"Take the Money and Run"

okay, here goes nothing--my first posting on this board.

In Episode 5, Matt says that he would have taken the "get me out of here" $$ in a second. My question is, do you think he would have been given that offer? And what would the producers have done if he decided to take the money and run?

Let's review. According to the actors, all the games are fixed. Therefore Matt was meant to win the spa vacation. If we assume that Dr. Pat's fall/injury was real (sorry to all you conspiracy theorists) then Matt giving away his prize was a complete surprise. Mind you, it was a pleasant surprise for the producers, since this means another prize that doesn't have to be given out to an actual person! Later on, the host says that he forgot to mention that the prize that Matt won (and gave up) also included an offer to "take the money and run".

Now, was this Bribe Money originally part of the plan, or was it added in later as an excuse to get rid of Dr. Pat? Did the producers ever intend to give Matt the option of getting out early? Was this possibly the original reason for the Fake Network Exec plot point?

What do you think, people?

Nah,

There's no way they would make that offer to Matt. They can never risk him leaving and the show ending early.

No. They probably threw that in because Pat didn't feel like proceeding and/or she became a liability, they also jabbed Matt at the same time. Sucker punch, like, ha, ha, you could have had this but you're too nice. If you're a television exec, you immediately reach top schmoness if you're "too nice" They'd never give Matt an early out - they would be schmos by default.

I agree, but I elaborate. For one thing, they might have offered Dr Pat an out due to something in her contract. It wouldn't surprise me if there was a clause about injuries. I think another part of the reason was that they'd already put Matt through more emotional stress that day than they wanted to, so they were looking for a way to make the eviction ceremony as painless as possible. Getting rid of Hutch, while painless, wouldn't have worked for their next few scripts.

I think the bigger question is: If Matt hadn't given the prize to Dr. Pat, would the producers have rigged the votes to kick out her or someone else? Hmmmm...

I think they had it planned all along as one of the rewards. As has already been discussed around here, the producers are the same folks from "The Mole" (Stone Stanley) and on the last non-celebrity version they bribed a contestant to walk away from the game. Just another chance to spoof themselves.

They could have easily included it as a prize in a contest fixed against Matt. Instead, they decided to take advantage of Matt's generosity.

We really do have guidelines here. Believe it or not, the Guidelines make things more fun. Really.

Nope, he wouldn't have gotten that option, like everyone said. Ralph said something at the eviction ceremony about "A portion of the prize that wouldn't be revelied until now". I don't think they wanted to give him any reason to get out early. I think the fake network exec was just to try and get him to snap.

Not to seem like a jerk and point out the obvious, but Pat was already set to go. Although sometimes the producers play this game by the seat of their pants, the actors are already predestined to leave. But how exactly can you kick someone out who just got back from the hospital? No one would vote for the recently injured, poor Dr Pat. So they had to give her a believable out. No, they would not offer that to Matt. I am quite sure the producers are not that stupid.

Nah, seems like it was a way to get rid of someone else other than Hutch. If I remember correctly, Matt had the immunity robe. If they wanted to keep Hutch, they had to figure out a way to get rid of someone else without it being a vote (since Hutch was certainly the likely candidate to be booted).
