Looks are never as important as what a person is inside. Most people would have considered my first husband to be a very good-looking man, but he was a worthless bum. I dated a number of extremely good looking, athletic men. I married an "Average Joe".

I call him "my diamond in the rough". I try not to polish my diamond too much though, because I don't want another woman to see how beautiful he really is.

Maybe these updated dating shows will cure men of gotta-only-have-a-babe attitude. A lot of these women seem so uninteresting, especially the new bunch out of Joe Millionaire.

Sounds good to me. I have one of those too!

I've considered writing a summary for this one, but it's almost like a guilty pleasure or my pleasure from their pain. I guess that's what this site is mainly about, but I can't help but feel sorry for these guys. Although, they may end up being jerks to Melena and I'll have to eat those words, kinda like liking LeAnne in the beginning.

According to the news page at this site, Fox is casting for a female ugly duckling turned swan show. They are probably going to just lay into those girls - you know it.

Thanks for the vidcaps webby! Number NINE is my favorite showing what's her name with a pained expression. I'll be watching at least the first episode. It should be good for a few laughs.

Why do I feel like this show is going to end with a sniper on the roof and a national ban on Reality Shows?

He does look exceedingly goofy. Like I said on a different thread, he looks like he walked straight out of Revenge of the Nerds. But actually, I read the bios on the website, and this guy in particular, along with a couple others, seem like pretty fun guys to hang out with.

I suspect these guys are going to be more fun to watch than that group from the Bachelor. I doubt there will be any wrestling matches in the bed rooms

Without a doubt. On the website it said they were a lot more unihibited, and would give each other noogies and talk about Star Trek and stuff. Seems like it'll be pretty funny.

.... I must put in a word on this board. If you look on the show site, I know the "Joe" named "John" and I can assure you as a normal person in my 20's, I would date him any day of the week. He isn't in the promo that you show here, but in other promos, he is the guy who is wearing the glasses and sings to her in German. I worked with him at a German immersion summer camp and he was awesome. I think my favorite time with him is when he showed me the Northern Lites with my friends in the middle of a soccer field. I must also say that I think in typical reality show fashion, they are manipulating some things here. For one thing, I never ONCE saw John wear glasses and I worked with him for three months every day. He looks FAR more attractive and much less "geeky" without them. I was surprised when I first saw him on TV cause I feel like the big network players did what they could to make him look more like a dork.

Brace for impact. There will be some posts in this forum that may offend you as you know one of the contestants. Just try to take it all in stride, after all it's just a TV show and it's just one opinion vs another. Most importantly, there are at least two sides to every story, and the wiser among us know that all too well. Take care, and welcome!

No worries, I'm braced. I am open for criticism and if John does something funny on the show, I will laugh along just as much. Thanks for the warning, though. I'm interested to hear everyone's side, but I know in the end that I know the real John, so it's all good. By the way, love your comic!

thats funny i just read these, cuz i just looked at the bios and I thought some of them seemed very shallow, some seemed sweet, some seemed decent, but
John = Hottie, he probably had to add glasses and stuff, to get geeky enough to qualify!
and likable in his answers too.
How can I not like a guy who appreciates good posture, overanalyzes, and once had blue hair in a rock band??

And it seems like most of them tend to put their foot in their mouths alot (their words), so unless John does something bad, expect me to be defending him alot. No, I don't even know him.

Welcome to the boards!

I'm not at all surprised that some of these guys are less nerdy than they look on TV. Lighting, makeup, editing- all manipulated for the sake of ratings. That's how TV works.

Many of these guys seem like people I'd hang out with IRL, and like I said in my earlier post, it seems as if they are a lot less inhibited, and let their personalities shine through a bit more.

That being said, making fun of reality show contestants is sort of our livelihood around here, like Guppin said. It's all in good fun though, and I hope you stick around with us for a while, even if your friend does take a bit of a bashing.

Just a head's up that yes, I did record the "this season on Average Joe" clip that ran at the end of the premiere, I just didn't have time to get the vidcaps done last night.

I'm going to try and get them up sometime tonight...
