Or...The rumors of its demise have been greatly exagerated. After the events of 9.11, it seems everyone gave up on the genre. While the immediate impact of our true reality effected several shows, including TAR1 and Love Cruise, I believe reality TV is back - an stronger than ever. Just look at the variety, some of it quite good:

The "Game" Shows
Survivor:Marquesas
The Amazing Race 2
Combat Missions
No Boundries
Real World/Road Rules Challenge
Tuff Enough 2

The Pseudo-Documentaries
Real World XI - Chicago
The Osbournes
The Making of the Band

And coming soon, the return of Fear on MTV and a new season of Big Brother this summer.

Reality TV - It's better than reality, it's TV!!

Well put munson

I'd also like to mention a few more things that are "coming up"

Game Shows: I believe The Mole 2 is going to reair this summer, and I'm not sure but Fear Factor might fall into this category as well (if it's still on that is)

Pseudo-Docs: The only other one I can think of here is AFP, or whatever the pilot one is called.

Long Live RTV!

I just checked the Mole's Website for dates. There is no confirmed air date, yet, but The Mole II is definately airing in the summer. It will show all the episodes--not just the remaining ones. It will be completely re-edited: more games, less confessionals. Does anyone know if and when there will be a Mole III, and if Anderson Cooper--now on CNN Morning, will be hosting it? The Mole is alleged to be the most intelligent of Reality TV series. The Mole is my favourite Reality TV show. I can't wait for it to come back!!!

After Episode 4 of Survivor-IV and that lousy swap, I think some of these shows might be in their decline and demise faster than you think.

Dawg,

I refuse to believe that! Have faith that there are plenty of untapped and willing media whores to keep the genre alive and kicking. I look forward to the necessary evolution of the whole genre as the audience numbers continue to decline and the producers and networks become more desperate for ratings.

Anyone see the movie Series 7?

On a tangent...I was fortunate enough to attend all the NCAA regional games at the United Center last Friday/Sunday to cheer on my beloved Illini. Along the way, got to see our own little state directional school upset not only Booby Knight's Texas Tech Red Raiders but your beloved Bulldogs as well in quite a dogfight. Go Salukis! Sorry, Dawg, but it gives me great pleasure to see the underdawg do well.

Now bring on Kansas!

When one's team is ahead 30-11 and one's team is the 3d seed in the NCAA tournament, and with the SEC's leading scorer, one expects to win the game. To do otherwise is nothing short of humiliating.

I was extremely disgusted with what I saw. Not to take away from S. Illinois, they were gutsy, didn't give up (like we did) and played well. But I was still disgusted with my team. I still love 'em, but I'm disgusted with 'em.
