice to her and he got to apologize to his tribe when his "strategy" in the last immunity challenge didn't work. It seems he was concerned that her hearing would hurt their team but instead we saw him talk about his mom working with the deaf community and knowing sign language. Nice spin!

yeahhhhh...no.
No real spoilers there.
He is the last of the pre-merge boots to visit Ponderosa before going off on a mini-vacay with the other losers.
Ponderosa will soon become jury house, so the fact that he admits he doesn't see Mike or Carolyn or Tyler from this point forward means nothing.
His only "slip" was he said that Tyler will do just fine.
The context of which being Tyler's abilities of lasting awhile even though he is in a minority.
YMMV with that tidbit.

"RE: Joaquin"
Posted by PepeLePew13 on 03-27-15 at 10:28 PM
The other potential spoilerish tidbit was that Joaquin told us that Mike and Joe were really tight with each other, more than what it appeared on TV. This might provide some clues as to how groupings will work after the merge.

"RE: Joaquin"
Posted by CTgirl on 03-27-15 at 10:41 PM
He also might have slipped and said who the next boot is.

I put the warning in because people on another site (that is spoiler free) are complaining that he said too much. It probably doesn't matter here anymore.

Which interview was this slip in?

"RE: Joaquin"
Posted by tribephyl on 03-28-15 at 10:33 PM
Actual RTVW Interview
Part of the response to the first question.
Mess Speculation

A little embarrassing we didn't pick up on this. Then again, it does say "When we got back...". Depends on if you think whether it's when they came back to the states OR when they got to Ponderosa.
The only way they'd meet (aside from endgame flight home) is if the jury is only 8 members with a final 3 (or an F2 with 9 jurors). I guess, possible. Not likely though. Unless someone has some statistics on this.

"RE: Joaquin"
Posted by Outsider32 on 03-29-15 at 02:04 AM
I know who you are talking about. But honestly, I can't say anything here so I will go to SOTS and talk about this.

"RE: Joaquin"
Posted by CTgirl on 03-29-15 at 09:47 AM
He spoils that the merge boot doesn't make jury too. In the Examiner interview he talks about being bummed about being so close to making merge and finding out about it from the next person sent to Loser Lodge. The next bootee gets Corinned!

Also I have to note some more funny Survivor math - he keeps on talking about how there were 5 red collars left as one of the reasons he wanted to get rid of Joe. LOL.

"RE: Joaquin"
Posted by PepeLePew13 on 03-29-15 at 01:58 PM
Heh. It wouldn't surprise me if that's funny math from Joaquin and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he sees Shirin as a true 100% No Collar, rather than as a White Collar.

"RE: Joaquin"
Posted by Corvis7 on 03-30-15 at 09:56 AM
This is the bit from the Examiner interview where it appears that he spoils that the next person misses the jury.

Tom Santilli: When you found out you missed the merge by only a few days, was that like salt in the wound?

Joaquin: Yeah, it really was. You know you go back to Ponderosa and then they send the next person up and you find out you were just hours away from hitting the merge and being reunited with Carolyn. To miss the next step of playing in individual challenges, that's something that I would have thrived at, obviously. I was a challenge beast out there. That really did hurt. It really did. But that's all right, there's nothing you can do about it.

I guess I'm not convinced that necessarily means that the next person doesn't make the jury. I know the jury and pre-jury boots are separated, but couldn't there be a brief overlap where the last non-jury member sees the first jury member?

If the next person misses the jury, that means that there's 11 people remaining so a Final 3 would have 8 jurors - have they done that before? A final 2 would have 9, but we know Probst hates Final 2s. I think it's far more likely either Joaquin saw the first jury member briefly before leaving or he is just talking in a general sense rather than about his specific circumstances.

"RE: Joaquin"
Posted by tribephyl on 03-31-15 at 01:10 AM
You know you go back to Ponderosa and then they send the next person up and you find out you were just hours away from hitting the merge

The next person goes "up" and Joaquin finds out he just missed the merge.
Also, knowing that he and all the previous losers are leaving on vacay but no one else past him, means he's the last before the merge.
Many ways to do the math, without having to actually run into the next player booted.

Yes, they have done that before. In fact the last 5 seasons have had 11 people remaining after the last non-Juror was "sent up" to Ponderosa...

4 seasons with a Final 3 and 8 Jurors
1 season with a Final 2 and 9 Jurors:

S25 8 Jurors + Final 3 (6–1–1 Denise-Lisa-Skupin)
S26 8 Jurors + Final 3 (8-0-0 Cochran-Dawn-Sheri)
S27 8 Jurors + Final 3 (7-1-0 Tyson-Monica-Gervase)
S28 9 Jurors + Final 2 (8-1 Tony-Woo)
S29 8 Jurors + Final 3 (5-2-1 Natalie-Jaclyn-Missy)

"But, no, no, no. I got back and ..."

I completely interpreted that as when they got back in the USA and that he never got to know Kelly until then.

"I got back" implies that he got back to a familiar place (i.e. home) and the average person wouldn't use 'back' when they're going to Loser Lodge.

Even if it could be true, I'm simply not seeing where Kelly could be a merge boot because of her positioning with the old Nagarotes and still being friends with several key Blue Collars, plus much bigger fish to fry in the new merged tribe.

"RE: Joaquin"
Posted by michel2 on 03-29-15 at 06:22 PM
That leads to the question: Why would it be only Kelly telling him if it was when they got back to the States?
The answer could be that htey're both from New York so it's possible she was the only one there to tell him or that she was simply the first to tell him.

As for being a merge boot, Kelly could be the one to go if the others realize that the challenge was thrown to save her or if she starts showing concussion symptoms.

"RE: Joaquin"
Posted by Flowerpower1 on 03-30-15 at 08:39 AM
Kelly could also be booted for the same reason Joaquin was....because she's part of a "power couple"...

"RE: Joaquin"
Posted by CTgirl on 03-30-15 at 10:48 AM
...And they're afraid Mike has an idol.

Kelly is from Grand Island, NY - that's between Buffalo and Niagara Falls. Joaquin is from Long Island. I doubt they would have bumped into each other in NY!

"RE: Joaquin"
Posted by Corvis7 on 03-30-15 at 09:58 AM
I agree that this doesn't spoil Kelly as the next boot.

"RE: Joaquin"
Posted by mimo on 04-03-15 at 11:15 AM
Hindsight is 20-20. I only just read the interview and was shocked that he had mentioned Kelly (especially since they had been on completely separate tribes and thus would not have built up a relationship that would lead them to hang out once back in the US.) His survivor math skills are pretty impressive too. I guess White Collars don't need to count….

Re: Tyler...hmmmmm, sounds like he had opportunities that he didn't take and it ends up biting him! Too little too late! Coulda, woulda, shoulda...
Sierra... What to make of this? Does it underline that someone who flips wins, or is she still just underlining the point she was trying to make at TC? Will Sierra flip and land in the F3, or someone else?

"RE: Hali"
Posted by suzzee on 04-13-15 at 01:58 PM
I thought her interviews were some of the most coherent of anyone eliminated so far. You can really appreciate someone that is self aware, intelligent and able to express her thoughts so well. She said somewhere that Rodney was the most underestimated and I hope we get to see why she thought so because there's got to be more to him than just a Boston character.

I should be watched....closely.

"RE: Hali"
Posted by michel2 on 04-13-15 at 04:56 PM
I don' tthink Hali spoils anything with those two comments:

- In her RTVW interview she said she thought Tyler was a lost cause, that he'd never vote with her since he went with the Blues during Kelly's vote. She regretted crossing him off too early so I think the "Shoulda, coulda, woulda" applies to her in regards to Tyler. She should have tried more with him.

- As for Sierra, she could simply be saying that Sierra missed a golden opportunity. Hali must think that Sierra didn't flip because she was afraid that flippers couldn't win.

This is from the RTW interview:

Reality TV World: Do you think Mike's back is up against the wall now or do you think there's anything he could do to change things around?

Jenn Brown: Nope. It's too late. He's public enemy No. 1. It's just, like, what are they going to do? You know? Once everyone wanted Since Jenn knows what happens, this is making me wonder if maybe Mike doesn't win?! Based on editing, I just can't imagine any other winner. The only other person who is getting an edit that could be turned into a winner is Shirin's, with the whole underdog thing. Rodney and Dan have been shown to be vile people. And everyone else is so underdeveloped. I mean, I suppose the could ramp up Tyler's edit... but he's been so absent through all of the strategy so far that I can't see it. Of course, maybe Jenn is just saying that to make us think Mike's doomed.

"RE: Jenn"
Posted by Outsider32 on 04-24-15 at 09:57 PM
If Mike is done, Shirin has no chance. None. Those four will not take her to the end and neither would Dan. She's also not great in challenges and certainly not better than Tyler in them. I think Tyler can win but brace yourself for Rodney maybe. This might be a why Rodney loses season. Rodney despite the negativity has had a huge edit. But also, this could be his story's and not Mike's and how he loses in the end to Tyler.

But if thats the case what's the point of Dan's double vote?

"RE: Jenn"
Posted by tribephyl on 04-24-15 at 11:45 PM
I believe Jenn is being as media saavy and snarky as she usually is...and has been.
So starting with Nope. It's too late. Not gonna happen. etc. Is her way of throwing people of her trail.

In cahoots with that, we have the editing influence of wondering whether Mike makes it or not appearing to be not only in full swing but undoubtedly working to influence people into believing Mike won't actually make it to the end game, the final three, if you will. Kinda like that sentence.

Mind Fart: Although, if I were to go on record, and state some old editing patterns that pretty much told us that either Jeremy or Josh was gonna win and how they compare to the Joe and Mike ending, we will be losing Mike soon and should be looking for a 'Natalie' "typed" winner for this season... Suddenly Rodney isn't looking so bad. Of course, I say this because a Blue Collar is going to WIN this season. *toot*toot*

"RE: Jenn"
Posted by Jims03 on 04-25-15 at 00:23 AM
Yeah, we have to remember that Jenn just love love loves to mess with people. She said repeatedly during the game that she just wants to screw up other people's games. So, just knowing her personality from the show, it seems pretty likely she's just trying to mess with the media.

(Of course, with Mike's idol, we probably knew he was safe this week anyway.)

"RE: Jenn"
Posted by CTgirl on 04-25-15 at 07:23 AM
I can't post the link because I'm on my phone but check out Gordon Holmes interview with her. She was totally messing with him because she knew he was going to ask her to do the word association about the survivors. She asked him what swears he could not print and then she swore about everyone except for Hali (she said something about nature for her). Pretty funny.

It's quite possible Shirin spoiled it with the Harry Potter analogy.

Harry vs Voldemort (Mike vs Rodney)
The horcrux - needed so that Voldemart can come back (Will)
Wormtail - betrays Gryffindor (blue collar) loyal to Voldemort, brings back Voldemort (Dan)
The Malfoys - Draco's parents loyal to Voldemort. Lucius was there to witness the battle between Voldemort and Harry. Narcissa was shown at the final battle relieved that Draco was still alive. Narcissa ends up helping Harry because she wants to know if Draco is still alive. The Malfoys are considered secondary characters. Narcissa is motherly; has a heart even though she is married to Lucius. (Carolyn & Tyler)
Seamus Finnigan - originally doubted Voldemort's return, but sees the light and ends up fighting with Harry. (Sierra)

I think Carolyn and Sierra flip to Mike.

Final 3 could be: Mike, Rodney, & Sierra

Carolyn could be F4.
Tyler could be F5.
Will could be F6.
Dan could be F7.
