Appreciate all the effort in bringing the pictures over Sheldor. Looks like the strongest stomach wins, I hate all the retching I may have to mute the sound through this one.

Thanks sweetie! You brite up my world

They usually get a merge feast in place of an RC at the merge. Gross nummies challenge this time is the IC, per the promo vidcaps (Probst standing next to immunity necklace). How that works for IC and individual immunity, no idea. But they do seem to be divided into two groups at the start:

Andrea, Corinne, Eddie, Erik, Malcolm, Sherri

Brenda, Cochran, Dawn, Michael, Phillip, Reynold

(Only six places at the challenge table, no one sitting on the already lost this one bench.)

Evil of JP to fill them up with a merge feast and then throw a gross nummies IC challenge their way, evil evil evil.

How does this one work?

And Brenda fails in her round.

Could it be a repeat of Fiji somehow where the tribes are divided again after the merge? Is it possible that the six who are eating have already lost a first round and they are now competing for individual immunity before going to TC as a group of 6? Just throwing it out there because it sure looks weird.

"RE: Teams IC?"
Posted by dabo on 03-29-13 at 09:38 PM
That could explain it. But I don't think it is a loser round -- no one is sitting on the bench at this point. Brenda is included solo though not in that group uncovering their plates.

If Andrea, Corinne, Eddie, Erik, Malcolm and Sherri were the only ones going to TC, Malcolm would have to take out Sherri to keep a rein on Reynold. Unless she has II. Then it reverts to Fans v Faves and Eddie gets the boot.

If Brenda, Cochran, Dawn, Michael, Phillip and Reynold were the only ones to go to TC it again reverts to Fans v Faves but Reynold plays his idol, the Faves vote split, Michael is out on the revote. Unless he's the one with the iron stomach, or Reynold is and uses the idol for Michael (doubtful), which would put Cochran and Phillip at risk.

I was thinking more like men and women were divided randomly into two groups of 6 and they compete in 4 Rounds something like:

Round 1: Andrea, Corinne, Eddie, Erik, Malcolm and Sherri
3 fastest move on to Round 3

Round 2: Brenda, Cochran, Dawn, Michael, Phillip and Reynold
3 fastest move on to Round 3

Round 3: 3 Winners from Round 1 and 3 Winners from Round 2
3 fastest move on to Final Round 4

Round 4: 3 Winners from Round 3 compete for Individual Immunity Necklace

Note: Strange not to have 2 Immunity Necklaces (male and female) as they have in the recent seasons.

Not really all that strange. Typically there will be 2 necklaces for contests of strength so that it's not completely lopsided against the women. There are a number of challenges where it would be unfair to not distinguish between male and female.

With a gross food challenge, neither gender has an advantage, so it's fair for them to compete for 1 necklace.

I noticed Brenda's left knee is wrapped again while on the boat to Bikal's camp...

Food challenge, eh? Let's see if they feature food that I would consider "normal". The white things in the cap below kind of look like beetle larvae, which is a delicacy especially in the central islands.

So, he gives himself a 'secret' name, and then has it painted on the merge flag? Corrine is right, Phillip is the worst Federal agent ever.

And is Eric dyslectic? Because if “ENIL EDAM” isn’t meant to be “MADE LINE” or “LINE MADE”, what the heck could it mean? Is there an island variation of Edam cheese called Enil?

I kinda like his art, though.

It's Madeline backwards.

Don't forget that Erik *made up* the "Dabu" tribe name for Micronesia. Erik also painted the beautiful "Dabu" merge tribe, he is very artistic.

Maybe "ENIL EDAM" is "Madeline" backwards and someone is a fan of the group Madeline and their song "Raining in the Philippines"

These are REALLY beautiful Press Images! The Philippines looks awesome!

Lots of shots of Andrea and Brenda whatever that means...

Hmmm....the two pictures that really stick out to me are the two groups in a circle in the water. Between the two pictures, we see all but two Survivors - Brenda and Corinne. Then we see a lot of individual pictures of Brenda, but no additional pictures of Corinne after the food challenge.

We know Phillip and Corinne are feuding. We're shown pictures of Phillip interacting with the Goats, but none of Corinne. This could suggest that Phillip triumphs over Corinne. And since the first merge boots are typically strong males, it would be a blindside to go after Corinne. She is a threat to win individual ICs - she showed a lot of strength during the RC last episode.

I think these pics show Corinne as a non-entity...which could indicate that there's no more story for her in the future. She could be the boot.

There is one picture with all 12, Corinne, Dawn, Cochran, Sherri & Eric all in the background. 5 in the shade against 7 in front. All of the individual pictures, except one of Michael, are of new Gota. So many of Andrea (who wanted Corinne out), Brenda, Eddie & Sherri, that they may be key players in the blindside of Corrine.

Michael looks like not much more story for him too.

Foreground: Phillip, Malcolm, Michael, Andrea, Reynold, Dawn, and Eddie

Dawn sounds so worried when she says: "Okay, here we go again" that it almost has to be that Cochran just proposed a big move at the merge. It would be his blindside idea that makes Dawn look back at So Pathetic and worry. Malcolm?

"RE: S26 Ep8 Promo"
Posted by dabo on 03-30-13 at 09:37 PM
I would think Phillip is behind it. He wants to vote out whomever got on his bad side most recently without thinking it through. Hearing some of what went on at the Gota beach he might want Brenda or Erik or Malcolm gone for some slight. It could simply be whomever doesn't immediately go to Phillip to give their report. Or maybe Michael is supposed to be his new double agent, dutifully goes and finds out what he was supposed to find out, and reports back to Phillip with a bunch of lies designed to get Phillip steamed up. That's what I would do, fill the Specialist with a big load of disinformation, then sit back and watch the Phillip show.

"RE: S26 Ep8 Promo"

But we know that the blindside will be effective. Do you think editing would credit Phil or Cochran with a successful blindside?

"RE: S26 Ep8 Promo"
Posted by Murphy3126 on 03-31-13 at 01:13 PM
Why would either Phillip or Cochran engineer such a blindside now? If they can retain their 2 from the original alliance of 6, maybe bring in Sherri, they've got majority of 7+ to sweep out those physically strong in individual challenges. Even Phillip sounded smart enough to want to keep the alliance together until he had the votes & no longer needed her.

Corinne said "Malcolm & I have the idol". Malcolm could start trying to take control & blindside the only person that knows he has the idol. Andrea already wanted Corinne out, she would go along.

"RE: S26 Ep8 Promo"
Posted by michel on 03-31-13 at 02:00 PM
Malcolm's bro-alliance would be the reason to blindside him. Phillip would certainly see the BR logic of eliminating a strong guy that defied him by forming a counter-alliance. Cochran would be a fool to let that live if he learns about it. An alpha male alliance is toxic to nerds.

Although I'd like to see Malcolm turning on Corinne. It would be hilarious to watch such a stupid move.

"RE: S26 Ep8 Promo"
Posted by ASurvivorFan on 04-01-13 at 00:45 AM
I don't think Malcolm turned on Corinne. Corinne is a type of person to hold a grudge over a betrayal. If Malcolm did went after Corinne, they would not be so buddy buddy right now.

"RE: S26 Ep8 Promo"
Posted by dabo on 03-31-13 at 05:47 PM
I was thinking more in terms of who would get Dawn to say "here we go again" not whether it has anything to do with this week's boot story. Like Rob in RI both Cochran and Dawn are having to do a lot of work because of Phillip. He keeps making decisions on his own that they have to deal with.

Although I do think they would have been fine had they decided to boot Phillip before the merge, they can afford to keep him around as long as they keep on his good side and can stay in control. Corinne should have made her move when she had the chance, she has no guarantee she can rally the votes she would need after the merge, no idea what has been happening in Gota.

"RE: S26 Ep8 Promo"
Posted by michel on 03-31-13 at 06:06 PM
You're right. I was assuming it related to the boot story since it comes right after the mention of the blindside but it could be about Phillip again.

"RE: S26 Ep8 Promo"
Posted by Murphy3126 on 03-31-13 at 08:29 PM
Perhaps Cochran wavering & considering flipping to join Malcolm, Erik & Andrea, with Phillip & Dawn, to break up Corinne & Michael, unaware of Malcolm's bro-alliance. Cochran wavering & flipping would be a no, here we go again moment!

We see Andrea, who wants Corinne out, hanging with Cochran in 2 different scenes. Cochran, more than anyone out there, even Michael, would know Andrea is just playing him & he maybe thinks he can use that to his advantage. (Been there, done that ... failed!)

Announcer: Wednesday, the merge is time for a celebration feast.

Jeff Probst (at Gross Food Immunity Challenge): Let's see what you're eating.

Announcer: But it's also time for cutthroat maneuvers.

Corinne (camera confessional): There's no question that Phillip has to go.

Cochran (talking to Andrea): If we're on the wrong side of the numbers, we're dead.

Announcer: Someone's getting blindsided.

Corinne (camera confessional): Tap. It's blindside time.

After "Cutthroat Maneuvers", we may be seeing all the major conspirators of the blindside. Phillip The Instigator, Corinne the Target, Andrea the co-conspirator working Cochran, Malcolm & the bootee Corinne ... she looks like she's in pain.

Transcript:

Jeff Probst: This is what's now being called "The Gross Food Eating Challenge." What it really is, we take local delicacies and we tempt the Survivors to try to get them down. We only do this on locations that have something to offer. And this is going to be out first individual immunity challenge. We're going to go give it a go right now.

Producer: Okay, go!

<rehearsal team starts to eat an item on a kabob>

<gagging and spitting out>

Jeff Probst: Caramoan Islands happened to have some really nice delicacies. Some great stuff. We have grubs, these little worms that are inching around. You tear the head off. We have balut (eggs) which we've used before. It's these little, kinda gross, chicks. You can see the feathers. And we have pig brain, which will be very tough for people to get down.

The kabob is probably coagulated pig's blood. It's a common street food and is actually pretty delicious (of course, this comes from a guy whose favorite dish is pig's blood soup). I also think I saw tubeworms in another screenshot.
