"TAR6 Not So Move of the Week: Episode 4"

Posted by ssshaw on 12-08-04 at 12:02 PM

Man, these teams are making me mad. When will they start making mistakes? Oh well, I guess I'll have to try and work with it. Here are the choices:

1. Hayden/Aaron and Kris/Jon leave the pitstop and have to go to the Town Tower. The locals tell them that it opens at 10 AM. The problem is that the tower actually opens at 7 AM. Because of the information they had, they just wander around until 10 AM. They are the last two teams to the tower.

2. Gus/Hera and Don/Mary Jean get to the detour and choose Pull Em Up. However, it takes a while for them to complete it. On top of that, Hera and Don get seasick. They are the last two teams to finish the detour.

3. Adam/Rebecca arrive at the roadblock and let Adam do it. Adam, though, has trouble getting through it and gets passed by several girls. They finish the leg in 6th place.

4. Don/Mary Jean get off the ferry and have to find Phil. It takes a while for them, and they can't overtake Gus/Hera. They arrive in last place and lose all their money.

I'm going with # 1. Even though it in no way affected the outcome of the race, it was dumb, dumb, dumb. You've got 8 hourse to kill, why not go and check the Tower. What if it had been one of those times where you had to pull a number to go up the tower. Love Kris and Jon, but that was dumb!

#2 - hindsight. It was not a good detour, but who knew?

I've got to vote for #1. What dumbasses! Look at the sign for yourself. What opens at 10:00 am these days? Too bad with all the bunching it didn't really affect the outcome.

#1, far and away.

Production NSMW: Making this leg a non-elimination leg. Making Don & MJ beg for money in *this* country is just wrong on several levels.

#1 was the most stupid thing done in this episode. Choosing the slower Detour is determined by hindsight.

#4 was all editing. Don & MJ were a whole ferry ride (possibly a trip to the island and back) behind Gus and Hera. They had no chance to catch up even though CBS led us to believe otherwise. Next week, check the Departure times for Gus/Hera and Don/MJ to see how far apart they arrived at the mat.

For all of the reasons that everyone above has said.

Did you notice that while the Opening-Closing sign on the tower was legit, that the sign on the Cemetary was obviously put there by the TAR production team? The writing on the sign was only in english and not in Senegalese or French. This leads me to question what the penalty would be if someone used their initiative to enter a building/monument/place rather than waiting for the "official" opening time? I'm not speaking of "breaking and entering" but what if they found someone to let them in, or "shimmy" over a wall. Although, I'm not sure it was related to Opening times I recall that one team hopped a fence near the Great Wall to get a clue (TAR Classic?). I don't recall a penalty there.

#1 I agree this was dumb but in the end did not effect the end of the leg of the race.

#2 It was rough out there and they should have taken that into account more but as a fisherman....4 fish does not seem like a lot.

#4 Editing

#3 Adam is now a bigger whiner the Jonathon and a wimp on top of it. Then he goes on and say Rebecca did not support him and he's going to kill yourself by jumping off the ferry....he is a DRAMA QUEEN.....Rebecca, I suggest you move to the other side of the country when you are done because I have a feeling he'll be a stalker for many years if you live near by.

How dumb can you get, this is worse than the finale in TAR 5 where Colin/Christie lost the million by not checking for flight delays.

Go to the destination, so you know where it is and have no problems finding it the following day.

2 was unlucky, there were a lot of fish to stack, and it was supposed to be a good fishing ground.

3 Adam is a wuss. They are just getting his roadblocks out of the way until the stronger member of the team can take over.

4 Editing.

Perhaps the worst moves though are a) Still having your Mother cut your toenails, and b) letting your girlfriend know! Or possibly any child foolish enough to take sweets from Joanthon.

Even though it really didn't have an effect on the race because of the beloved bunching, it certainly was poor game play not to check out the tower (maybe for a short cut, or some other advantage) especially when it was so close by.

Bonus -- Gus shows off his manly torso. Made me wish I was the guy on NCIS who got his eyeballs plucked.

Really dumb move to trust people who don't speak your language that well. How could they be sure the locals who told them 10am really knew what they were asking.

In hindsight, because it didn't cost them ANYTHING(stupid bunching), mabye this was a good move, since they got to do several hours of sight-seeing around town that no one else go to do.

This could have meant elimination.

The first really bad move made by either of these front-runners - and it was nearly fatal. Fortunately, some timely bunching allowed them to occupy their usual positions.

#2 I'll writte off as bad luck, #4 as editing, and #3 as a learning experience for Rebecca.

<#3 as a learning experience for Rebecca. '

Perhaps, but to spend any time with the guy indicates she's a very slow learner.

Everyone is entitled to my opinion.
