Rock Week, probably dancing either the Tango or the Paso.

Brace yourself for what the band is going to do to these songs.

Troupe out dancing, with chairs and breakway skirts.

The judges have paddles that go all the way up to 11.

Brook in pleather.

Is that supposed to be the theme on rock?

Maria in a school girl outfit with nerd glasses. Val has a tattoo on his chest, painted on? Katherine and Mark in pleather.

Harold Wheeler in KISS makeup.

Mostly Pasos and Tangos, but with a Jive and a Viennese Waltz, so they say thrown in.

Thanks for the warning. I'll have plenty of ethanol on hand.

With the shudder I have, it may take more than just ethanol.

Better than skirts and break away chairs. Barely.

"Sherri and Val"

To Quiet Riot. Doing the Tango.

Trying to bring the Love and Hate for Val into the dance.

Rehearsal (all teams) drama before the break, they will dance after the break.

Flames on the stairs as we come back from break.

Quiet Riot song a staple in gentleman's clubs across the land so Tom is told.

Come on Feel the Noize.

Poor Qwerty. The Tango is Not Sherri's dance. Apparently Passion mean robotically going through the moves.

And someone walks into the camera shot at the end pose of that.

Len. Be still my beating heart. Didn't really have dances that suit your personality, little incident with feet overall good job.

B. I like you when you are mean and moody. Great attitude. Needed to be a bit sharper, but I like it when you are nasty.

CA. Good, what was lacking was your exuberance, your face was expressionless. No sparkle, saw it in the package, but not on the dance floor.

7~7~7 21/30.

"Kathrine and Mark"

Kiss guy cut in, and Mark bound and gagged. Can we leave him like that? And off to break.

Dancing the Paso Doble. Oh no, they unbound and gagged Mark, Took her to a wrestling/boxing club. Muay Thai Boxing is what they are doing.

MUSE - Time Is Running Out

Lots of skirt flailing.

B. Unleashing a whirlwind of fury, still needs to have definition. Not as clean and precise as it should be.

CA. Kept readjusting your feet. Appreciated the intensity but through you off.

L. Had promise but didn't deliver. but you are a wonderful dancer.

What was on the poster heading up the stairs???

"Jaleel and Kym"
Posted by Snidget on 04-09-12 at 08:37 PM
Will he have moves like Jagger? Reversing the woman spin on the floor move, Jaleel on the floor...will it make the dance?

Can't Get No Satisfaction Tango.

"RE: Jaleel and Kym"
Posted by Snidget on 04-09-12 at 08:41 PM
Yep, she spun him on the ground, not nearly as cool as it sounds like it would be.

CA. I loved it. Something funky and weird about it. Have a tendency to be a little smooth, a hair more staccato.

Len. I like the humor with you spinning on your bum. Needed a bit more attack. Panther-like stalking, as a performance it was great.

B. Not just in the face, the drive and aggression, a little underpowered, performance was good. More drive more aggression in the footwork.

Next week and for three weeks bottom 2 in a dance duel.

8~7~7 22/30

Lower scores so far overall this week.

"Melissa and Maks"
Posted by Snidget on 04-09-12 at 08:49 PM
Paso Doble. Really Rock song, so says Maks, needs everything that you are not.

She says there is a bad girl underneath, Maks not seeing it. Really pushing her. Now she wants to kill him at the end of the paso.

THE WHITE STRIPES - CONQUEST

I don't know this song, but I can't imagine this is how it was done by the White Stripes.

L. Bruno commenting in my ear, giving me a bit of a hump. I was concerned, but you came out with confidence and attacked the dance, silly Maks fell over. You can slip, stuff happens. Want to see you in a slower more lyrical dance.

Bruno. Love the flavor of spain, messed up the ending. Maks says it was his fault. When you can express without being rushed great. Running after it, need to keep up with it.

CA. Your best performance. Whole presentation. When you are in hold, you don't consider yourself equal, like you are holding on for dear life.

7~8~7 22/30

Ballroom is booing, they are used to the overscoring from previous weeks.

"RE: Melissa and Maks"
Posted by qwertypie on 04-09-12 at 09:43 PM
Conquest is actually pretty cool in the original version (more suited for ballroom tango than Argentine). Again, thanks for the warning. I will break out the tequila for the butchering.

"Donald and Peta"
Posted by Snidget on 04-09-12 at 09:00 PM
Paso to Jimi Hendrix.

Her sweater to practice the cape thing just wasn't doing it for him.

Purple Haze

"RE: Donald and Peta"
Posted by Snidget on 04-09-12 at 09:04 PM
Donald Shirtless.
Flames for the ending, as she spins on her butt.

Definitely had the aggression thing down.

B. Great guns, muscular masculine magnificent. Had a bit of sense of humor.

CA. Most psychedelic sexy hot damn Paso, spectacular and just Wow.

L. Never thought I'd get excited seeing a man with his shirt off. You frightened the life out of me, your best dance.7/

9~9~9 27/30

"Gladys and Tristan"
Posted by Snidget on 04-09-12 at 09:15 PM
Tango to Bohemian Rhapsody.

Hold me, I'm scared.

A lot of that was weird and awkward, can't tell how much was choreography vs performance.

CA. Most ambitious routine. Hard song to dance to. Didn't quite all come together.

Len. Tristan, good job with the choreography, every nuance picked out. Coped well with difficult music. Feet and legs more crisp, not your best, but not your worst.

B. Class act. Tempo changes, and musical phrasing changes. Because of that it lacked impact, did a great job.

Next week Latin week with Santana.

7~6~7 20/30

What were they thinking giving anyone that song for any kind of dance?? That was brutal.

Oh dear God -- where do I even begin? A new low for the band and the show.

"William and Cheryl"

Twisted Sister We're not going to take it.
Couple of hair band guys come in, he is wondering who these ugly women are.

The ugly women think William has great thighs.

Dancing the Jive.

That looks like a mess up of the swing her around steping over the legs thing.
More flames does not make the band sound like they are playing Rock, stop it.

Cheryl losing her shoes.

L. Went wrong, lost timing, it is what it is. Show is live. Last week you went wrong, you gotta nail the routines.

B. Performance rocks the house. Did go off. Has to be sharp, cannot be complacent.

CA. They go crazy for you. Have something special. Stay focused on your partner.

Just shoot me now -- the band is killing me. Since when is "we're not going to take it" a happy bouncy song? UGGGH!

ETA Props to Cheryl for dancing after slipping ouit of her shoe, but a shake her silly for putting that move in the routine in the first place.

Because nothing says Rock like the Viennese Waltz.

B. The way you extend the lines through your hands, romantic I loved it.

CA. Like the climax of a Disney Movie, of the men you are the best dancer.

B. Good job, Dawg. Style and panache, little stumble, but good job dawg.

Between flying beads of death and fog machine that obscured their feet (and the beads now all over the floor) I am really taking issue with the prop/costuming department.

"Maria and Derek"

Mini Stonehedge from the ceiling.

School's Out by Alice Cooper.

Bruises and a stress fracture in her feet. Going to keep pushing through.

Dancing the Tango.

"RE: Maria and Derek"
Posted by Snidget on 04-09-12 at 09:47 PM
Piggy back ride to get the judging.

CA. Such incredible chemistry together. She just ate her earing.

Len. had the aggression, lost a little bit of control. Great posture, the tops.

B. Sex appeal by the truck load. That was brilliant.

Chose the dancers for the design a dance.

Band sucked.

Was that John Stamos in the audience next to Nia Vardalos?

"Gavin and Karina"

Tango, well at least rock is his element.

"I'm going to duct tape your mouth, my love".

"RE: Gavin and Karina"

L. I liked it. had flair and attitude. Bend forward, gotta tuck your bum under.

B. Very determined, but your frame was bad. Messy on that corner.

CA. Like watching Johnny Depp, Character. Posture was a little strange. Intention behind every move, sold it.

Tom rushes them so they can get done in time.

Did you break out of the bottom two? Absolutely not. We are the strong foundation at the bottom.

8~8~7 23 out of 30

Did I mentionned how much the band sucks tonight?

I'm glad he switched out of his 'Star Trek' pants he was practising in.
His posture needs work.

Thanks for the play-by-play and the heads up to have copious amounts of alcohol present.
Gotan Project will be on tomorrow -- Yippee! I love their stuff! I only hope they get some decent dancers. I think I will make sure I will still have the alcohol on hand in case the dancers suck.
