Since Gladys left Motown week what does it mean for Katherine that this is classical music week?

Keep all the dances, filler and what not here until the West Coast finishes trying to make a sonata out of samples from the band.

Argentine Tango wreckage ahead, this is not the night to lock up the liquor.

I can hardly wait until Mr. Qwerty gets home so we can watch. *eyeroll*

They added a bunch more musicians and vocalists, can the drown the regulars out?

No stairs, band too big.

Second round, team dancing.

She sang last year for classical night, dancing the rumba tonight.

Cannon in D.

"RE: Kathrine and Mark"
Posted by Snidget on 04-30-12 at 08:16 PM
I didn't know Mark was that tatted up?

It seemed a bit icy for a rumba to me, pretty, but not much else.

Len. Classic rumba, didn't go down the raunchy route, in keeping with the music. Style and elegance.

B. The unattainable object of desire. Toying with your subjects. Some of those figures belong in a museum. Could have gone father to get my juices going.

CA. Techinically unmatched. Tonight placement was perfect. Passion was a little placed, not heated. Beautiful lines.

Now DWTS trying to force twitter into hashtagging it.

Argentine Tango with injured Maks.

Has a cyst on his ankle. Val will help fill in if he has to. Dance Duel will be the rumba.

Take three to tango. Maks is dancing tonight.

Marriage of Figaro Overture. Big lift to start. She looks scared to death, and she's marrying the mannequin after all that.

B. Extremely brave to navigate Mozart. Tried hard. But at times like riding the cyclone at Coney Island. Got messy. Wasn't clean.

CA. Like cirque de soliel went wrong. Went for quantity over quality. Lift fest went wrong.

L. Dance is a marriage movement and music. You pulled that off. However, so much intensity, did lose a bit of quality.

When I was a little kid and Dad asked people to shout out their favorite verses, I always shouted out that one!

They got the short end of the musical stick. That song was NOT tango material!

"William and Cheryl"
Posted by Snidget on 04-30-12 at 08:41 PM
Jackie Evancho sings they dance the Viennese Waltz. Ankle bothering him in the spins.

Ave Maria.

Sweet dance. Jackie claps for them like she was upset how much camera time the dancers got.

CA. That is what I was looking for. Content. Find the story in the music, always a story of romance, bring the romance to life.

L. I wasn't transported to Vienna, I was in Austria. Up and down, tonight you were up.

B. You have captured the purity of the song. Vulnerability. Like you were dancing for your Mom the boy from Cuba. Followed the melodic line like a professional.

"Roshon and Chelsie"
Posted by Snidget on 04-30-12 at 08:53 PM
Argentine Tango. Roshon getting man lessons from Val.

Bad Romance, Classical Style.

Long shot of the DWTS logo in the middle of that.

L. Like the transitions into the lifts. Would like more tension through your feet. Clean and confident.

B. Slick line, love the hooks and lifts were seamless. Have to work on your legs. A bit wobbly. have to be grounded. Great job.

CA. Gives Roshon a hug, welcome back to the competition. That was you being steady on your feet. I don't know what these two are talking about.

Tomorrow night sob story dancer recovering from a brain aneurysm.

Bad Romance, classical style. WTH?
Well, Sam was laughing hysterically through the entire performance.

"RE: Roshon and Chelsie"

It actually wasn't too bad (Roshon dance AT better than Maks does). I will give Chelsie props for trying to incorporate some of the proper technique.

Bad Romance? A bit of pimpage, I suspect.

Much better tango music than M&M got stuck with. It felt like cheating to me.

OTOH, I liked it, so...

"Donald and Peta"
Posted by Snidget on 04-30-12 at 09:04 PM
Vittorio Grigolo singing. Viennese Waltz. Peta cramming it with content.

I should know the title of this song, but I don't. Although I seem to have Bugs Bunny Dancing in my head.

I enjoyed that, even with Bugs in my head

B. The sweeping drive and passion. You've got it and I loved it.

CA. Not sure if you had a lift, I didn't see it. I love your intensity, and your determination and regal quality.

L. Dancing Ferrero Rocher when I saw the coat., your foot work was spot on. Fleckle was a little bizarre.

9~9~9 27 out of 30

"Maria and Derek"
Posted by Snidget on 04-30-12 at 09:15 PM
Montagues and Capulets for the Paso Doble.

Derek upset Maria, his previous partners were dancers and she is not.

Shes got vamp teeth and hes got a stake to start with. She kills him in the end. Drags him over for judging. Stay dead...darn he got up.

CA. That didn't suck my friend. That was amazing. So on fire. Katherine better watch her back.

L. Crisp as a pringle, more tension than my mum's knicker elastic.

B. Queen of the damned is queen of the night. The structure the story telling the way you played together, spell binding.

Tom thinks this may break the three way tie for the lead.

10~10~10 First perfect 30 of the season.

"Jaleel and Kym"
Posted by Snidget on 04-30-12 at 09:26 PM
Viennese Waltz. Another fog machine overload.

Did I Make the Most of Loving You?

L. I like it enough not to be cruel, but not enough to be really kind. No footwork in there. Gotta look a little into the details.

B. Content wise, couldn't ask for more. Not executed as well as it could be. Throwing your arms, has to be corrected. As a story it was very nice.

CA. Feels bigger and broader. So engulfed here hand gets cringy, this is a tight competition.

SYTYCD did the Vietnamese Waltz joke first.

Gets some camera time mostly all to herself before the team dances.

There are some professional dancers (Karina and Tristan) but most of the focus is on her.

"Team Dance Set up."

Kathrine and William team captains.

Tango--7 mirror balls between the pros.
Four couples.

Roshon and Chelsie, Katherine and Mark, Maria and Derek, Jaleel and Kym.

Lose My Rag?

So Team Paso (will see their rehearsal later)
William and Cheryl, Melissa and Maks, Donald and Peta (aka the meat heads according to team Tango)

"Team Tango"
Posted by Snidget on 04-30-12 at 09:46 PM
Start with violins as props.

Maria/Derek Solo first
Jaleel/Kim second.
Katherine/Mark third.
Roshon/Chelsie last

Guys tossed away at the end, then do push ups after the music ends.

Len. Maria and Roshon the stand out. Mi of the good the bad and ugly. As a group good.

Bruno. Choreography beginning and end outstanding. Roshon you killed it. Katherine, others not at that level.

CA. That was incredible, so tight, and in sync. Roshon you brought it home.

Wayyyyyy overscored! I guess they really want Melissa out of there.
Roshon was the only decent one out there.

Call the other team, team diapers, and team kindergarten, as they have the men.

Flames on the floor.

Melissa/Maks first
William/Cheryl second, with the flame cans spewing flames.
Donald/Peta last.

Finish as team shirtless flinging capes around.

B. More power than the avengers. The boys dominated this. You guys are superheros.

CA. That was so much fun. Ridiculous to watch. Fan favorite Paso Doble.

Len. Undress to impress. Fire and Ice.

9~8~9 26 out of 30

Ballroom not happy.

William with his shirt off makes YOU look bad. Not vice versa.

I'm so glad he's a team player.

I have really lost interest this season. I want new judges. They annoy me. I have been watching "The Voice" and just recording DWTS. And I am watching less and less of the show. I FF during the judges ridiculous banter. They are finding more and more ways to have control. They want to pick the winners. They don't care who we want to watch. They keep adding duels and marathons and other ways to force their faves to stick around. I just don't care anymore.

Loree, I agree with you -- I've just started watching The Voice too and find it's better to watch DWTS via FF. Bruno and Carrie Ann have become caricatures.

That all said, though, I really think this is one of the best groups of dancers overall. Usually at this point in the season there are still a few stinkers or fan faves (e.g., Palin, Marie Osmond) who don't deserve to be there. But these remaining 7 are all pretty good and in most seasons would be F3.

I think Melissa clearly needs to go next. Fingers crossed that Roshon has enough of a fan base to carry him through another week.

It's a double elimination next week. We should really see the judges manipulating the scores next week to get rid of their lesser favs. I guess Melissa and either Jaleel/Roshon will get picked apart.

I didn't like Roshon at first because he was so cocky but he's grown on me. Every season Chelsea does a great job with what she's given and gets very little props for it. I hope he makes it through too.

ETA: Ooops I forgot that we haven't had an elimination yet this week. It's not looking good for Melissa, Jaleel and Roshon.
