Segment 1 - Show Twists - Redemption Island

Parvati Shallow: Welcome to Survivor Blood vs Water preview. I'm Parvati Shallow here with Jeff Probst. This is an incredible twist this season.

Jeff Probst: All credit for the concept goes to Lynn Spillman, our casting director. She said, "I think I've got the right match-ups to do a "loved ones" scenario."

PS: Survivor is turning the game upside down by bringing back past players and pairing them with loved one. In true Survivor fashion, the teams are split and the returnees find out they are facing off against their own companions.

JP: I do think it's going to be complicated and the further the game goes and the deeper in the game you get, your choices become more important.

PS: Prior to the show open, the pairs spent the night together, making the game 39 and a half days. The first night will be called Day Zero.

JP: We had a couple of great twists. First we tell them that you're not playing with each other which we tried to convince them they were by putting them together in pairs and having them spend the night.

PS: Another huge twist was the return of Redemption Island. Two tribe members will be sent there within minutes of starting the game.

JP: Once we divide them into tribes and they realize they are playing against each other, it is Blood vs Water. Then the first big thing was to vote somebody out. So, right out of the gate, you have two people that are voted out within two minutes. The next big twist is that now that you find out you're voted out of your tribe, you're not actually out of the game. We told them that Redemption Island was in play and that meant that you would have a second chance. You would compete in duels to try to get yourself back into the game. If your loved one wants to, they can swap spots with you right now. There's another level to this, too, which is, every time there's a duel, every week, that loved one will have the chance to swap spots. There's another power shift that happens at Redemption Island. You've been voted out, you're now at Redemption Island, you have to compete in a dual to get back in the game but if you win the duel, you get to decide who gets the clue to the Hidden Immunity Idol. You can give it to anybody you want. Everybody will be there watching the duel. You can give it to somebody on your tribe. You can give it to your loved one. You can give it to your enemy. So, the power shift in this game is going to constantly be ebbing and flowing.

Segment 3 - The Art Department

Parvati Shallow: I'm at the art department with Zack (Jensen) and Jordan (Ferrer) and they're going to put me to work. What am I gonna do?

Jordan: An Immunity Idol. This is what we're making. These are the Hidden Immunity Idols for this season. Basically what we do is we take a two-part resin and put it in a mold made out of silicon. Pour that in there, mix it up. Now pour it in the mold. We will wait and let that harden.

PS: So our Idol is fully cooked?

Jordan: It is ready to go. Pop it out.

PS: It looks so official.

Jordan: So basically we just make the other side, glue them together, and then a little lick of paint to finish it off. And you've got an idol.

Segment 4 - Show Twists - Redemption Island

Parvati Shallow: Every season the press gets to take part in a challenge, facing off against Survivor dreamteamers. The dreamteamers are a select group who test out each challenge.

Jeff Probst: Alright, we are ready for our annual running, press versus dreamteam. Here we go, press, dreamteam, go!

PS: The challenge starts as we roll a teammate in a barrel to collect a series of flags. Once the flags are passed on, the remaining tribemembers have to fill 6 holes in the skeeball portion. And this time, it was a victory for the press.

PS: I am here with the rockstar producer of Survivor Challenges, John Kirhoffer. I just competed my first challenge as a member of the press. This challenge had a lot of components. Are we going to see a lot of challenges that are on the ground with different components or is there going to be water stuff?

John Kirhoffer: Well, our opening challenge is in the water. Then we have the stuff in the jungles, some stuff in the fields, a little bit of everything. Episode 3 we have some big contacts and it will be good seeing loved ones head to head bashing each other.

Segment 5 - Tribal Council

Jeff Probst: Welcome to Tribal Council.

Parvati Shallow: This doesn't look like any of my Tribal Councils. What went into making this?

JP: This is based on an Asian coastal fortress. This whole thing took about 6 weeks to build, 30 guys, working 6 days a week, which was over 1000 days. Half of the time was sinking all the stone to make everything look like it's old.

PS: There's like a million little rocks everywhere.

JP: We're at TC and I know you're not here as a contestant, you're here with the press but there is still pressure tonight. Because, when you're at Tribal Council, there is a vote. So there is going to be a vote. You can take a seat.

PS: I'm not prepared for this.

JP: Well, you should have been.

<Probst votes for Parvati>

JP: If anybody has the Hidden Immunity Idol and you want to play it, now would be the time.

PS: I'm gonna play it, Jeff.

JP: You have an idol?

PS: You think I would come to Tribal without an idol? You can check it. It's authentic.

JP: This is a Hidden Immunity Idol. Any votes cast for Parvati will not count. I'll read the vote. Parvati.

PS: Who's responsible?

JP: Me.

PS: You?

JP: I voted for you.

PS: So you get voted out? So I snuff your torch.

JP: Yep. I'll go get it. I just have to say. If it had to go down this way, I'm glad it was you.
