"DWTS 12 Episode 2 ECST"

Posted by vince3 on 03-28-11 at 07:19 PM
Tonight is our second performance night before we finally get to feed the Red Light of DOOM and eliminate a contestant....

Of note for this week is there is something in the Tuesday 8:00 slot called DWTS: The Story So Far... which I imagine is a highlight package of both last week's and tonight's dances, and maybe some rehearsal footage, as well...

Other than that, brace for band svckage, and prepare for more dancing!

"Will they show Maks' friend"
Posted by Snidget on 03-28-11 at 07:21 PM
http://www.tmz.com/2011/03/28/maksim-chmerkovskiy-dancing-with-the-stars-cancer-treatment-vip-backstage-front-row/

Sources connected to the production tell us Maksim had been furiously trying to set up the perfect evening for a special VIP guest ... asking for front row seats for tonight's show along with special backstage passes ... and now we've learned there's a reason he's so motivated.

We're told a friend of Maksim's informed the dancer about a woman who was having a really tough time with recent cancer treatments -- and she happened to be a fan of the show. So Maksim sprung into action, instantly trying to do everything he could to help get her mind off the pain.

Will they show the soft side of the bad boy?

Clearly this wasn't Simon's week to have the heart.

"Possible delay"
Posted by vince3 on 03-28-11 at 07:59 PM
President Obama had a speech scheduled for 7:30, and it appeared that he was delayed or somesuch, as the speech just ended slightly before 8...

"Not delayed, BIG Intro"
Posted by vince3 on 03-28-11 at 08:03 PM
Ya know, I wish this precise timing would actually happen on occasion for TAR... They cut the rhetoric extremely short and that immediately means a cut to the opening...

WTFH? Looks like Chelsea/Tony have an Alice In Wonderland theme going on... and there might be a few more interesting ones, if the outfits are any indications...

"Sugar Ray/Anna"
Posted by vince3 on 03-28-11 at 08:07 PM
Last week they did a so-so Fox Trot... They had issues in the hold portion...

They drew the Jive, and Sugar Ray celebrates that posture isn't as big an issue... until he finds out how friggen fast it is... and he gets knocked down... Anna wants to incorporate some of his more famous boxing moves into the dance...

Dancing the Jive to Do You Like Good Music?

Black and white opening to start...

"Do you like good music?"

You do? Then why are you watching this show?

"RE: Sugar Ray/Anna"
Posted by Snidget on 03-28-11 at 08:09 PM
I think it is called "Sweet Soul Music"

It was a lot of fun and entertaining although the jidges don't seem to like it that much.

"RE: Sugar Ray/Anna"
Posted by Estee on 03-28-11 at 08:14 PM
Yeah, Len's back in Having Fun Is The Greatest Sin mode. And that usually doesn't kick in until Week #3.

"RE: Sugar Ray/Anna"
Posted by vince3 on 03-28-11 at 08:11 PM
Ruh-roh... Len's first up and he thinks that they're in jeopardy... Again the technical was NOT SO MUCH! Footwork issues, as well, says Bruno...

Scores: 6-5-6 for a total of 17 for the week, 34 for the scoring period...

Still a bit stiff. Keeping my fingers crossed. He certainly has the drive to win.

"RE: Sugar Ray/Anna"

He made mistakes. But I find Sugar Ray and Anna entertaining. They look like they are having fun.

"Kendra/Louis"
Posted by vince3 on 03-28-11 at 08:18 PM
Louis is gonna try this week to get rid of the tomboy in Kendra... but not even 5 years in the Playboy Mansion could do so... and it ends up causing a little bit of an emotional breakdown because she's having difficulties...

Dancing the Quickstep to Sometimes You Gotta Work Hard For It

"RE: Kendra/Louis"
Posted by Snidget on 03-28-11 at 08:20 PM
She was working way too hard for that. If she should relax a bit into the dance it would really improve. She obviously is putting in a lot of work.

"RE: Kendra/Louis"

Scores: 7-6-6 for a total of 19 for the week, 37 for the scoring period...

"RE: Kendra/Louis"

I'm glad she has Louis, she may blossom, yet. Chesticles?!?!

"RE: Kendra/Louis"
Posted by Estee on 03-28-11 at 08:24 PM
Did you notice the camera cutting away every time she started to laugh?

Poor Kendra. She may have broken through the Bunny Ceiling (it's a 7! They do exist!), but I don't think there's any way she can get through to enough of the voters. Sixth place is about her limit, and that's if someone trips and breaks their leg the week before.

"Sixth place is about her limit, and that's if someone trips

LOL. Bite your tongue. No injuries this season, please.

"RE: Kendra/Louis"
Posted by Loree on 03-28-11 at 08:44 PM
Kendra seemed like she was going too fast at times and got her steps mixed up. She seems to have talent. But she needs to slow down a bit.

"RE: Kendra/Louis"
Posted by qwertypie on 03-28-11 at 11:40 PM
The song did not help her at all.

"RE: Kendra/Louis"
Posted by JessicaRN on 03-28-11 at 11:43 PM
I'm not in her demographic at all, but for some reason I like her and I also like the fact that she looks like she is working really hard. Louis seems to enjoy her also. Hope she hangs around for a while.

"Chelsea/Mark"
Posted by vince3 on 03-28-11 at 08:29 PM
They were quite happy with their 21 from last week... Chelsea's terrified with the choreography in this dance... and Mark's pushing the boundaries of what counts for Jive choreo...

Mark's got a crush on her brain? Ho boy...

Dancing the Jive to What a Beautiful Wedding (which sounds like it may be from the last version of Alice in Wonderland, considering their outfits and set assistance...?)

Because the mime makeup would require him to shut up.

"RE: Chelsea/Mark"
Posted by Snidget on 03-28-11 at 08:31 PM
The song is called "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" by Panic at the Disco, but if you don't know it it you wouldn't guess that.

I really enjoyed it, but I don't think the judges will.

"RE: Chelsea/Mark"
Posted by Estee on 03-28-11 at 08:34 PM
It reminded me of Nicole Sureringer doing her sailor routine. It was energetic, it was well-designed, and it bore no resemblance to the assigned dance.

"RE: Chelsea/Mark"
Posted by Snidget on 03-28-11 at 08:37 PM
*nods*

I like the creativity, but I can see where it can get into trouble with the judges and sometimes there isn't enough of the standard issue style in it.

"RE: Chelsea/Mark"
Posted by vince3 on 03-28-11 at 08:37 PM
Oof... looks like the boundaries were broken and they went past Jive into Freestyle/Contemporary Dance... Bruno is the only one who liked it... until he talks about the lack of Jive portions...

Scores: 6-5-7 for a total of 18 for the week, 39 for the scoring period...

"RE: Chelsea/Mark"
Posted by Loree on 03-28-11 at 08:52 PM
Mark and the jive. Another chance to make it all about himself. Mark gets to use makeup and dress crazy. Too bad he hurt Chelsea trying to show off.

"RE: Chelsea/Mark"
Posted by Sagebrush Dan on 03-29-11 at 01:11 AM
It seemed everything was wrong with this. It wasn't a jive, and, regardless of what the judges say, I don't think Chelsea is all that talented. She seemed to just be walking through this.

Have to agree, Dan. It was really weird, start to finish, and I felt that Chelsea was a bit embarrassed? maybe to even be a part of it....showed in the scores, too!

He did a really good job of that.

I keep forgetting that's the proper title for that...

"RE: Chris/Cheryl"

He did very well. I know I shouldn't expect much, but he did well, bouncy, lively on point most of the dance.

"RE: Chris/Cheryl"
Posted by Estee on 03-28-11 at 08:46 PM
...okay, where did that come from? Chris just announced his intention to not go anywhere for a while with an intensity that may have won him a Snickers commercial.

Geez, he can move. (And my, can Cheryl spend too much time in a tanning booth. I think she's six shades darker than last week.)

"RE: Chris/Cheryl"

"Petra/Dmitry"
Posted by vince3 on 03-28-11 at 08:50 PM
She brought beauty, but they had concerns because Jive has issues for tall people... (Her response, what am I supposed to do, get smaller?) She's more afraid of the tricks than anything else, though...

Dmitry takes her to a trampoline to get her to not be as afraid anymore...

Dancing the Jive to Crazy Little Thing Called Love

(Not a bad version of it, either...)

"RE: Petra/Dmitry"
Posted by Snidget on 03-28-11 at 08:53 PM
Were they trying to use that outfit to distract from the dancing. That really didn't seem to be as good as the judges seem to think it is.

"RE: Petra/Dmitry"
Posted by vince3 on 03-28-11 at 08:55 PM
Petra kissed Tom and all three judges, which gives Tom the opportunity to get the band pimpage check for the week...

"RE: Petra/Dmitry"
Posted by Estee on 03-28-11 at 08:57 PM
Not sure how to feel about that. It looked like the turnaround version of what the female professionals frequently do: 'Forget the dance and look at my legs!' And once you get past the legs, you have -- what the legs are doing. Which still needs some work.

I hope she stays in, but I don't know where her fanbase is coming from.

"RE: Petra/Dmitry"
Posted by Loree on 03-28-11 at 09:08 PM
I don't think she is very good. She seemed so tentative. And they are kind of boring.

I agree. This just may be too hard for her.

"RE: Petra/Dmitry"

She ran out of gas at the end, and had a little bit of a footwork issue near the end... but other than that, pretty good...

"RE: Kirstie/Maksim"
Posted by Estee on 03-28-11 at 09:09 PM
When I saw the dress, I wondered if Maksim was trying to hide her footwork. And by the time the dance ended, I was convinced of it.

A step down from last week, but this was arguably the one she was going to have the greatest trouble with: best to get it out of the way now with the additive scoring in play. She's safe.

"RE: Kirstie/Maksim"

I think it may be, Jessica. I looked on Wikepedia and the ones listed all 'seemed' younger. But I wasn't that familiar with a few of them. I do think you're right, though.

As Dr. Drew prepares to send him into Dance Rehab.

Improved -- but did we just see his ceiling? I'm not sure how much farther he can go skillwise, and if he can't find a way to lure votes... well, VFTW doesn't seem to be paying attention this year.

He may have to fall on something. Or someone.

"RE: Mike/Lacey"

I didn't think Mike was any better than last week. He started off better. But then he was back to alot of standing and posing and jumping.

"Lacey's hair"
Posted by Hoobie on 03-29-11 at 08:02 PM
Has anyone commented on Lacey's twotone hair? It is very distracting, and looks bad. With all the help they have with costumes, makeup, etc., I am very surprised they haven't fixed this yet.

Now - I've been there myself. I was blonde for many years, and instead of getting reverse weaves to go back natural, I grew it out, just like Lacey. There were definitely awkward times, but I was not in the public, like she is.

It couldn't possibly be deliberate, right?

"RE: Lacey's hair"

I commented last week, it was really noticeable with the camera pointed straight down at the top of her head in some shots.

I would think they could put more dark in the lighter part to at least fade the line a bit.

But some people like that two tone growing out look.
