Drink of the night

Something for everyone:

Jameson shots and Bellini

snack of the night

Chilly and windy today, do comfort food:

Pot Pies! Turkey pot pie and Tofu/veggie pot pie

I'll have one eye on The Voice ... just sayin'.

Digs into the turkey pot pie! Yum.

Brooke's in some "Big Bird/Playboy photo" conglomeration, that she appears to have gotten a look at herself on camera and thought "Holy crap".

Gavin still in hat
Martina's wardrobe folks are taking the ball and slamming it.

They keep hammering to us that the is "hip hip". I don't see it.

Better than I expected, enough for the Disney vote.

Len: Liked it!! A bit wild, but thoroughly enjoyed it.

Bruno: Traditional but cheeky with swagger. Delicious!

Carrie Anne: She was worried last week - Swagger meets sophistication.

Carrie Anne: 9
Len: 8
Bruno: 9

WTF!! So early in the season?!? I think they may regret this. After all, they have had several weeks for these dances, time will tell how well they really dance.

Way. Over. Scored.

"Sherry/Val"
Posted by whimsey on 03-26-12 at 08:18 PM
She doesn't have the stamina for the Jive. She says: Val.must.learn.how.to.lift.her.equipment.

Yikes.

Proud Mary - Tina Turner version.

"RE: Sherri/Val"
Posted by whimsey on 03-26-12 at 08:25 PM
She starts out in a black sequined shirt dress - rips it off to reveal a more appropriate gold fringed number. Ooops in the middle, Sherri covers well as Val is gobsmack. She's a pro!

Bruno - doesn't care about the mistakes, loved it!

Len - would have liked more Jive content, but she really sold it.

Carrie Anne: You worked it out girl!

They re-do the mis- steps

Carrie Anne: 8
Len: 7
Bruno: 8

Loved Val/Sherri tonight. wasn't the best but they were having so much fun.

She dated Billy Idol back in the day: Went from the Bad Boy of Rock n' Roll to the Bad Boy of Ballroom

Cries when Maks yells, cries when he praises - he's confused.

Not sure about that dress, doesn't quite work for me. Had a oopsie in the second part. I blame the dress.

Carrie Anne: Recovered well you better learn to let go hide nerves. Good job.

Len: Started off well but lost some energy difficult choreography.

Bruno: I can see your thought process and how you begin to over think. Good performance.

Carrie Anne: 7
Len: 6
Bruno: 7

Dare I say, this was the first appearance of the season for the Maks Man Thong

"RE: Melissa/Maks"

This dance was nice, I think they were underscored a little

"RE: Melissa/Maks"
Posted by JessicaRN on 03-27-12 at 01:14 AM
For some reason, she seems kind of odd in rehearsals, so it's hard for me to get past it in her performances.

"Jack/Anna"
Posted by whimsey on 03-26-12 at 08:45 PM
Jack gets the step, then he has trouble with commanding his body. Seems to try way to hard.

Jive
Gimme Some Lovin"

vince would not like this at all.

"RE: Jack/Anna"
Posted by whimsey on 03-26-12 at 08:52 PM
Yep - tried too hard.

Len; Attacked the dance and lost control. Should take you to next week.

Bruno: Kicks have to be right on, over all performed great

Carrie Anne: You're a really good dancer, but you over danced. have more ease - but fun to watch.

Carrie Anne: 7
Len: 7
Bruno: 7

"RE: Jack/Anna"
Posted by qwertypie on 03-27-12 at 01:56 AM
Oh come on! They give the Disney kid with his weird knees such a high score and Jack gets 21? FIX! FIX!

"Gladys/Tristan"
Posted by whimsey on 03-26-12 at 08:55 PM
Looking forward to the challenge - happy with great scores last week. Never been nervous in her life, but she's nervous about this competition.

Quickstep

Sir Duke - Stevie Wonder

"RE: Gladys/Tristan"
Posted by whimsey on 03-26-12 at 09:09 PM
Very nice piano graphic on the floor during that one bit. Kinda slow for a quickstep, don't know if it is the band or the choreography

Bruno: Natural feel for the music. Careful with the frame. Should be precise.

Carrie Anne: Agrees - light on your feet nut a little casual for a quickstep.

Len: Gives credit - but needs technique. Didn't appreciate the dance.

Carrie Anne - 7
Len - 5
Bruno - 7

Len's going to need an escort to the parking lot.

"I'm Here"

7~5~7 for Gladys/Tristan.

Is Len having a Grumpy night? Tom wants to go home and watch Clueless as Len doesn't know why people are booing him.

Has everyone gotten all those effects?

CA-Tone and Extension, Arms beautiful lines
Len-You can do this full on dancing, didn't like the middle section.
B-Blonde Bombshell is unleashed, talke about sexy and I know it, I know sexy and you got it. Those are how you do flicks.

Sugarland and Matt Nathanson tomorrow.

Scores

9~8~9 26/30 tied for the top score so far.

"RE: Kathrine and Mark"

Way too much I thought, but well danced. They really didn't need all the props.

He looks a bit awkward in this dance especially compared to last week.

L. Lacked really attack, toe heel swivels good, wasn't sharp. Little disappointed, not terrible.
B. Loved the concept. Cook a good dish. The sticks and flicks be sharper on it.
CA. hard to keep up to that expectation. Dancing flat footed, would have given it 10% more.

Scores
7~7~8 22/30

"RE: Jaleel and Kym"
Posted by whimsey on 03-26-12 at 09:18 PM
I would not have guessed that performance! Like a different person from last week. Slow, hesitant, even awkward in some spots. Interesting.

Scores were too high, IMHO. Really disappointed in that one.

Bonnie and Clyde themed Quick Step.

She hurt a rib in rehearsal. OK as long as she doesn't inhale and he doesn't touch it.

Give Bruno A Kiss.

B. That is a frame you can frame, nearly spotless, missed a step in the run on that side. Flying killers.

CA. That is what we are looking for when we say frame. Got out of sync there in the middle section. Huge improvement from last week.

Len. Quick step is about balance speed and control had both of those. Would have liked more body contact, improvement so well done.

She was in a lot of pain during the commercial break.

Scores

8~8~9 25/30

Oh Dear, that is unfortunate.

CA. I love the approach, the attitude. Missed 2 counts of 8 here and there.

Len. Made an old man happy. Too neat and too precises. All about whamming us. Careful and you have to attack.

Bruno. Served into the net. Can't keep up. When you relaxed it was good.

Had a technical difficulty with the phone number.

6~5~6 17/30

Didn't care for their dance. But Martina/Tony are one of my favorite teams, hope they are not the first to go.

"RE: Martina and Tony"
Posted by Round Robin on 03-27-12 at 02:01 AM
They are the worst and will go soon, but I gave them all my votes because I don't want Tony to be 1st pro out and because I don't want Gavin to outlast Martina.

Cute, not great, but definitely cute.

L. Up there with the best I've seen tonight. Watched the show back, I undermarked you last week.

B. Great lines, refined and elegant. Took our comments and proved us wrong.

CA. All those years of watching, your hold was beautiful.

"RE: Gavin and Karina"

I think we have just redefined Wild and not in a good way.

B. Leather does wonders for you, and for me. Messed up a lot of the kicks and flicks. Performance is enjoyable.

CA. Pushing your boundries, you did that. Some strange kicks, really went for it.

Len. Attitude and energy I like, improvement on last week.

13 extra hours of rehearsal this week. Most of any group.

7~7~7 21/30

B. Even fully clothed you have the ability to dazzle. Superb.
