"They Blew A Good, Evil Concept"

I was very content with the notion of dropping a bunch of county beauty pagent contestants into the outback with only their pumps and prom gowns, but now I'm having less fun.

I want the girls to starve. I want them to have to eat spiders and snakes to survive. More importantly, I do not want them to have MAKEUP. Some of those girls packed more Mac than I've purchased in my entire life.

I wanted to watch the ladies grow haggard and smelly. I wanted them to have to create their own shelters, using only sap and nettles. I especially did not want them issued helmets on that oh-so-thrilling canoe trip last night.

Now we basically have a Ho Millionaire show. I admit Jack is better eye candy than the Joes, but that doesn't make up for the loss of schadenfreude. We already know how this will go - Merissa and A Different, Nicer Gal will duke it out in the end. Will he choose personality or promiscuity? It's reality tv, so personality will prevail. So far this show is not enough to make me turn away from the repeat of ATM-Season One.

But I still have youthful dreams of a crocodile chowing down on at least one leggy blonde...

i've never seen this show, but i like your summary of what it was supposed to be and is actually not.

glad i'm not watching, cuz i'd be mad.

the worst was that superstar thing where they had that great idea to be cruel to ppl. at the end? they said "if you try really hard, you can be a star" and gave the horrendous girl voice lessons et. al.! grrrrrrrrrr!

Do you realize you just managed to do a better job of summarizing the show in eight words than MTW and I have managed in two episodes?

But you are funnier.

My plan is to watch the reruns of ATM (with a bit of Last Comic Standing on the side) and then catch the final five minutes of Outback Jack, supplemented by your summaries.

(sigh) Horrible, evil confession: I watched LCS and taped OJ. I needed OJ on tape anyway, and I had mild hopes for LCS that night.

Why are Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. EDT so (censored) crowded?

It was indeed an embarassment of "riches." I am getting very good at watching two reality shows simultaneously, though - by now it's easier to spot impending BRAK BRAK BRAKage and switch to a juicier moment on the alternate.

Agreed: too many reality shows on Tuesday nights. At least some of them are repeated later in the week. I really like my Picture in Picture, too.

"too many reality shows on Tuesday nights."

It would be really nice if the networks would stop scheduling ever reality show on Tuesday nights. I would like to see them spread out a little bit throughout the week. Although, BB5 should fill the void on Thursday and Saturday.

I remember when Tuesday used to be all about Buffy and Angel and now I have to decide which show to watch (usually based on if I can catch it later in the week).

I thought I had it all worked out until I realized the BB5 and Amazing Race are also on Tuesdays.

I also agree that Outback Jack could have been a really fun show, but instead it is just a bunch of girls camping. Vadim is really cute but I am not sure he would be so cute if he cleaned up. I kind of like the dirty scruffy look but I get the impression he is just playing dirty scruffy.

Just one person thoughts........
