This just in...

President Bush is performing tomorrow night during American Idol.
What song do you think he'll choose?

Elvis Costello's "Peace in Our Time"?
Public Enemy's "Can't Truss It?"
Husker Du's "Turn on the News?"
Sonic Youth's "Youth Against Fascism"?

Wait-- I know what he'll sing: something from The Spin Doctors (LOL)

Oh. whoops. It's a press conference. I guess that means no singing from the Prez.

Still, he interrupts (?) our American Idol for this? Oh the irony!!

ha ha. Just kidding with the political stuff. But he really is staging a press conference at 8:30. Darn it.

The Prez should sing "Anarchy in the U.K.", he can change it to USA, ya know...the judges love it when the singers make a song their own.

Why isn't W. going to be home watching Idol so he can at least pretend like he has something in common with the masses?

OH NO!! Are you serious, because if you are I will go into serious withdrawel, I have to have my weekly American Idol fix.

If he preempts American Idol, he will loose the votes of millions of Americans, and I will be one of them! LOL

FOX DEBATES: 'AMERICAN IDOL' OVER BUSH PRESS CONFERENCE

The White House scheduling of President Bush's formal press conference tomorrow night at 8:30 PM ET has thrown FOX-TV and its top-rated AMERICAN IDOL into chaos, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

FOX executives on Monday afternoon wrestled over whether to postpone this week's lucrative live IDOL showdown for the White House.

The Bush 8:30 PM press conference is set to run approximately 45 minutes, leaving a non-interrupted IDOL hour a scheduling impossibility during FOX's 8 to 10 PM primetime block.

IDOL commands the largest audience in television, with viewership levels passing 23 million in recent weeks.

One top executive argued Monday afternoon that the show should go forward -- with an on-screen disclaimer directing viewers to FOX NEWS channel for Bush coverage.

No final decision has made as this transmits.

Haven't the networks at some time before decided to forego a Presidential press conference in favor of regular shows? Not W, but either Clinton or Bush I?

Hey Boner! *waves* to Boner, (which I hate calling you because my last name very much resembles that nickname and I was called "Boner" for most of my young, pained life)

What I remember is that they pre-empted Growing Pains almost weekly when I was a kid for some Presidential hoo-haa. It was devastating! I really blame the Republicans for that!

Nailbone just likes it because Kirk Cameron's best friend was named Boner. Would he still be able to call him that if they have a reunion show?

Sounds about the right time for Iran-Contra. And you CAN blame the republicans for that!

Remember when the networks were having such a hard time deciding between Clinton's S.O.U address and O.J.'s civil trial verdict? Touch, tough choices.

Would much prefer to watch AI. I am sure those who want to spend their Tuesday eveing being lied to can catch Bush on a number of networks.

Totally off topic, but my two year old son was sitting on my lap as I read your post, he was screaming "Spidey, Spidey!!" I had to sit here for ten minutes while he watched Spider Man move.

You just made one two year old very happy!

Update.

Bush bumps Idol to Wednesday night.

"RE: Uh-oh--Preemption?"

Makes sense. I think FOX should just show Idol on Tuesday while the President is on all the other channels, and see what brings in the bigger ratings rather than moving it.

So Idol plans on going up against Survivor?
Bush is so not getting my vote, cutting into my important TV time is number 1 on my list of why not to vote for a President.

Crap. I guess I'll have to pluck out my eyelashes Tues. night instead. Will be much more fun.

Don't worry about missing the results show. I won't. It sucks anyway. And I am sure you can log on before Survivor on Thursday on the left coast and get the results without having to open a thread!

This will kill the results show ratings. It will be going up against Survivor and the Apprentice finale. I myself will be watching the Apprentice and taping Survivor. Only one VCR in this house, so I guess no results show for me that night.

Can't wait till I can afford a Tivo.

If Bush sings on AI, does that mean there's any chance he'll be voted off on Thursday? If so, a good song choice might be, "So Long, Farewell" from Sound of Music.

Brazen,

You can flip btw the two, or just go to AI at 8:25 or so when theres a commercial on Survivor.

If i did the AI results show it would be 1 minute. Three names, then two then YOURE gone. end of show.
