Hey there -
I am the Music Supervisor (and the Casting Director) for Love Cruise and I am glad you liked the music. The Main Title Theme is a totally original piece that our composer, Christopher Brady, wrote for the show. If you listen closely during the series, the melody of the theme appears in different styles to create a musical tapestry through the show. Some of the theme variations that score the series are awesome pieces of music. Right now the music isn't available but if you bug FOX enough, maybe they will want to do a soundtrack for the series. Chris Brady did some amazing music for the show - I hope you dig it.

Thank you very much. If at any time and MP3's become available, please tell me. I hope to hear more from this composer as time goes on. I really like his work. Thanks again!

Forgive my skepticism. . . but something tells me dynamics IS the "composer." or his mother.

Thanks for the laugh, you two!

Skepticism? You mean cynisism. Dynamics is not Chris Brady as far as I know and I really don't think it would further his career any by planning a secretive campaign to further his name among people on an internet message board. In fact as much as Chris would be flattered by the praise he has been way too busy to even look at the internet. Although both shows are on FOX, this isn't the X-Files and your conspiracy theory is a pretty weak stab at someone who enjoyed the music enough to make a simple compliment.
The only reason I have been checking this site is because I'm proud of the work we did on the show over the last year.

kidhell, just to take IceCat's point a little further...

This board is made up of two kinds of people: those who love reality TV shows and those who love to bash them. George Tirebiter is one of the leading members of the second group, and, as your post makes clear (in discussing your pride in your work), you would be in the first group. When the two groups mix, sparks can sometimes fly. My apologies.

We hope that you stay and join us. Personally, I was particularly interested in your comments about the cuts made in the editing of the first episode (in another thread), and I hope that you will continue to share such insights with us.

<I'm proud of the work we did on the show over the last year.>

Hmmm....Naw, too, too easy.

Who cast the stalk of bananas that is in almost every shot on the show? Will they be voted off onto Loser Island? Will they ripen? Will anyone actually ever eat one, preferably Lisa? That would be way cool, her eating a banana slowly with that theme music playing softly in the background. It might even breathe life back into the old Mitchell Brothers' Pussycat Theaters.

Final question: Did the bananas get scale, or did they get golden time for having to appear next to host and probably lose any chance for any roles in the future? They certainly shouldn't have to play second banana to that guy!

Nah, I think I meant "skepticism" when I said it--but cynicism works, too. We've had more than our share of people trolling for attention here, hence my SKEPTICISM that it was a legitimate compliment. Might've been more believable if the music had made any kind of impression on me at all--but hell, at least it wasn't GRATING, which would be far worse than "forgettable."

Thanks guys for softening my blow (and yes, Aya. . . the worst part is that you had to play daddy AGAIN. . . See my guilt? It's real, I swear!) Still, shakes DID beg for LC BASHING--but I will try to remember that we're not compartmentalized as in the Survivor forums. . . this is bound to be a mish-mash in the "Everything" forum.

But Sky, you're the worst of all. . . I can't remember the last time I had to dash to the bathroom from laughing sooo hard, soooo long. Thanks for a genuine belly-laugh!! (as well as taking the heat off me. . .) Honestly, we're accumulating a delicious smorgasbord of witty men around here in the last few weeks--S3 is shaping up to be a real hoot, and this whole LC mess is just honing us all for the party.

BWWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Sky Raider!!!! Your remarks made it worth wading through this thread!

I too have noticed the bananas in the background, and thought, wtf???? There is a message there, I am sure. Perhaps there are several dozen donuts placed nearby that haven't caught our eye yet. (come on people, get your minds INTO the gutter! )

Or maybe...one or more of the dares involves bananas. (Stay IN the gutter, please. Do not leave the gutter until instructed to do so.)

. . . for making sure we never leave there. . . Now I can't get that Devo video out of my head--the one with the doughnuts and french fries going at it (crinkle-cut, for her pleasure!).

...I know I told you when we spoke on Monday, but I just wanted to say again how much I love the music on the show, especially the opening theme. You did a great job putting it all together!

I saw one of your other posts on a different thresd and said hi, but I wanted to do it here as well since this thead is more up your alley....great to see you on the board. Can't wait to see the next episode!

Also, saw a few of the old LC casting people last night at our premiere party at Joe's...we all wished you could've been there

Guess who?

ME THE COMPOSER? lol
I *wish* I had composed that main theme. Unfortunately I didn't, but if I had I doubt I'd be racing around in message boards complimenting my own work.

On the flip side, anyone who worked on the show NEEDS to find an .mp3 of that opening theme!!! I love it! I need it! Get it!

That's the one thing I hate about TV -- You hear a song/theme, whether it be on a commercial or for a show, and then you can never find it anywhere! Argh.

<That's the one thing I hate about TV -- You hear a song/theme, whether it be on a commercial or for a show, and then you can never find it anywhere! Argh.>

I know what you mean....I've been whistling the theme song from "Bonanza" for the past 40 years....

Instead of filling in the word "Bonanza" in my head for the word though, now I'm using "Bananas." A change of pace for the next 40 years that should tide me over.

Everytime that I see that stalk of bananas on the show, I think "Emmy!"

Is it just me, or are they turning in such a stellar performance that it makes one completely forget the other people on the show?

Maybe just because it's a fasting day and it's morning and...cereal, milk, bananas.....?

So, kidhell, if you were the casting director, how about telling us what you looked for in contestants? How long did it take, where auditions were held, how many applicants there were, what age ranges you considered, what kind of personalities you wanted-things like that.

I really like the music too.

However, is it just my tv, or does some of the background music, make it difficult for anyone else to hear the dialog?

I have this same problem with Fox sports broadcasts. The crowd noise, completely drowns out the announcers.(which is sometimes a good thing)

I don't notice this happening on any other networks. Maybe it's just a FOX thing?

I couldn't put any lyrics to the actual Love Cruise music, so I came up with my own version of "The Love Boat" song, just because everyone is probably familiar with the melody.

Love Cruise

Love, you won't find it here
Not today, or later this year
Love, life's sweetest reward
It can't flow, with all eyes on you
The Love Cruise, soon will be making another run
The Love Cruise, promises money, reward, and fun
Set a course for real tension
You know you can't find romance

Love, it hurts more and more
Take a chance, you'll wind up on shore
It's Fox! It's Fox!

The Love Cruise, soon will be making another run
The Love Cruise, promises money, reward, and fun
Set a course for real tension
You know you can't find romance

Love, it hurts more and more
You'll force a big smile, then wind up on shore
It's Fox! It's Fox! It's Fox!
We all snooze- it's Love Cruise

(man, these people who repeat lyrics are just plain lazy)

well... I can't do it myself but I will inquire if maybe FOX can make a downloadable MP3 of the theme song available on the Love Cruise web site. Other favorite pieces of mine inclue: "Lisa's Theme" (a tragic melody), "1st Raising of the Sails" (this one is amazing but it took 6 tries to get it right), and "The Love Theme" (which appears soon and is a variation on the title music). I will put in a call and see if they are interested in posting some MP3's.

LAST EDITED ON 09-27-01 AT 08:07 PM (EST)

The official site already features enough music when the pages load (you know, prior to this I think I hadn't seen stuff like that on a webpage since like 1997 -- back when it was kewl,) so ya, it would be nice if SOME OF IT had something to do with the actual show -- good idea.
